  1. That new boat of yours must really have some enormous storage compartments!
  2. HA! I have gone 8 hours and never changed rods or baits even once! If it's working, why switch? I like to cover water, but I cover it well before I move. Want to slow down? Try wading a river. Wade out to the middle of a river in water waist deep, with a rocky bottom, swift current, and dirty enough where you can't see your feet. If you try and "Run N' Gun" you'll wind up face planting in the river! Moving is difficult so you pick apart the water you are standing in because it's easier than moving. Like A-Jay said, if that's what you enjoy, do it! I fish with a guy like you. He hates senko fishing even if it's working. He's a power fisher all day. I know when I'm with him, I'm power fishing too especially if we're in his boat. I'll only run-n-gun when I only have a short time before the storms come or it's the last day of a trip and I'm going home in an hour or 2.
  3. Why take a chance that the line may be damaged? Cut the 5 or 6 feet of line off and re-tie.
  4. How will you mount the tripod in your boat so it doesn't move? Those little tripods will slide around. Does the one you bought hold your phone or a regular camera? You don't want your phone falling on the floor of the boat.
  5. There is a fellow from the Chicago area named Dan Basore who has one of the worlds largest fishing lure collections. It requires a warehouse to store it all. Dan has a large collection of antique lures some of which date back several hundred years. He often has a large display of the antique lures at many of the large outdoor shows every year. Back in the day, Dan was one of the original fishermen on the BassMaster Trail having been invited to join by Ray Scott himself.
  6. For Yamamoto, its durability and price, and for SK, except for the Red Eye Shad, I just use other baits. I fish for smallmouth 90% of the time and there are only 4 or 5 baits that I need to catch nearly all of my fish and those are not Strike King baits.
  7. I did not vote. I don't depend on either of these companies. I seldom use any CYCB or SK baits.
  8. I don't know why, in any alternative universe, I would be forced to choose between these two companies, but I could easily survive with many other baits if either or both of these companies were to suddenly disappear.
  9. You will need to mount the tripod in a place where you can leave it set up the whole time you are fishing. If you have to get it out, and set it up every time you want to use it, your fish will be dead by the time you get your photo. Practice using it at home so you'll know what to do to get good shots quickly. I have a selfie stick mounted on a Ram mount on my boat that I leave my camera attached to all the time. All I do is turn the camera on and hit the auto time button. I know where to stand to get the best shot.
  10. I have to agree with this. I've been fishing superlines since they were introduced and long before the internet told me I was doing everything wrong. I also never knew about leaders being necessary, so I never used them. I also don't remember ripping out trebles. It may have happened but except for pike fishing in Canada, I have always used medium to medium light, mostly spinning rods and light lines. so I was never horsing fish in anyway.
  11. So how many miles are on the car?
  12. You have to go under "shop". Here's the link. http://stcroixrods.com/shop/freshwater/triumph-x-spinning-rod/
  13. This is why I don't buy Costas. That and because I'm cheap.
  14. The Online St Croix store has still has Triumph X rods normally $100 on sale for $60. No shipping charge and no sales tax.
  15. And it tastes better than most light beers!
  16. There are dozens of videos on YouTube showing you how to interpret what you see on a depth finder. Search there.
  17. Sounds like the transducer is bad.
  18. I'm surprised that abrasion was causing breakoffs. According to those who believe in flurocarbon, (not me) The line is supposed to be abrasion resistant.
  19. You can see what Minn Kota has to say about the new models on their web site.
  20. Line watching with braid is a lot easier because the line floats on the surface where you can see it. There will be a twitch along the length of the line laying on the surface that is unmistakeable when a bass hits. Sinking line like flouro has almost all of the line under the water giving you a lot less to see.
  21. There is a new Terrova coming out for 2017. Quieter than the old version. Plus the foot pedal and spot lock have been improved. The remote control is better than the remote on the Motorguide.
  22. Just because they don't fall apart, doesn't mean that you can't lose them
  23. Please define "clunkier" as it pertains to these fishing rods.
  24. No sales tax and free shipping. I just ordered 2 of them
  25. $60 for a rod you were willing to pay $100 for. Now that's a deal!
