  1. Just getting into glidebaits (just bought a Baitsanity Explorer Glide (2nd Gen) and noticed a lot of guys use Decoy Egg Snaps. Two Questions: 1. What size would you use for the Explorer Glide? (Size 4 or 5?) 2. Do you remove the split ring that comes on the glidebait or just attach the egg snap directly to the split ring? Thanks!
  2. Interesting how they only have 19 and 22 lb? I suppose that’s an option. But to be honest it’s not really any cheaper than flouro at that point.
  3. Good compromise is probably 20lb CXX. Idk maybe that is where I will start.
  4. Worst case I just use 20 lb flouro which I know works well for both. Just spent $600 on this swimbait setup and don’t plan to buy another setup just for large flutter spoons anytime soon
  5. You think it will double as a good 6-9" flutter spoon line as well? It's just interesting watching all these YouTube videos on swimbait and spoon fishing and its all fluorocarbon. Surprised not many people recommend mono for anything now a days
  6. Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll likely just try 20 lb Big Game. I do have 20 lb CXX I can try sometime too if I wanted to. I actually think the Big Game would work really well for spoons too and act as a good “shock absorber” when your lifting the spoons off the bottom
  7. I know this has been discussed quite a bit, but most the threads I found were a bit older. I just got into swimbait fishing (just picked up a Megabass Levante Leviathan) and plan to start fishing for some striped bass (as well as largemouth) with swimbaits (e.g. Baitsanity Explorer) and large spoons (e.g. Ben Parker 8" Spoon, Deps Magnum Ghurka Knife, etc). I'm using the same setup to do both for now. As always, there seems to be a lot of differing opinions on this. Some guys use braid to leader, some guys run straight mono, flouro, and quite possibly the most popular seems to be P-Line CXX. I guess I worry about mono or copolymer messing with the action of the baits. I originally planned to run 20 lb FC Sniper since I know it will work great for both the swimbaits and spoons. That said, I also run Big Game on a few other setups of mine (I use it for spinnerbaits as well as my shallow crankbaits). TacticalBassin (who has been swimbait fishing a long time) recommends braid to 20 lb FC100 (specifically a flourocarbon leader line). I fish braid to leader ALL the time for other baits and I've never had my knot fail (I tie the Alberto knot). That said, it's a little more nerve racking when your using $100+ baits in some cases. I wouldn't want that knot to fail. So I've been leaning more towards just running braid backing and then straight flouro, mono, or CXX. What do you guys think? Thanks!
  8. Thanks guys I got it...I didn't realize a small amount of the black was still supposed to show. I was thinking to myself "there is no way this is going any further in" lol.
  9. Feel stupid asking this, but I just bought a Megabass Levante Leviathan rod and wanted to see if there were any tricks to assembling it straight. Once it is together, I can tell it's gonna be together forever haha. Any tips? Thanks
  10. I ordered the Dobyn’s 805 which is definitely suited for the 6XD. I know the guys at Tactical Bassin say it will throw the 10XD just fine though. That said, I know the 806 was specifically designed for the 10XD
  11. I'm weird...I'm right handed, but I fish with left handed reels haha
  12. Yea you convinced me so I went ahead an ordered the 5:1 off another site that had 3 in stock. I cancelled my order for the 6.2:1 on TW. We will see how I like it!
  13. Where did you get the 100mm handle from. Wonder if they have something like that, that would work for the Shimano Curado K I just ordered. Yea I'm sure there are still plenty of guys using them, I was just saying I couldn't find any off hand.
  14. I'm going to try the 6.2:1 - I think it will actually work really well. It's amazing how many guys are using 6 speed (and even some 7 speed) reels for deep cranks (even DT20s, 10XDs, etc). In fact, I couldn't even find any pro anglers on YouTube who were using anything less than a 6 speed. Pretty interesting. I'll see how the 6.2:1 is. If it is a real bear then I will order the 5 speed and use the 6.2 for something else.
  15. Omni actually has the 5:1 in stock...wondering if I should go with that...
