  1. Firearm season just opened today in MI. Spent the morning on stand and saw 1 big doe with a yearling, back after them on Wednesday! Stay safe.
  2. Hey Falcon how were the seminars you went to?
  3. Yeah a whole year to plan, I just like to be prepared and and have plenty of time to save up extra $$ for special activities too.
  4. We have a trip planned for August of 2010 to Gatlinburg and I am looking for any suggestions or information on the area, guides, good bass fishing lakes, entertainment, food etc. Lodging is already taken care of just looking to fill in the details of the trip. In advance Logger
  5. Welcome, you are in the right place to get some great information, Logger
  6. I am heading to a catch and release lake here on Tuesday and I know there are 10+lb pike in there. If you could only take one bait with you to hook up with a big pike what would your go-to bait be? The lake is all under 12 feet deep, with massive amounts of laydowns, stumps, and huge lilypad mats. There is plenty of open water too. I forgot to mention earlier this lake does not allow live bait. I am taking Storm Swimshads with me for sure. Suggestions?
  7. I'm in Northern MI and the LMB seem to be doing just fine. Actually on a primarily SMB fishery I caught 3 more LMB than SMB this week.
  8. Great tip can't wait to try it.
  9. I tried the Calcutta 4" swimbaits a few years back in Florida and got skunked but brought them to MI and absolutely nailed the pike with them. Their swimbaits are just like the Storm Swim shad. I don't know about their other gear. I guess if its cheap just try a bag of something and let the rest of us know what you think. If its the same price as a brand you know or trust, go with what you know that way you won't feel like you wasted money on a shot in the dark.
  10. June 15th Wakley opens Let me know when you plan to go
  11. Paragon, my opener lasted about 3 hours and consisted of rain, 49 degree weather, bad winds, and 3 hammer handle pike. So not the opener I had waited all winter for, but at least I got out and the boat ran fine. I boated my first 2 largemouth Wednesday night, nothing huge. Both hit a tube and were already in 2 feet of water. I was shocked that the water temp was already up to 55 here in Mio.
  12. welcome, I'm in Mio in Northeast MI
  13. My buddy is renting a cabin on Kassuba lake in Gaylord this summer. Anyone fished this lake before? I live in northern Michigan and I have never heard of it. Logger
  14. That was a great game man those last few second were nuts!! Way TO GO WINGS!!!!!!
  15. No one has been to Dogwood Canyon?? I Would really like an opinion/ review on this place before we go.
  16. Fished it early in may was still very cold nothing shallow at that point I got skunked. Buddies of mine fished memorial day and slayed them on the rocky points in 10' or less. They were dragging 6" suckers. Find the rocks and you'll find the bass. There are no weeds Good luck Logger
  17. Anyone who likes wheat beers try Hoegaarden its a Belgian Wheat have it with a slice of orange. My all time favorite. Second choice would be Blue Moon
  18. I have a brittany. Orange and White and is my best friend and hunting partner. She is incredible with my 1 yr old son and is just a blessing to have. Only thing that may not be your thing is she has a short/medium coat and sheds in the spring for a while.
  19. I am a redwings fan and think they'll win it. Game 3 a lot more fun to watch though. I still can't believe the no-call when Holmstrom got dumped into the net, but I guess its better than when they call penalties for guys looking at each other funny.
  20. Chuck good luck man, let us know how you do. I wish I could be more help but I haven't been out in over a week. But when I was fishing the Mio pond on the ausable last everything was on the drop in 10" of water. X- raps worked for me. Everyone up here I have been talking to said "our" bass are finally moving up to spawn and people are finding beds.
  21. I also have the edge #40 model so let me know if you have any q"s and I'll get the manual out for you.
  22. I am all set for lodging. WIII-60 are you talking about the BPS at Branson's Landing? I was there last year and will accidentally end up this year too I am sure. Thanks for the report on the Titanic, it wasn't open yet when I went last year. RW Please post a report for me or shoot me a PM when you get back. Which guide are you using?
  23. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Keep them coming. A couple of questions Teria- What kind of show is Pierce arrow? Fisher of Men- Yes I am going to try to talk them into seeing Shepard of the Hills, they wouldn't go for it last year I'll restate your recommendation to the "others" Has anyone been to Dogwood Canyon??
  24. if you can get into the Grosse pointe farms or city parks you can fish the piers there with good success. But you have to know somebody who lives in the "pointes"to get in the private parks. I fished there for a long time before moving up north.
  25. Hey guys after the awesome infor I got from you last year I had to ask about Branson again. I am going again this year. And yes the in-laws will be going again also :-/. We have an idea of what we will do this time but was hoping for some other suggestions or opinions or if anything is new within the last year or so. My son is 14 months now and will be much more fun to take this time. Last trip we saw: Shoji Tabuchi, hit the BPS in springfield, Ate at Rodizzio, fudruckers, and went to the branson landing area. I did not get to fish and am still very sour about it. This year. we plan to go to BPS for the nature museum (I have a feeling the wife will have the bait monkey under lock and key), tour the Busch factory when we fly in to St.Louis, dixie stampede, and we would like to go to Dogwood Canyon but we aren't sure if its worth it (could use some review of this and how's the fishing there??) we might see the Lord of the dance. There are the 2 "theme" parks silver dollar city and celebration city are they worth going to? is that right? any suggestions on those or any other shows/places to hit in Branson let me know. We are not country music fans (no offense to anyone who is) .We need kid friendly stuff and maybe a few night spots that the wife and I can go to if the in-laws watch my son. Also I have made the statement to the in laws that I am fishing every morning with or without company so I would also like to know if there are any smaller lakes to hit or good places to shore fish in the Branson /Ridgedale area TRL is too big (unless we are talking shore fishing) and I don't have the time to figure it out or the money to rent a guide. What about Taneycomo?? I went down by the fish hatchery last year and that looked good, I also was down by Skip's at Branson landing but never fished, any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance, Greg
