  1. I can only give you experience on my Veritas, it was one of my favorite rods last season. I own the 7'3" MH/F it now serves as my backup all around rod, it is a great multi-purpose rod that can handle anything I ask it too. From frogging/flipping and pitching and was sensitive enough for jigs/worms.
  2. Fenwick is pretty quick to respond to queries too. I've sent queries to Shimano and St Croix before. It always took a day or two to get an answer, Fenwick/Pure Fishing literally answered my emails within a hour. I'd like to know how you broke the tip too? I guess it's possible during shipment your rod may have gotten damaged.
  3. I have an old Mitchell Outback spinning reel. It is my bobber/worm fishing setup or when I bring a friend along with me setup. Nothing wrong with it, but since I own higher quality reels (Shimano Stradic FJ (2) and Symetre) it isn't the same. I use to own a Mitchell Spidercast round reel, which was a very solid reel..no complaints just didn't compare to my Calcutta when I had one. Even if I decided to buy a low end cheapy for my daughter it would probably not be a Mitchell. I'd pick a Pfleuger or Shimano in the low end category.
  4. Well Clarus vs Crucial is a pretty major gap imo...I find that my Compre compared to my Crucial is not the "same". Saying that however, I'm sure he will be able too. Just not sure it will be the same as your Crucial regarding the tip being soft enough to load.
  5. Yep he was pretty adamant on the TT boards.
  6. Do you mean you are using a 3/8 weight plus plastics, you might be able too. Try it out, worst thing that could happen is that you make get a backlash.
  7. Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably pull the trigger once I get to inspect the rod in person.
  8. How deep was the fish caught? Between 5'-7' Did the lure contain rattles or have hinges? No Was the lure a natural color (brown, green) or was it an unnatural color (chartreuse, orange)? Brown If possible, what moon phase was your PB caught during? 2 days before the full moon (Super Moon)
  9. So I have a chance at getting a like new condition Powell Max 704 Crankbait rod for 85 bucks. I was also going to buy his CuradoE5 with it with an upgraded Carbontex drag for 130. My question is, how good is that rod? I know that the CuradoE5 is well a Curado so I know what I'm getting. I was mostly going to use it for squarebills and medium depth cranks (15'). It would be great if it can do deep cranks occassionally (I don't have many places I go to that go deeper than 20+ regularly).
  10. I agree with what he said, 'cept the part about Abu..since I never owned one.
  11. Good choice, that many reviews can't be wrong. Use one for my flipping stick.
  12. Or buy a BPS PQ when it is on sale again for 79.99.
  13. Not saying it is rampant, but I am sure we will see more as the popularity continues. Hopefully it never reaches the Veritas level of breakage or them Carrot Sticks..lol I'm starting to see these posts on other forums I frequent. You are bound to get them like everyone else.

  15. Immediately could tell it was a smallmouth bass.
  16. BTW if you look in the flea market right now, a member is selling a used BPS PQ LH reel for a very good price. Check it out.
  17. If the Citica is at that price mentioned, Citica all the way over all the reels listed (Shimano is known to make reels last forever). The 2nd choice would be the BPS PQ, look at Goose52's thread about his longevity tests for the PQ.
  18. See Capt Bob's explanation. Frankly if you couldn't pull line yourself at 10 lbs of pressure at the "reel" then I'd worry about how strong you are.
  19. What he said, I never used a Lews as I'm living in an area that no one carries them. The Chronarch E series is awesome though...why not wait though for the latest Chronarch to be in stores? While you wait, you can save another 70 dollar difference and get one.
  20. What rod will this going on? Just to let you know that the Lexas have a big foot and may have an issue fitting on your reel seat. Just a FYI, well the 300 series maybe different..the 100 series has problems fitting on some of my rods from different manufacturers. Are you talking about the Curado 300E? I hear good things about that reel, so I'd probably choose this reel.
  21. Shimno Chronarch 200e7 would be my choice. As for Daiwa i was going to take the plunge on the Tatula r but after seeing that new feature with casting. I decided i am going to wait.
  22. Either one will work, I use a PQ for flipping and pitching. I also have a Citica on my frogging rod, never had an issue pulling out bass in heavy stuff.
  23. Not that i have seen, course i have only just started using mine and have caught just a couple fish on it. I did lose a big one in timber, but nothing changed.
  24. I had the same question, but decided since I already have a Fish Stick in "Craw Scent", I went with original. Looks like I made the right choice!
