  1. Curado K and potentially a Chronarch MGL.
  2. RichF it is appreciated actually, thanks Brother angler.
  3. I didn't read the other posts, but I imagine it is the same response. Vanish sucks period. That is just Vanish, when I first started bass fishing I bought the same line. Had the same problems, I won't even use it as a leader! What Vanish line I have left I use as backing. Knot strength is terrible too! If you want to stay cheap floro get Seaguar Red Label. Also I don't believe the hype on using floro for invisibility, does it help? Maybe but I feel like it's line diameter that is more important and I don't see a difference in catching fish myself. I usually use braid to leaders (mono, floro, hyrbid). Only reason I use floro is the other qualities like: bottom contact floro doesn't float, abrasive resistance but then a hybrid line is just effective not because it's "invisible". I'd like to give you a tip if you want to save money, look on youtube about using braid as mainline and using leader material. Using braid as mainline will last forever if using leaders. I have baitcasters that I haven't changed the line for years. You can also save more money by reusing braid if the line is wearing, just respool another reel to your 2nd reel. Basically you will be using the untouched line, brand new line! I'm still on my 4 boxes of invizX and abrazX spools for 5 years (stored in a cool storage space in my man room), still about half way left just by using leaders only! Ok, now I feel stupid.
  4. If you’re wanting to do more cranking or doing tournies, I’d suggest yes get a cranking rod. If not a M/F rod can do it in a pinch or you can use your spinning setup.
  5. Wow what a sweet deal. Definitely a steal!
  6. I’ve no experience with the series of rods, however I do find it silly the suggestion I have to put a budget rod with a budget reel. Nothing wrong with putting a Metanium on an Ugly Stik. That is their preference and their money, they can spend it on whatever they want!
  7. I’m a Shimano homer, so I’m thinking you are right on! ?
  8. I don’t know anything about the Curado rods. I did see some reviews here and there. Really not much is out there, maybe you will be the first for us to get some quality feedback! Good luck with the new combo!
  9. Another vote for the Curado K or 70.
  10. If you’re throwing Senko, I totally agree.
  11. I use a Stradic FJ 1000 no probs, I reckon you will be fine.
  12. I’d say take it apart and give it a good cleaning and re lube. If you’re not comfortable, send it to someone who can.
  13. I’ve thrown a weightless Zoom finesse worm on a 1st Gen Fenwick Smallmouth ET M/F, paired with a Curado 50 E with not a lot of effort. I won’t win any distance contests but it’s far enough. In fact that combo with that rig still holds my PB record for most caught smallies in one outing. If you are buying a new reel and want true finesse, I think you should go Aldebaran. I haven’t bought one myself yet, but if you’re going to pay Met MGL money might as well do it right!
  14. Free spool isn’t the best indicator of a good reel and over rated. They usually cake on the oil and grease. I’ve torn down low end reels, cleaned them up oiled and greased the right way. Night and day difference.
  15. I dislike the new Elite Tech, but they are supposedly better than the HMG. If they are the same price, probably would go the ET.
  16. If you are going to be doing any skipping? I think that is the main advantage for the SV spool. If not or if you’re a master skipper with a Senko, go with the non SV.
  17. Nope, putting Daiwa on a Loomis is bad Mojo. ? Just kidding, sounds like a good combo, for me however I a step down on the ratio. That’s just me though and how I fish a Senko.
  18. Interesting if that is true, that is an awesome deal!
  19. I’m not a micro guide person? I’m fine with the regular guides. What matters to me most is how they fish though.
  20. I use leaders more for saving money on main line (braid). Some reels have had a braid for years! if I spooled them up all with other lines I would've changed them more frequently. So for me it's a cost savings, but there are times where abrasion resistance is necessary too. So if you use braid as mainline for most techniques you should be fine with the exception of sharp edges..etc. Also find that using a leader for drop shot, it is easier for me to tie on the rig. I have caught fish on yellow braid straight and white braid straight. No ill effects.
  21. I actually am too afraid to fish around a beaver house. You get a beaver angry enough, he can do damage to you! When I do get brave enough to try and only if I'm pretty sure it's abandoned...I will use a super fluke, power shot or jig/texas rig.
  22. What he said. And add this.
  23. I use chatterbaits in cooler water, little vegetation in clear or dirty water and like them better if I want to go deeper. For spinnerbaits I usually use double willow 90% of the time and tandems 10% of the time. I usually is these around wood, vegetation/weeds, open water and hard cover or structure. Depending on the clarity of the water I will go with double willow (stained to clear) and a tandem for dirtier water.
  24. I’m a Shimano lifer, but between the two I’d say get the Fuego. The price difference just makes sense to choose the Fuego.
  25. MBR all the way. Just awesome action it is so versatile I call it the best jack of all trade rods I own.
