  1. I'm in the middle of doing lots of upgrades on my cottage and I've been waiting to get my first Aldebaran. I did see the older Aldebaran maybe in my ok to purchase wheelhouse. Let me know how it is?
  2. So the lure ratings aren’t true? 1/8-3/4 oz? Good to know.
  3. Like others stated, get the Tatula SV or Use 30 lb braided line on the 70. If you want to stay Shimano the Curado K would be able to get you the line capacity as well.
  4. I’m finding it difficult to fish my lower end reels (BPS PQ, Citica). I’m finding I can’t go below a Curado any longer. I’m leaning towards staying at the Chronarch level now. The MGL is such a pleasure to fish, my most used reels in 2017 were my Chronarchs. I’d consider them mid range though, I do think going above the Metanium line is pushing it on bang for your buck...but I do feel the Conquest I have is a thing of beauty. When I pick up a Citica, nothing wrong with it, but it’s night and day the feeling when fishing. The Citica is no slouch though, they perform just as well. For me like others, higher end reels just feels more comfortable and enjoyable to fish.
  5. I try not to buy things for full retail, I buy used (rods and reels), do the same with braid and I use leaders to save money on line...I try and be smart with my money.
  6. I still use the Veritas v1. Still one of my favourite everyday use rods. 7’3” Medium Heavy Fast, probably will never let it go either. If I didn’t buy Shimano/Loomis rods, I’d Probably buy more Veritases.
  7. I’ve seen you tubers still have this mindset. 1000 bearings equal awesome reel.
  8. Jig and Worm...for me as well. Weightless as well!
  9. Jerkbaits, finesse techniques and skipping short targets in light cover. Fishing from shore with lots trees.
  10. Weedless Texas Rig, for both. I use a 3/0 EWG for the Finesse Worm and 4/0 the Trick Worm. I love the Finesse Worm better, I've caught so many with the green pumpkin color.
  11. The super fluke is money. My favorite is the pearl white color. I fish it on a 2/0 off shank, I find that the 2/0 gives me confidence more than using a 3/0 or 4/0. I fish it with jerk pauses and I will change up the cadence to whatever they want it. Fish it at whichever dept the fish I think are at. I've used it as a surface bait over lily pads and weeds. I just slowly drag it, when I reach close to an opening..I sometimes let it fall or before it falls I would hop the fluke in place a couple times to get a fish's attention more then drop. Usually get the bite on the initial fall. I do at times drag it on the bottom like any T Rig/Jig.
  12. Pass on the G. You can get them around 100 CDN, used. The Core, if you can get it at 200 that would be sweet. My limit would be 250 CDN though.
  13. Try oiling the drum, follow the instructions that came with the box.
  14. Yep in Ontario. Good luck!
  15. That’s crazy, I bought mine that was sitting in a local tackle shop for half that price.
  16. I have 2 Met 13s and Met MGL and I never used the other brake set, I know it’s supposed to make it less brakes...but never thought of using them as the default brakes work just fine for me.
  17. I always just used the default brakes that come in the reels. I never thought of using the red? I guess I'm saying I never over think it.
  18. The Core man, treat yourself.
  19. d**n didn’t think of that ?
  20. Get the Core, I love mine. Also love the 50E, but it’s just a bit more enjoyable the Core. However, I advise you get both.
  21. You will succumb to the monkey!
  22. I have my Brakes set at 1 or 2 internal and then fiddle with the external to whatever I need it at.
  23. The Chronarch MGL is my favourite reel at the moment. I have 2 looking to add another in the near future. You can find them around the top range of your limit. I warn you, if you thought the Caenan was good....you’ll not look back!
