  1. More reels, I like reels more. ? Why did you get rid of a Chronarch 50E! ?
  2. Graphite has come a long way, although I think it really depends on the quality of the build. You can't just do a broad stroke and say they all flex. I haven't fished an all cheap graphite reel though , most of my Shimanos are aluminum or that fancy MG or fancy plastic as some call it.
  3. I've had an otter get really pissy at me, not only did he slap the water he was barking back at me and seem to me warning/taunting me to get off his river.
  4. I thought you were holding off buying more! ? I was really impressed as well but with the 1.0 version. I was pleasantly surprised with their sensitivity. As for me for new rods and reels. I really didn't buy anything during the off season or this season. I have been updating my cottage so this took precedence. I did have an opportunity to buy another Chronarch MGL, it was really hard not too but I earned brownie points by giving the money up instead to our kitchen cabinets for the cottage that my wife really wanted. Although for a great cause, I really wished I had another one. ?
  5. I already see the problem. You're supposed to use baits/lures to catch fish, not your tackle box silly. I know, I know I'm pure genius. To answer your question, I always seem to go to the drop shot, I use a powerbait minnow 2" in pearl white and my other favorite is the Zoom Finesse Worm in Green Pumpkin. If I don't have either of these on me, I pack it up and leave. j/k I'll use anything that I have similar to those two baits. My backup ones are Havoc Bottom Hopper Jr. (seems you can't get them anymore!) or a smaller fluke.
  6. Like others have stated, Texas rigged with a weight and I flip/pitch them in holes. I personally don't use tubes a lot anymore, I probably should. I first learned how to pitch/flip with a tube into slop, in a few casts I quickly caught my first into the slop LMB.
  7. Sounds good, hopefully you and the reel will catch some big ones! I also don't stress out if one person can cast without any breaks at all. Maybe I'm just used to Shimano as that is mostly what I fish, 99% of the time when I do backlash it's because of user error. (hit a branch, bank fishing I hit vegetation, lure gets caught on something..etc) I'm not saying I'm perfect but I usually don't have to worry or think about backlashes on my Shimano reels.
  8. I’ve used a Calcutta 200b as my first round reel. I used it mainly for heavy baits, crankbaits and used for my X Heavy rod for punching. Never had to swing for the fences. I did not backlash much at all either, I think like the rest, you just need time on the water with it to understand how to use it. You also seemed set already to give up on it anyway. Totally up to you, good luck with the Luna.
  9. Get the Chronarch G, it is saltwater rated and can be used for freshwater. I wouldn’t risk my MGL.
  10. In my opinion they are the true all around rods. I was shocked how well they worked for jerkbaits as well!
  11. Yes they rock, I have 4 200 sizes and 1 50. I have a cranking one (5 ratio) very good crankbait reel. Funny thing, I just realized I use small to medium swimbaits on my IMX too. Use a 6 ratio reel, I usually have this tied on early season.
  12. i Would suggest if you can take it in store and try them out! Mine is on Zodias rod, balances out nicely.
  13. I have those same rods, except they are paired up with Chronarch E series. Easy two of my favourites I like to use.
  14. Casting distance vs Accuracy...accuracy 90% for me. Why I pick reel, my personal preference. If I were you, I’d get a Curado 70 or K. If you want advice which is better for you, go in store and test how it feels for you.
  15. Let me clarify, I own both. Although they both perform great, for the price if you compared the USDM versions, the net between them I’d take the Chronarch all day. If compared to the JDM, I’d take the Met all day. It’s about bang for your buck for me. The Met has a slight edge for my personal preference.
  16. Totally what I do and agree. If I do not have a glove, I will wrap it around my sleeve or towel. I see a lot of people still try and bend the rods into a U instead of doing it the right way.
  17. Well interesting, spinning or baitcaster. I guess we need context here, like new2BC4bass has stated.
  18. I agree with Ty, if you want more performance definitely change it from a bushing to a bearing. If you're happy with it the way it is, don't think you can do much more without the upgrade.
  19. It really depends on what you fish most and confident with. For me I'd rather have the spinning setup because it is more versatile, in a sense that I can use the setup with more techniques than a crankbait specific setup. For me I fish the drop shot, weightless plastics and lighter lures more than a crankbait. So for me it is an easier decision. You will have to think that through as well. Of course there are factors like the type of water you fish as well.
  20. Super Fluke, Finesse Zoom Worm (Weightless T Rig or Dropshot), Powerbait White Minnow 2 and 3" (Drop shot).
  21. This and I would do this the same with a Super Fluke.
  22. More about not breaking your rod, like others stated. You don't want to set your drag too much and/or trying to break off a snag with a 50lb braid and bending your rod to its limits.
  23. Sorry I'm no expert, I do clean my reels and re-grease/oil but it doesn't mean I know everything for all reels (just my own). I'm sure someone with more knowledge can assist. However with my limited knowledge I wouldn't think so. I see a spool shaft bushing, not sure if anything can be done there as all my reels do not have a bushing there. Maybe someone can chime in on that.
  24. You can fish everything with those three rods. The next rod in my opinion should be a crankbait rod with a moderate action. My personal preference though, although you're spinning setup can handle CB duty no problem. However for me I found crankbaits on a spinning setup awkward.
  25. Shimano/Loomis for me. I have some others I kept from other brands because I liked them a lot for certain things though. I find that there are just rods from different brands that just work great for the way I fish a certain bait or situation. - St Croix Avid 6'6" M/F, great Jerkbait Rod (Not the new Avid X) - Abu Garcia Gen 1 Veritas 7'3" MH/F (Awesome Multipurpose rod for everything 1/2 oz) - BPS Carbonlites (2) Best pond beaters when I don't want to bring my more expensive rods.
