  1. I agree, stated this in an earlier post. Not sure if you were directing it at me, but I was responding to singlecoil's post.
  2. Yes twice, 1st time was like well that sucked, years later I'm better now....I should be able to handle it. Uh no, brought back down to earth again....will never ever do it again. Why do we need to anyway? I can still cast far enough with all breaks on to catch a fish.
  3. It depends really, BPS for example will give a discount if you buy a PQ reel or Carbonlite reel paired with their carbon lite rods. That is a setup that would be leaps and bounds better than what you posted. In general the generic combos, the reel is usually the quality piece of the pair, the rod is usually a bust. You can get decent combos for around 100. Like get a Berkeley Lightning Shock or a Shimano convergence and pair that with a baitcaster like a silver or black max. If spinning you can go Trion or President.
  4. Why would St Croix make the Avid the same level as it's lower series? That makes absolute zero business sense. If that is the case I will never buy an Avid and nor because of the business ethics would I buy a LTB, Elite or Extreme. It means they have been misleading you, the consumer. I highly doubt this claim.
  5. I'll probably not be buying a PQ unless I need it as loaner reel. But I'd still like to know how good they are since they retired a beast. In fact this year they will be retired from my starting lineup and will be used as my extra, backups and my beater reels while I'm travelling for work or my annual family Florida vacation.
  6. Definitely post your findings when you get to use it more. Thanks!
  7. I use 3/8 too.
  8. I just placed my order, thanks Mike for the assistance and thanks everyone for the input. I did order 2 of those snipers to try them out too, couple of swim jigs and ordered the dredge brush jig pack in 3/8.
  9. I'm going send you a message later today or tomorrow. Thanks!
  10. So I just went to BPS to stock up on some jig trailers and grabbed some chatterbaits. 11. I agree with the senko, also a weedless wacky hook for the senko is a must have. I landed more fish that way than t rig. I disagree somewhat though on Cranks, I've caught many on shallow cranks and squarebills, but it just depends on the water your fishing. You might as well keep it in the backpack just in case.
  12. After doing a check of my inventory I realized I'm in need of a few more jigs. I hear so much about these jigs that I'm thinking of buying them. I would like to know what everyone recommends? I normally fish in weedy, laydowns and standing trees the most. There are so many models I didnt know what to choose. I normally fish hack attack jigs and bps brand enticers and they work great. Colors I already have in mind, but if you want to recommend I'm open to it. I usually like to fish 1/4 and 3/8.
  13. This is what I do.
  14. I go 10, 15 and highest I go 20lbs. Having said that no issues using 30 lb braid.
  15. Here is what I acquired the past month. Needed to get more spinnerbaits and cranks. Grabbed the Berkeley 110s because they were half price.
  16. Hrm pretty sure the Curado I was released late 2014?
  17. Yeah not sure, i think it's a replacement of the Curado I with potentially a MGL spool and updated brakes to match the 70. Just because they just added the 70 I don't think it is necessarily mean the 70 is out that soon, the 70 has been a hit.
  18. Speculation is there is a new Curado incoming.
  19. Wow nice deal. Those are awesome rods, all this talk of St Croix is starting to interest me in St Croix rods again. I switched to Shimano, Fenwick and loomis but since the change to in their lineups (specifically Shimano and Fenwick) they seemed to be stiffer thank I like. Remind me of St Croix rods so I'm mulling trying the latest models. Don't get me wrong I love the Zodias rods just feel like I'm missing something.
  20. A medium heavy moderate/medium fast 7'+ will work. Pick whatever is in your price range.
  21. From your list I'd go with a Curado 70HG or third option wait until you can save another 100 and get a Metanium MGL HG and have a combo you'll never put down.
  22. Here's my first MGL. Going to use this for swim jigs, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I have to find a rod for it though!
  23. Sure it's made in China but company X would ensure the manufacturing process followed their quality standards. If they didn't they would fall flat with the consumers. Although not a deal breaker for me, I would prefer it was made in the USA.
  24. Congrats, that cranking stick has a lot of fans and those PQs are work horses! I'd jump on the deal but I moved on to higher end reels and I have more reels than I can use!
  25. I think one of the major reasons is better quality material and build of the Avid line, plus the Avid was always made in the US. The Mojo I believe is made in Mexico. FYI just because they are the same blanks it doesn't mean they perform the same. It's all about how they build them and other materials. I'm no expert but that is what I understand. All manufacturers do it, when they upgrade they will "market" the next level blanks but the build doesn't make them apples to apples.
