If you can afford it, go get it. I hear the NRX is on sale at 25% which would place it at GLX level price. Get that for the ultimate sensitivity?

This answer may vary for everyone really. I have a few GLXs, they are awesome rods with great sensitivity and I have no issues with the handle. However I have the last version and not the newest version. I heard they are even better. In my opinion they are a "nice to have" if you can afford them. I find myself fishing the Zodias level rods is good enough and the right budget balance of build, quality and sensitivity to suit my everyday needs, but when the jigs/plastics bite is on I sure love fishing with the GLXs.

It is funny, although I'm a Shimano fan boy, I don't push it on people unless they ask my opinion about the product. I don't try and sell them on marketing. (Especially the big 2 has fancy words.) I try and give a honest review. In the end though it is all personal preference. If you like the PQ 2, wait for the sale because in my opinion, if it is just as good as the previous reel, then great you have a work horse reel. This season after some off season acquisitions, my three PQs are now my back ups or loaners. The last 4 years they were part of my rotation that consisted of numerous high end Shimano. Not saying they are just as good, just rock solid performance.

Maybe we are all assuming the IMX isn't significantly improved? ? Maybe they are just as good as the previous GLX? We can hope?

Ok all you Canadian Walmart, they have started their clearances up here. At least for me in Guelph. I picked up Rapalas half price...husky jerks, shadow raps, xraps, squarebills, rattling raps...etc. Some other stuff they sold out though.

I don't have issues with my Veritas Gen 1, but reel seats are important for everyone for comfort. I say well it and get a rod that will not give you issues.

Straight braid is fine. I've used hi vis yellow and still caught fish. I use leaders like Darren says, I use up the leader to make my braided mainline to last longer.

Sounds like you have a preference good that it works for you. But again you are making a claim and assumption that the PQ 2 without using yourself isn't well made or good. Ironically this reminds me of the Kastking thread in a way.

Yes I do have 3 PQ 1s and they are rock solid. Never fished a CT. Do you own a PQ 2? Comparing it to the CT? I'm trying to understand the relevancy of your question to me. I don't believe I said one was better than the other. I just see people making a judgement call without using.

Not saying the Tatula CT isn't better, probably is...but are you all basing on your experience with the PQ 2? Or just because it says Daiwa and Shimano on the reel. I really think you shouldn't make claims unless you used the reel too.

If you're going to use the PQ2 for jigs and after looking at your IPT I'd go with the 7.5.1 ratio. Like a previous poster said, you will just have to slow down on the bladed baits. I usually like using a lower IPT for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits and a higher IPT for jigs, senkos and craws.

I'd go with 7.5.1 but I'd double check the IPT instead of the "Ratio". When you go and get it exchanged, check the IPT on both vs the 7.1.1 PQ you have. Pick the closest one.

Don't worry about durability, although respectfully to Raul that seems like a one off "freak" accident. Although normally I agree with his assessments, just not this time. I have many Shimano non aluminum reels and they are just fine. I try and care no matter aluminum or composite not to drop them but it happens. Just last week I dropped a Chronarch CI4+ landed with the top side up. I did not see a dent or a scratch on it. Anything though can break if it get hits at the right angle or spot. The decision though you should be basing it on is your preference. If you want aluminum and like the feel then go buy an aluminum reel. It's your money.

If you like your fish and lures to "vanish" you picked the right line. Don't even use it for leader material, not worth the headache.

I think I will pass, may be my height. I won't go pass a 7'6". I think that is more than long enough.

For 100 bucks I would've stated a Veritas or BPS Carbonlite new, if you're going used you probably can find a Fenwick ET, Crucial or Avid in that range.

Jigs and T Rigs would be my vote, if it has a softer tip than the action it states (XF) then I'd say possibly spinnerbait and skipping.

When I watch a pro, I try to listen to how he fishes a certain technique, I tune them out when they talk about their sponsors. I definitely learn a lot more from everyone here though.

Definitely don't get an Avid X you'll be in a different class. Triumph was like an ugly stik when I bought my first Avid. FYI you can get AVIDs for 100 bucks used.
