  1. I agree with the others and I have a Veritas that I use 15lb braid on and do not see any grooves or damage due to braid.
  2. I agree that would be a good all around setup and definitely would up the # test on the line. I have a Veritas 7'3" MH/F that I use with my Citica (15lb Braid) and it's a good all around combo that I take in "general" if I bank fish or in my canoe (when I can't take 6-8 rods).
  3. If you scroll down this forum you can find the classifieds where you can land some good deals on all type of equipment. Also, ebay or the flea market.
  4. I use regular Power Pro and don't bother with the gimmick's is what I call Super Slick, of course that is just my opinion. Didn't really see much of any difference fishing with the standard and Super 8. I also used Spiderwire too (when it goes on sale), what did you find wrong with Spiderwire?
  5. I didn't buy it, but I held one at BPS and it didn't seem to be a bad of a reel especially for the price, but I decided on getting the BPS Extreme which was on sale for 10 dollars cheaper. If it weren't on sale, I probably would've bought it. Albeit there is only 13 reviews, but it has a 4.7 rating so not that is a good thing. Personally I'd wait for the Spring Classic and do a reel trade in to get yourself a BPS PQ, which would be 65 bucks.
  6. Are you going to Bass Talk? I am headed there this Monday. Yes I look at it as another day to occupy my mind for the long wait!! Spring is soon coming around!! With the spring boat&fishing show this weekend it is sure to get the juices flowing!!
  7. At least your faceless internet person lied to you, mine still hasn't answered me yet!
  8. That is what winter does for all of us here. LOL
  9. I would second the BPS Extreme Qualifier 370, I own the 360 and it rocks holds more than enough for my needs. If you require double the amount (360 holds 5 3600) then I'd go with the 370. A lot of room to store in the side pockets too, I bought it when it was on sale for 14.97.
  10. Man that is unfortunate, hope the damage won't be too bad.
  11. Dang, who knew this would happen again so fast. Hopefully I can get a rid of a few my stuff so I can take advantage!
  12. I'm not accusing them of anything honestly, like a lot of companies...etc they do the same thing. I'm not blaming them, but look closely at these two products. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Tournament-Rod-and-Reel-Baitcast-Combos/product/1210200646593/ http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Baitcast-Reels/product/102287/ If you weren't paying attention to the details, you wouldn't notice a real difference if you were shopping at the store. The two reels like identical.
  13. Yeah I compared the two and read the difference. If you look up PQ Tournament you eventually can find the difference. I can't recollect what it was right now, I know it was due to the bearings, plus the regular PQ is made in Korea and the tournament PQ was made in China.
  14. Ahh interesting, I kind of suspected they did that just never could confirm. When i saw for example the bps pq tournament combo it was on sale for 79. I was like what? The reel says bps pro q, the rod says bps pro q tournament. Figured it is a good deal. Had to dig pretty good to find out the reel has lesser quality bearings but overall the same reel as the pq. I have not used it yet, so I have not tested there is any real difference. I oiled it and seems the sane as the normal pq i have.
  15. I have been buying Zoom, BPS, Powerbait/Havoc baits mostly. I buy one of the more expensive brands when I can't find the right color from the other brands.
  16. What does that mean? Could you elaborate what that means. I mean refurbished equipment or items similarly named as another successful product?
  17. Nice congrats! Awesome fish, makes me want to go out even more.
  18. I can't wait try these colors got them from bps pink crawdad shape. I think it would be fun to cattch in front of others. I also bought pink trick worms to try.
  19. LOL That is true definitely, but it definitely helps up here in Toronto/Vaughan store. The employees I've worked with had no clue what the hell I was talking about and would just say no. Even this last time where i worked with the store manager to get them to honor the online price and went to purchase I had to fight with the guy and showed him proof/email chains with the people I was talking too. Long story short I had to wait of course until a manager showed up and then with the inconvenience gave me more $100 off on the overall purchase. Of course it could be just store related, main point is be persistent, reasonable and when the time calls for it like my situation (3rd time) ask for the manager when all fails. Not trying to be offensive, but the BPS standard employees here in Vaughan (fishing area) seem to have no idea about their products. Only the head of the department seems to have any clue. I've been to this store many many times and I love going there still. (Still have better stuff you can't find at the local shops) But the CR is horrid here.
  20. Here's a list - All my bait casters - I cleaned/oiled them for the 1st time in my life and they feel so much better, I want to test them out! (Started bass fishing full time last season and learning baitcasters) BPS ProQ Tournament Rod - I bought this new combo in January it is 7' M/F for 80 bucks (ProQ Tourney Reel) - I was surprised how light this rod was when I picked it up and am anxious to try how good it is for such a low price. Of course they could be so cheap that they break easily lol. I mostly bought the combo for the reel, but the rod feels good in my hands. (PQ Tourney are hear are basically the same as the Regular PQ, but with different bearings?) Yo-Zuri Hybrid - Decided it is time to see how good this is over PLine - especially after reading all the reviews on various boards. Ribbit Frogs SK - 1.5s SK/KVD 5XD and 6XD Various Swim Jigs Various Soft Baits - (Specifically for Drop Shots) I'm looking to practice more this season (gaining confidence) on crankbaits and drop shotting. I only caught two small fish on a crankbait and one baby bass (literally the bait was 1/2 the size of the largie) on a drop shot. I started learning the technique end of last season.
  21. I agree to an extent. You should be talking to a manager though, not that standard employee.
  22. I love my Citicas and Curados! Never owned a SX though so couldn't say.
  23. Yes definitely, it is a great deal. The PQ is my 2nd favorite reel behind the Curados/Citicas I have. I would've love to take advantage, but unless I can come up with my own spending mullah my fishing tackle stuff will have to wait until the season starts in late June.
  24. I agree that you should just try it out with the rod it came with and see how it feels. I would definitely suggest mono as the line as the rod is a MH/F (That is of course if it's stiff). Other than that, it was free might as well check to see how it works with any application you want to try.
  25. Interesting, I guess this is where everyone differs with sensitivity/feel. I use a 7'3" Veritas MH/F as a frog rod and had no problems feeling the fish on. I also have experience using my Compre 7'2" H/F rod with no issues either, didn't really pay attention about sensitivity on both, if one was better than the other or not. Anyway, I'd say Compre would be a good one too in that price range.
