  1. x2 I'm not sure how easy it would be for me to choose, I do have favorites that I tend to fish more with. Depending on the day and situation.
  2. What he said, basically.
  3. Here is my arsenal for 2013. In picture 1 from left to right. Cumara 6'9" MH/XF - Curadeo 50E GLX 853C - Chronarch 50E GLX 854C - Curado G7 GLX 894C - Curado E7 Crucial 7'2" MH/F - Curado G7 Aetos 7'6" H/F - CU200 Picture 2 from Left to Right Crucial Spinning - 6'8 ML/XF Stradic FJ 1000 Daiwa T Rod 7' MH/XF - Quantum Energy PT Compre 7' M/XF - Citica G7 BPS Pro Qualifier Tournament Rod 7' M/F - BPS Prolite Special Picture 3 from Left to Right - (My Arsenal from 2012) Avid Spinning 6'6" MH/F - Cardinal Agenda Avid 6'6" MH/F - Daiwa Lexa 100 High Speed 7.1.1 Avid 6'6" M/F - Daiwa Lexa 100 6 to 1 Clarus 6'6" M/M - BPS Extreme 5 to 1 Compre 7'2" H/F - Citica G6 Veritas 7'3" MH/F - BPS PQ Tournament Airrus Spinning Ultra XL 6'7" MH/F - Cardinal 302 Not pictured is my Loomis custom flipping stick (telescopic 7'6") paired with a BPS-PQ and Triumph 7' M/F paired with a Citica G7. This year I decided to invest in more quality rods. I do have other rods that aren't paired, I'm trying to sell. In all it would be a count of 31, couple would serve as backup (Compre 6'10" MH/XF, BPS Extreme 7' MH/F and V Rod 7' M/F in process of using warranty due to reel seat issue, so I maybe getting a Crucial in the same power action in the coming weeks).
  4. I used a MH/F 7'3" Veritas and a 7'2" Heavy/F Compre as my frog rods last season. Both can be found for under 100.
  5. Here are my setups in the different situations. Shore fishing - 1. Medium Heavy 6'6" to 7'-7'3 Baitcaster - All purpose 2. Medium 6'6" - lighter all purpose Canoe 1. Medium Heavy 7'-7'3 - All purpose 2. Heavy 7'6" - Heavy Cover/Flip/Frog 3. Medium 7' - Lighter all purpose 4. Spinning Medium or Medium Light XF 6'6-6'10" for drop shot, shakey head. Small boat Alone or Friends boat 1. Medium Heavy 7'-7'3 - All purpose 2. Heavy 7'6" - Heavy Cover/Flip/Frog 3. Medium 7' - Lighter all purpose 4. Medium/Moderate - for light cranks and medium 5. Medium Heavy 7'-7'6" Football Jigs and Plastics 6. Spinning Medium or Medium Light XF 6'6-6'10" for drop shot, shakey head. That is what I usually will carry on the different situations. I do own more combos than that (19), that is not including my cheaper rods/salt water and older ones that my family would use or friends. I am also preparing for the next year or two as I continue to research which Bass Boat I want to invest in. Hence the amount of combos, other than I just have to have them. lol For now I'll rotate them and give them all a good work out this season.
  6. Braid and tie on floro leaders when needed.
  7. I'd go with the M/XF as this maybe more of an all around rod vs ML/F.
  8. My vote would be the St. Croix Legend if it will be the same price as the Avid.
  9. If you can afford it I'd get the Citica. I like the profile better than the PQ, HOWEVER, the PQ is still on sale and at the price at it is now it would be a "better" buy than the Citica. So you'd have extra cash to buy other things lure and such. Still the Citica performs a little better than the PQ in my personal experience, I own both reels. They both are great reels though and you definitely can't go wrong either way.
  10. Three ways I do it. 1. I did the after watering grass during the day and at nightfall would go out with my headlamp with the red light and used my lightning fast reflexes to catch them big nightcrawlers. 2. Another way I use to do to get worms is to place a pile of freshly cut grass and let it sit and at a certain level of maturity find nice worms digging around. You just keep piling grass all year long. 3. Lastly, and disgusting lol...I have a special spot where I deposit my dogs droppings in a dug up hole and would fill it up. A couple weeks of it usually gives me some good amounts of worms.
  11. I'd 2nd the Citica...nice work horse reel!
  12. Knew I shouldn't have said that, I couldn't pass up on buying a GLX 854C from a guy who didn't use it basically new for 280. He bought it last year it is the newer GLX.
  13. DOH! I won't be able to go back for another couple of days. Probably be gone by then, there was a handful left. DARN IT!
  14. So you mean the Villain at my local shop for 79.99 was an awesome deal? (I can Veritas Rods for 79.99 everywhere) lol I get confused sometimes which is the higher or lower end (only own 1 Abu rod Veritas), I thought the Villian was the one similar to the Veritas, but with the funky handle. I guess I should've paid attention. They had 1 Mh 7 footer, probably should've picked it up for that price. I needed another shore fishing all purpose one.
  15. That is still pretty bold, I guess I should take a look at them. So far I haven't found anyone who carries them locally up here. So if the *** Black is that good, I wonder how good the *** line would be. Thanks for the input, but I guess sensitivity is also subjective, but still if your statement is close then it would definitely be something everyone should buy. Anyone else have this experience?
  16. That is a bold statement. You have personal experience I'm assuming?
  17. Here it is, if you do a search of the forums you could find numerous topics, but here is a summary of what people will say. Veritas, *** Black, Compre, BPS Carbonelite, Cabelas Prodigy, Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth, Powell Diesel and St. Croix Mojo. Since you didn't specify what techniques you want to do with it, I'd say get an all purpose rod 7 MH will do the trick from all of these brands. It is all your preference in the end.
  18. My favorite shore fishing duo is 7'3 MH Veritas paired with a Citica G7 (20lb braid), it's a multi-purpose (spinnerbait, frog, jigs, and weighted texas rig) stick and take my Avid Medium 6'6" now paired with a Lexa 100 6 to 1 (12lb Yo Zuri) ratio for my lighter stuff (jigs, worms, shaky head, small cranks)
  19. Bought Seaguar Red Label 17lb test, pack of Lazer Trokar 5/0 EWG and Locally Made 3/4 Oz Football head jigs.
  20. HAHA well I don't think he needs another Frog Combo since what he has will do the job, he needs to spend his money on a "different" combo for sure! Go spend the money on a Crucial jig and worm, cause you need it!
  21. I would keep it if it is working. No need to get another stick. I personally i wouldnt use anything above 7'6 either. The rods i use are in the 7'2 to 3 rod, heavy Compre and a MH Veritas. Both work great for me.
  22. I own a Clarus crankbait rod and it has worked fine for me. I like that it comes with a limited lifetime warranty, so thats a major plus. However, I have been always contemplating on going for a BPS Crankin' Stick as they get good reviews and BPS has a decent return policy and warranty. So I think either one would be a good idea, just as a side note I also never owned a Skeet rod, but a lot of complaints about Quality of the rods, that is what has kept me away.
  23. At least you can fish! I can't until season opens on June 22nd, 2013.
  24. x2 PQ is better quality hands down vs the other two you mentioned. Plus the PQ is easy to dial in and have minimal backlash.
  25. I saw it on sale for 79.99 and yet I still couldn't pull the trigger on one. I hear the Smoke is good...I guess I can't get over the "Quantum" part. It took me sometime to even take my hand me down Quantum Energy PT. Still don't use it much, even though it's a smooth reel and I just cleaned it and it seems to be even smoother than I last remember. As for the best rod for the money. I think it depends on a lot of things..especially if you're asking about the uses of the rod. Since you didn't state for what technique, I will just assume you mean a good all purpose rod. If that is all you could have. This is all based on personal experience. Sub 100 - Compre, Veritas MH/F 7'+ 100-200 - Crucial, Avid..MH/F 7'+ I just bought an Fenwick Aetos and I really like how it feels and very comfortable. You should check that out. If it works out, I may have found my rods that I would use to compliment my GLX and Cumara. 200+ - Cumara 6'9" MH/XF As for higher than that, I wouldn't know personally. I did just buy a GLX, but I wouldn't call it an all purpose rod yet..(853c) I am probably going to use it as my main jig and worm rod. If I had to pick an all around rod, I would probably say St. Croix MH/F in Legend Tournament and above...line post..as the Cumara is geared more bottom contact.
