  1. I forgot which thread it was, but someone made the comment. Instead of calling it a Curado G, if they named it line XYZ and kept the Curado in a different line/price range. People would've stated XYZ is an awesome BUY! Casts like a Curado and performs just as well. At the MSRP of 159, it's a steal! I totally agree that would've happened.
  2. Yes definitely worth fixing if the damage isn't irreversible! I own one and it is still works smooth.
  3. This is leading to a brand bashing thread. x2 that is the best statement on this thread. kickerfish1 has given good advice too.
  4. The rumor is a new reel will be introduced, according to another board a guy is on the inside and testing the new reels. He can't say much other than that it's awesome and it's going to fill a gap with the current model. Another rumor is that the Chronarch is getting an update too, all will be announced at iCast 2013. I guess it's a pretty good assumption that there will be something new this year. As for G being terrible without "really" using it on the water is a worthless opinion. Sorry no offense, but you shouldn't review something you don't use. I have 3 of them and they work just as well as my E series and can't complain. They are still work horse reels and are main stays in my arsenal.
  5. Yeah we've hit some nice warm weather here in Ontario and LOVING IT! I can take the kids now to fish with worms. Too bad I can't target "bass" officially, but I have caught my first out of season bass when I was fishing for Crappie last Sunday. I was surprised it was a bass, I was expecting a catfish the way it came in. Caught it on a gulp minnow. Suppose to stay warm for the next week too.
  6. hah that is true, never thought of it that way, I don't know just me being paranoid about it when I hear the rubbing noise I guess.
  7. I would go for a Chronarch too, love mine!
  8. Man that sucks, sorry to hear that. It sounds like something happened to it before or during transport. Really, really sucks to see that. I would say see what happens when you send it in, and if you have to I would use the wildcard. Curious though, I've always wondered if a rod glove could actually "damage" the rods or guides when you pull it off and on. I use Rod Gloves that I always think while I slide it on could damage the guides. I bought the more expensive neoprene for my 2 of my GLX rods, still I am very careful when I slide them on. Does anyone else get paranoid when putting on a rod glove/sleeve on your rods? I see videos where they just whip them off and on, while I am very careful and slide them off or on slowly. lol
  9. Yum Money Craw - Virgo Blue Yum Craw Papi - Ultimate Craw Yum Shakalicious - Ultimate Craw Yum Skahalicious - Watermelon Seed Zoom Finesse Worms - Green Pumpkin Zoom Trick Worm - Green Pumpkin Yum was on sale at BPS for 2.47 each and the Zoom baits were on sale for 25% off. Spent 20 bucks total after tax.
  10. I don't own a Revo S, but my Citica G gets a lot of use. A staple in my arsenal, great all around workhorse.
  11. Agree to everyone who states keep the two combos and get a new spinning outfit. ML/XF or M/F is what I would recommend.
  12. YES! I feel like a kid every time.
  13. I'd also look into the Shimano Compre, it is my favorite 100 dollar rod. Another decent rod under 70 is a Daiwa T Rod, it is a better build overall vs a Veritas, not that a Veritas is a bad rod. I'd go one up over the Sellus too, if you get a Clarus or Compre they have lifetime warranty.
  14. Just a FYI - you can by a Symetre FJ for 59.99 at American Fishing Legacy.
  15. It was my Curado 50E, I don't normally have issues with backlash on it, it was my favorite reel to use last season. First backlash I had on that one too, I think I chucked it too hard into the wind as my casts before that was manageable. Just got over eager trying to hit a spot.
  16. I wondered the same thing, thanks for clearing that up. I'm like mine doesn't sound like that!
  17. What is your budget? I use these as my drop shot rods. 1. Shimano Crucial 6'8 ML/XF - Spinning, which costs around 150. 2. St Croix Avid 6'6" M/F - Baitcaster which is around 170.
  18. Yeah it was my 2nd time too, it was really bad...I had to even go down all the way to my backing mono line. Mine was 8lb P-Line Floroclear with 6lb line mono backing. I had to make many cuts to the line, it was dreadful, worst ever! Silly me thinking I'm so good I can cast into heavy winds.
  19. HA sheesh, that was so simple and never occurred to me either. DOH!
  20. Nice, those are some good sized smallmouths. Congrats to you both!
  21. And don't do what I did, try throwing a baitcaster into 30+ mph wind. Worst birds nest I have ever done yesterday. I was stubborn, got away with it a few times before and pushed my luck way too much. I agree that it depends on how badly you kink your line that degrades the strength of your line, not simple overruns or anything that is easily fixable with your thumb.
  22. This is good advice. Also as Darren M stated they maybe short striking or they have a hold of the bait.
  23. Yeah sometimes adrenalin just over takes you. I've started using the advice Chad Hoover says to keep you from doing the hookset too early. He says say the phrase "Set the hook" and then swing away. It has helped me when I started learning to use buzzbaits.
