  1. Bagley Balsa B2 Crankbait!!!! Balsa B2 Crankbait took the title in the 2004 Bassmaster Classic. It features a square lip to help it bounce of obstacles, and its body is made with high density balsa wood. This unique design allows it to float when you let off the line, helping you to get out of snags. Designed for stump and timber environments, the Bagley B2 is ideal when fishing near heavy cover. This bait has never failed me
  2. Ive finally decided to do away with mono, I fell in love with 15# Braid with a 8-10# fluoro leader. In a nutshell Fluoro is practically invisible under the surface of the water, it is stronger than mono with less stretch giving you the best feel, it has less memory than mono as well.
  3. if you do hold them behind the head or sideways be sure to get your hands wet first.
  4. I am NOT the best knot guy***
  5. I am going to have to practice that Albertos knot.
  6. I went shopping yesterday, Since I will be fishing water with TONS of weeds and Lots of wood structure I decided to keep my 12# invisibraid and I bought a small spool of Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon 10# for a 6' leader. I am the best knot guy, I normally use a improved clinch knot for mono or fluoro but when I use that same knot on braid the line breaks on almost every hook set... Also what knot should i use when tying the fluoro to the Braid?
  7. All about the shallow water grass and deep water structure!!
  8. ***** Chronarch 200e5 & Chronarch 200e7*****
  9. Thanks for the vid, I the only reels I use are the Chronarch 200e7 and the Chronarch 50e baitcasters. I fell INLOVE with the chronarchs. 1 is on a 7ft Duckett Micro magic Medium Heavy rod and the other a 7ft Skeet reese medium heavy jig rod.
  10. Which line has the least amount of memory? The main reason I use braid is because it wont pigtail. Almost every time I spool up with mono it seems to start twisting and pigtailing..
  11. What is the difference between Mono and Fluoro?
  12. I am heading out this friday to try my luck on a very good pond. The last time I tried it I had a little bit of success with the Z-man Chatterbait on Braid. I was just going after a reaction bite. The water was extremely CLEAR 15+ feet visibilty. I could see the fish just watching my lure go right by their face in 2-5 feet of water close to the banks on top of heavy moss. i figured out what presentation I am going to try next, The Mojo Rig with a natural color finesse worm or grub. Now i just need some advice on what line to spool on my rig for the extremely clear water conditions. I really don't know the differences between Mono and Fluro.. Should I stay with the green invisibraid and attach a fluro or mono leader? I believe the fish are spawning or are in the shallows about to spawn. The water temp is in the lower 60's and the temperature outside is mid 70's and sunny. I think a texas rigged worm would just penetrate the heavy moss too deep and I would just drag in moss every cast. Thats why I want to try the Mojo Rig. Advice? Thanks, Zack
  13. I would use Mojo Rig, you can youtube to find out how to use it properly. Ive never used it but i am going to try this friday. Also, In super clear water what line should be used? Fluro leader on braid?
  14. Thanks for all the advice and concerns, I will take them all into consideration. One more question, what type of line should I use in Extremely clear water? Fluro? Mono? Braid? Braid with leader?
  15. ** I know it wasnt because they could see me**
  16. Hey guys, A few years ago some friends and I fished a pond that is located behind an Industrial plant. We went because a friend of mine fished it a week earlier and caught a 11.2lb bass on a live crawfish) The pond was about 20 acres in size, it had an island in the middle and was shallow around the banks besides in a few areas. The water was extremly clear, you could probably see 10+ feet. It was mid september when we fished it right around mid day. The Temperatures were in the upper 90's. We started fishing and immediatly were catching bass from the banks left and right. Not 1 fish that we caught was under 4lbs I couldnt believe my eyes. In 20 minutes I had caught at least 6 fish and they all were huge. I was throwing a Zoom finesse 6" watermelon seed worm texas rigged. My friends were throwing spinner baits and were still catching numbers and size. The bottom on the pond had healthy thick moss and plenty of structure everywhere. I was literally watching fish ambush my bait from structure as i was retreiving. Well, after about my 8th fish I hooked onto a PIG and just at that time my friend had turned on his video camera and taped me catching a 9.5lb HOG! I got it to the bank and just started screaming with joy. I had never caught one that big at the time. I was going to take it home and get it mounted, I didnt bring a stringer so I took some of my fishin line and tied it to a stick on the bank. Short stroy long THAT WAS THE BEST POND IVE EVER FISHED! So, now that its been a couple years I started thinking about going back. Well I found out that a good friend of mine got a job at that plant a few months ago. He told me that we could go fish that pond WITH PERMISSION! I had never been so excited! Last friday we went out there, it was the first time I had been there in about 2 1/2 years. Here is how it went: First off the water temp was around 60-63F The water clarity was crazy clear. Visibilty was 15+ feet. I tied on a chatter bait (white) just because. First cast I caught a 3lber in shallow water, He hit it as soon as it hit the water. Other than that first fish i caught a couple more. The problem was I was watching fish in 2 feet of crystal clear water just watch my bait go by. The fish were in groups on 3 or 4 every four feet down the bank just watching my bait swim right by their face. The fish I did catch were down the bank or in a bit deeper water ( fish I couldnt see) I mean some of the fish that were right in front of me were 5-7lb fish, it was making me really frustrated. After i walked around the entire pond I decided to throw on a natural color jig. I still couldnt catch the fish that were really shallow but i did catch a few out in 10ft of water. I will say I was extremly disapointed because I was expecting an awesome day like last time. Were these fish spawning and not wanting to eat? I know it was always because they could see me ( I would sneek up and cast before they could see me) They may have seen the line? I was throwing 15lb invisibraid but these fish are not under heavy pressure. I think my friends boss goes out there and fishes everynow and then on his lunch break. Oh i will say my friend that went with me was throwing a shallow diving REBEL square lip crankbait Crawfish color and he caught a few more fish than me but nothing big like we would catch a couple years ago... Im just dumbfounded. Im goin to go back this weekend weather permitting... any adice?
  17. A friend of mine guides down here near galveston (salt water) and he does alot of the big redfish and trout tournys and when he uses live croker for bait he even uses the off set hooks. He swears by them. So years ago after my first trip out on the bay with him I made the switch and I have been happy with them. Just lately Ive been reading alot about people sweating by the straight shank.
  18. Great advice! Thanks! Ive always used Off Set worm hooks for texas rigged worms and plastics. Should I switch?
  19. One of my favorite baits are actually Money Minnows. Ive caught alot of good fish on them. Other than money minnows ive never really fished swim baits. My tournament partner swears by flukes. I just have never used them therefor i really dont know what types of hooks, wieghts ect. to use. Do you have any particular swimbait in mind that you like most?
  20. Maybe give me an idea of what some of yalls favorite lures are and what lures bag the biggest fish for you! Thanks!!
  21. Hey everyone, I live in south texas near Houston. I fish Lake livingston alot (tournaments) and do alot of small lake fishing around the area. My wife just bought me a new KVD tackle bag. Every angler knows how exciting it is to put organize and sort all of your tackle especially if you have a new tackle box or bag. Well, I have an assortment of worms and spinner baits and rattle traps all the basic stuff.. I am going to take a trip to the tackle store or look around online to buy all new stuff for my new bag. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I should buy to have a COMPLETE bass fishing tackle box? & anything that can set my tackle above all my friends? Any should have accessories ? Specific Lures, brands, colors would all be helpful. I know the basics and what colors to throw in what conditions and clarity ect. So you dont have to act like your talking to a begginer. Just curious if I can find out some lures or baits that I didnt know about or anything. Thanks guys, Zack
  22. Well my buddy and I placed 1st in the little tourny! I started with a Zoom 6" watermelon seed lizard Texas rigged and right off the bat caught the 1st fish in 3 feet of water around structure. Then my partner landed one with a white/grey spnner bait in 5 feet of water. ( the wind was gusting 15mph ) After the first two fish we were not having much luck. I decided to try out the carolina rig, I threw it around structure in 3-5 feet of water and in deep 15-20 feet. I didnt have and luck with it. After an hour I switched to a Zoom finesse worm black red flake and caught one in 2 feet of water almost instantly. ( Same worm I caught the fish in my avatar & same lake) My partner also caught another one on the same shallow structure with his spinner bait the next cast. One of the other teams also pulled one out of the same 2 feet of water only a couple minutes later. At that point we were on the windy side of the lake because we had already covered most of the lake besides the boat docks and piers. We traveled back to the protected side of the lake and started all over but with a new approach. We got back to the same location where I caught the first bass of the day on the lizard. I tied on a 3-4 foot diving crankbait, the first cast I caught one as I was going to pull the lure out of the water like as if he followed my lure before striking. So then we tried all the ledges that are located next to the shallows where we caught fish, we tried them with crankbaits and no luck. It was a 5 fish limit and we just caught 5... all keepers. None of the other teams filled their limit. Our total wieght was EMBARRASSING at 6lbs but it still won it for us on a bad day! Dont know what we could have done better to catch fish with more size, Ive caught plenty of big bass out of that lake but NEVER before the water was in the upper 60's Zack
  23. Glad to be here!
  24. Thank you for the help!! I got your message, That sounds interesting! I will have to tie that onto one of my setups. Thanks!
