  1. My last one of the day....
  2. Not one of the greatest days but atleast im on the board! Sorry about the small print on my measuring tape, only one i had. Fish 1- 17.5" Fish 2- 17" Fish 3- 17" total= 3 fish for 51.5" so far!
  3. Yup turnpike it is! They are definitely there. That pond in particular comes right out of tradewinds park. They are huge there too. That one my friend caught is considered small for the ones I catch there. That upclose one i caught was a 6 pounder.
  4. The last 2 bass I actually caught on gambler swim baits but the big bass and snakehead both caught on that kvd frog. Any guess as to the weight of the big bass?
  5. I haven't fished in about a month but been dying to go out. Went with a buddy of mine and my girlfriend and the bite was on! Im an idiot and forgot to bring my tape measurer for the florida bragging rights tourney. Ill remember next time. Enjoy the pics!
  6. To be honest because of Capt. Shane when I first caught snakeheads I killed them but after the first 2 I just felt horrible about it. Did some research and found out they are being hunted down for the wrong reasons. They are a blast to catch even though they almost always destroy my lure. I catch my biggest bass in the same spot I catch huge snakeheads
  7. Wish I saw this before going out today! Caught a solid 3 pounder probably around 20+ inches. I like this idea though. I think the one month, best 5 fish idea is awesome!
  8. Yea, that split second of hesitation is important. The minute I lose site of the frog and see my line getting tight I set the hook hard, usually up instead of to the side. I noticed I almost always rip the frog of snakeheads mouth if i set it sideways, maybe because they have flatter mouths than bass? But everyone loses fish now and then regardless of what you do, its all about practice!
  9. Thanks man, try using one of the spro popping frogs they really go out of they're way to eat em'. Cast down the bank so they wont hear you coming! Good luck!
  10. From my experience I would say it depends on the weather that day. How sunny it is, cloud cover, etc. A good app u can download is called bassmaster powered by scout look. Also keep an eye on barometric pressure, dropping pressure results in better fishing. With that being said it all depends but if its real sunny with clear skies, fish heavy cover, get your stick baits under those mats and grass. If you got good cloud cover than anything can work, the fish will be more active, try the edges of structure and grass mats. That's my 2 cents. Good luck!
  11. Well now they are only $4.50 at dicks sporting goods lol so u can get it and try it out
  12. Hard to compare a stolen senko to a $8 lure lol
  13. Lol yea definitely. The 3 snakeheads i caught when i went back were smaller than the one i lost tho, i could tell by the fight they put up. I also realized the snakeheads really prefer the spro frogs rather than the soft plastic ones. I use the Stanley ribbits because of the paddle feet action but just in one day using the spro I've caught more snakeheads in that spot than 3 months worth!
  14. Keep the rod tip down. With experience you can feel when they're gonna jump.
  15. The one I'm using is by booyah. Going for only 4.50 each at dicks sporting goods. And there's no worries fishing where I go at least, plenty of space to pull off onto the shoulder
  16. So I had a previous post on how I got my new spro popping frog stolen by a monster! Came to the conclusion it was a snakehead. So today I went back with revenge on my mind! Here are the pics!
  17. So a few days ago I was fishing one of my favorite ponds, best spot for frogging, I decided to whip out my new spro popping frog (big). After about 10 casts my frog gets inhaled! I say inhaled because there was no splash, no noise, nothing! To me it looked like when a whale comes up and blows air. I've never seen or had that happen before. My first guess was snakehead but it looked fatter and stubby. I fought w it for about 3 minutes and it never surfaced just took off w my line. The second I tightened my drag just a tad my 50# braid snaps and there goes my new frog and possibly a pb whatever it was! My question is what happens to that frog in the fishes mouth? They eventually die or what? Any chance of seeing him float up and get my frog back lol? I also don't understand how 50# power pro snapped considering I tie a mean polamor knot. Just wanted to share that crazy moment. Any comments?
  18. Fished out of clewiston on sunday, had a bad day. Wind was blowing hard so had to stay in and nothing was working for me. Used everything from spro popping frogs, flukes, worms, gambler big EZ, traps, cranks even live shiners! I lost a decent one on my first shiner then caught a gar after with the same shiner. Then i could only get mudfish/bowfins so bite. Sun was on full blast, even tried flipping and even that left me empty handed. Good luck out there lol
  19. Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean exactly by "finesse" and what would you suggest is best to use this weekend? (Clewiston area)
  20. From all the advice i have gathered for my own trip this Sunday, the best thing I've learned is definitely stick to natural colored presentations, watermelon seed, green pumpkin and even black, i was told work best. Topwater seems to be great for the mornings and flipping heavy cover in the afternoon if the sun is out. Im not familiar with where you going to be fishing or any of Lake O for that matter but I've done a lot of research on here and on the web. Also if you want to consider it i have also heard using live shiners is a guaranteed method to catch some real nice bass. Im renting a boat out of Clewiston this weekend hoping to have a successful day. Im not sure if you have a BassPro shops around you but what i did was go there and talk to as many employees there who have fished lake O before and got several different tips and good locations to check out. Either way good luck on your trip and ill give you a report on whats working for me and what isn't!
  21. i would say take the c14 east because if u go west it ends pretty quick. I dont know exact spots but just turning into the canals that go behind houses are always the best. If you can launch on the hillsboro canal its even better because u can fish all the way to lox, big snakeheads and bass all over.
