  1. I'm tired of the Okie wind turning into Arkie wind!!!!
  2. I haven't read everything on here so I apologize if I am re-hashing something, but as far as hook sizes go I would want to match the strength of the rod and line to the hook. If you are throwing a light wire hook you don't want to straighten it out or yank it out on the hookset with a heavy line and heavy rod. Drop shot hooks land fish and so do punching hooks, but the hookset is much different due to the hook strength. Consult with Glenn May. He can set you in the right direction. All in all, I'd match my setup with my hook size.
  3. I think you should get by with the Super Fluke without going to the magnum. That's what I always throw. Even easier on a double fluke rig. I like pearl and white ice colors. If not, put it on a spinning set up. I always neglect my spinning set ups but they are ideal in some popular lure techniques.
  4. A radio is the one feature I wish I had on my boat. I have considered installing one. If I had one I'd play Stranglehold every time I launched! It wouldn't help me, but it would be nice.
  5. Don't hesitate to go to the doctor is anything happens like discomfort. Makes you wonder how our ancestors made it through the wild without modern day medicine. Hope everything is alright. Probably more of a mental thing than physical illness. Can we start calling you Snakehead?
  6. If you can find a local shop that you can trust and will provide excellent customer service when you have a problem I'd give them a shot. They are supposed to make money on customers. Just make sure you aren't getting your head knocked off and it's okay for small town business to make a few bucks on you. Sometimes you pay a little more for inherent value such as customer service.
  7. Everybody is throwing out a bunch of dollar figures on it's value, but what options did it have (motor, tranny, color)? Just curious. I love watching Barrett-Jackson every year. I'm not an appraiser, I just finance them. Original owner and a story go a long way for sure. What about the paperwork? Did he have any of the stuff like a build sheet or bill of sale?
  8. I always have it on deck with my other "name brand" reels. It is NOT inferior.
  9. Thanks for all of your input guys. Are you guys ordering these jigs directly from the manufacturer or through someone like TWarehouse?
  10. This is true. Not discounting the grub and jig head combo at all, but I'm referring to the female persuasion of these type baits (skirts).
  11. A ton. Mostly techniques and what to look for in structure and fish patterns. Those would be the most useful. I've also learned that everyone has an opinion on everything and they all vary. Oh, and Glenn May is the man! My apologies to the rest of the members. I've also learned that despite the annual Thanksgiving melee, LSU fans and Arkansas fans can come together and have a bipartisan conversation about bass fishing...
  12. I have checked out that Northstar Bluegill and it looks awesome. And there is a "new gill" color I think.
  13. Give me your opinions and input on your favorite jigs, colors, types and brands that you like. I'm going to order a few and am curious as to what you guys like. Thanks
  14. I'd say now. Can't hurt. You never know. Summer time is typically good. There's fish all over the water column so who knows. You'll get a ton of different answers.
  15. As many people have stated, spool up with some cheap mono as backing then tie into some braid and finish the spool. In reality I don't think you would need 150 yards of braid on the spool for one outing. Take up some of that spool capacity with cheap mono like Shakespeare Omniflex mono. Something of similar diameter to the braid of your choosing.
  16. F&I (Finance) for a large Buick GMC dealership.
  17. You guys are cracking me up!
  18. BassPro Pro Qualifier or Abu Garcia Orra with rod of your choice.
  19. I don't know because I was swimming them and using a jerk jerk pause, but for the Kentucky's where I was fishing you could have let a Senko fall over the rock ledge. Maybe it would have worked on the fall.
  20. You lost me at man thong....
  21. I should say it looked like it dove nose down to the point that I could not see anymore which I estimated anything deeper than 10 feet.
  22. It very well could have been within a 5 foot window. I could see 10 feet deep I know for certain, but anything deeper than that is hard for me to tell. From my vantage point it looked as if he/she was in a nose down attitude hugging the bottom. I'm not good at judging underwater distance and my point of reference was my depth finder which is accurate.
  23. Tom, I have a question about the bass that move from shallow to suspending. What change in depth is this assuming? Yesterday I must have spooked a bass from the shallows and I witnessed him dive straight down the lake bottom. It was a very steep grade. My lake is clear and deep.
  24. If you like a steady retrieve check out the swimming fluke. I has a paddle tail.
  25. I love flukes. I fish them just below the surface with a color I can see underwater, usualy pearl. I use a 4/0 or 5/0 hook with a screw that I can twist into the nose of the fluke. I find this helps the fluke from sliding and losing its action. Like other guys said jerk, jerk pause. My most recent discovery was the double fluke rig. I like to toss if everywhere in the shallows.
