  1. I don't know if it's as much about "proving" anything to me. To me it's the start of the build up to the 500. After a few months it's just nice to see a car hit the track. But not today. It's postponed until tomorrow. And apparently Rusty Wallace will make a few laps in the Blue Deuce tomorrow...
  2. I want to go to Daytona at least once in my life. I've got to learn these driver swaps that happened in the silly season.
  3. Fox Sports 1 has made my day by broadcasting from Daytona. Only bad thing is no cars on track due to rain. The 500 isn't too far away...
  4. When you look at spinnerbaits, buzz baits and A-rigs with all the metal wires you would think no. Only one way to find out, go fishing!
  5. I like the flat point at 79th Ave that drops sharply into the red river channel.
  6. As far as emissions go, ask the Tulsa, OK fairgrounds how they handle indoor emissions for the Chili Bowl. It can be done!
  7. Fishing could be described as chasing tail! Maybe bass or striper...Anyhow, I was going to throw the Florida Keys in the hat. It is a fun place! However, you may want to check out Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. There will be plenty of reasonably priced lodging and 40,000 acres to fish.
  8. Got a crappie swimbait?
  9. You gotta want to fish pretty bad when you drill a hole in the ice...
  10. I love the double fluke aka "donkey rig"!
  11. I am not at all qualified but I am a member of BR so... 1. Location: fish waters that have potential for big bass 2. Adapt: be able to adapt to changing weather patterns 3. Big baits: I don't get excited about a Happy Meal, but offer me a Baconator and now we're talking!
  12. I don't fish DeGray very often but there's a few areas I have had success. If you launch at the spillway, head to the mainlake and stay to the left (west) around the Iron Mt rec area. There is a long point that runs in an east/west direction. Fish that point. Also, I have caught bass in the Yancy area. You can catch them as far back as you can go in that cove right up against the bank. There is also some standing timber along the way. Sometimes they will school in the channel leading into Yancy (which is an awesome time). If you want Kentucky's fish the bluff walls on the lake with a shakey head.
  13. I may get to fish tomorrow. I was running a 101 fever Thursday night so I didn't go yesterday morning. One thing that has worked for me was pumpkin trick worm on a shakey head 2 weeks ago.
  14. With air temps in the 80's and the spawn over, would you guys start targeting off shore humps in deeper water?
  15. Fish them all the time and match the hatch.
  16. Capt Bob, this is 1st Mate Trailer. I did a take down and oiling. What is your advice on a cleaning solvent? I only added oil, no cleaning. When I say no cleaning, I mean I followed Abu G's advice and gave it a light rinse in tap water before take down (this is Abu's reel maintenance advice). Also, what is your advice on proper cleaning of the bearings? I don't expect you guys to pinpoint the squeaks but I bet I can gather enough info to hit all the important parts and make her smooth as you, Capt Bob.
  17. I'm wondering why it took 4 miles!!! Jeez
  18. He was the butt of many jokes, but sad news indeed. I'll be honest I haven't read much on the story. Anybody know why he did it? (Maybe a letter left behind???)
  19. I've always liked him somewhat (despite being a Longhorn). Probably because he plays next door to AR. I'm not even an NBA fan, but this act of kindness shows he is a class act!
  20. Carry some pliers to put it on the line and also to adjust length. But being a bass angler you probably already have that on your checklist.
  21. Both have mag brakes and it's on retrieve. Do you guys put anything on the bearings? And what grease do you guys prefer for the rest of the reel?
  22. You know you're "the man" when you can reply to a thread with your own videos! LOL
  23. All this stuff is true IMO. I have a Veritas but don't own a Shimano so I have no comparison. However, I can vouch for the rating on the rod action. I also don't have any problems with the guides or clear coat. The Veritas gets my thumbs up, don't know about the Sellus.
  24. 10-4. I was just following Abu's manual. Unless I'm totally crazy I thought it was the other way.
  25. I did some much needed maintenance on a few of my reels. I got one to quit squeaking. I put oil on the big brass gear teeth and the small brass gear that turns the spool. Also unscrewed the spool tension knob and did that as well. However, one reel that wasn't squeaky now has a faint squeak. I used oil that came from the manufacturer. I'm wondering what would be the most common area of cause for the squeaks. I know grease goes on the worm drive but would you put it anywhere else? Function is fine, just being picky. Thanks guys.
