  5. I'm lucky...usually use a cheap bic...one will last a couple weeks or so. Usually just use water if I keep up on it..if not will use some kind of gel. One can lasts months. Have done this for over thirty years
  6. When I lived in Oregon I caught smallies all winter long on the Willamette (conditions permitting) in water less than ten feet deep. Now that I live in Tennessee it is still kind of the same. Have caught smallies and largemouth all winter long in less than ten feet of water also. Do catch fish deeper but have had some GREAT days when it was cold...water temps in 40's and catching fish shallow. Good luck
  7. Fish with a "rod"....push a boat with a "pole"
  8. Comparing Seattle to the Raiders is a stretch....but oh well. Glad to see Hawks pick it up in second half. Next couple weeks should be interesting...very interesting.
  9. Have heard that the foam stuff is more of an insulation and dampens the feel...I have a couple rods (shimano) I really like that have it.. Also have several rods with the black carbon handles that are cool too. Cork is traditional and has it's place for sure. Keep my fingers on the line anyway so the rod is more important to me.
  10. Don't forget .... lie...lie...lie
  11. Purty river......used to use a glo bug and do well. Enjoy.
  12. Go a bit deeper and slowwwww down usually will get a bite or two.
  13. Watching the sun rise on calm waters and getting to see the begging of a new day...."another gift from above". Favorite place was running up the Columbia River in north central Oregon at first light chasing smallies and feeling the current tug at your boat and the anticipation of that big un
  14. Believe Silver Thread is around that price...have used for years....no complaints
  15. Funny you talk about the shoulder...I'm going to Physical therepy and he's "killen me" right now but it actually is getting much better. Said I have hope about no surgery as when I quit using it the pain goes away. Anyway...would be cool eve's and mornings but days could be awesome. Good Luck
  16. Having just got back a bit ago from Hilton Head south carolina I would be tempted to go back and do some saltwater fishing if I could. Quite a bit to see and do and pretty relaxing place. Great food in the area and I hear fishing can be decent. We did a lot of golfing as thats my wifes passion so I play once in awhile....but would love to fish some salt around here and then eat em.
  17. Glenn, Just saw this....dang you are so right about the great Pacific Northwest. Oregon is just about like Washington....Bass is trash. They are both slime rocket states for sure. So glad we have been blessed to be able to move to Tennessee....the attitudes are sooooo different. Lived there for almost sixty years. Wishing you all the best out there....seriously.
  18. We had snow in the mountains around us in Knoxville.....getting to be smallie time!!!!!
  19. Wow...some upsets on Sunday....Dallas I believe...Denver...and a couple others. I'm definitly no expert (which I have proven). Glad Seattle was able to pull another win off....
  20. Nice....but so strange to see no tree's.
  21. Gosh...don't think I can remember that far....the first outfit I remember using was a white shakesphere flyrod with a plufger reel. Ended up putting a Mitchell 308 on it for fishing bait. Also remember upgrading to a four piece eagleclaw and using a motoroil colored lizard with it's legs cut off to look more like a worm to catch bass.
  22. Good green tea is good too along with more book reading than tv watching...followed by exercise.
  23. Dad passed from dementia....it's sad....so sad. But in some ways they don't seem to know!?
  24. I'd be nervous after wrestling too and being around people at work that have some strange habits...especially in restrooms where paper towels seem to last too long!!! Anyway...tight lines
  25. Joining a club this December and force myself to fish some new water a little farther away more often. I enjoy new adventures and going to give this a try.
