  1. Wanted to report on this rod as it was the first rod I have ever bought sight unseen. I have one of the Lexa Flippin sticks and really enjoy this rod for brush hogs but wanted a spinning rod for light applications this winter....drop shot...small shakey heads etc. Well....this rod is a 7' 2" med light that has a TON of backbone.....a TON. It's rated for 4-12 but this rod has some serious shoulders. At least for this guy. Used the rod with eight pound power pro and a 6 lb silver thread leader and caught the tar out of the big smallies yesterday and only broke one off on a hook set so was a good day. Believe come spring may use this rod for a larger shakey heads as it will fill the bill nicely. Anyway love to start fishing with a new rod and it catches first time out....yup...really do. Tight Lines
  2. Yes....another thing taken for granted...it's got to be a lot of work for you all .... thank you
  3. Nice
  4. Live bait...on or off a lure
  5. This may come as a surprise but Sally Hansens Hard as Nails is awesome if your just doing a dozen or two jigs at a time. I put two light coats on my jigs. And it holds up very very well. Have been doing this for years and it just flat holds up well. Have very little paint chip and the eyes I put on my heads stay on well. Just sayin. Tight Lines
  6. Sweeeet game last night.
  7. Well, here's another one. I purchased a Diawa Lexa earlier this year. Very light , and had a fast action. Just ordered another one in spinning. For under a hundred bucks they are awesome so far.
  8. Seattle is looking like they did last year. Awesome game last night.
  9. Get it out....know how you feel....definitely. I was almost flower food this last year with acute pancreatitis and it was an awful road. For months sat on a couch and took pain meds. Then we lose our daughter to cancer. Life has it's lows for sure and it's just human nature to desire health and some of it's pleasures. Does make you realize when your in this spot what's important. My motto is God, family and fishing. As long as we're breathing there is hope. The best to you and your family and Merry Christmas. May God Bless.
  10. Thank you for sharing.....Merry Christmas to you all
  11. Heard Shasta is came up about 12 ft. That's with snow in the hills....hope it keeps rising. Rising water does tend to be dirty...hope it stays that way for awhile.
  12. Hunting is a good replacement...even golfing with wife. But like the outside sports that have myself involved rather than on a couch or chair. Unless of coarse it's nighttime or I'm really sick and can't go out. Live in a land of no hardwater so it's easy to fish...fish...fish
  13. I agree on the Regal...come in several sizes..bit spendy but great vises.
  14. You could always put your hand under the belly of the fish and lift....works pretty good. Then you can be more selective about where placing you hand. This is if price is an issue. Net is you other choice.
  15. Used to live in Oregon and was fishing the upper Willamette by Oregon city and was using a light spin rod with small jerk bait attached looking for bass or whatever. I hook into this 25 # chinook salmon and fought in for a long time on eight pound test braid. Got the beauty in and while it was laying by me on the bank all these joggers and walkers would stop (was by the river trail) by and say what's that or what kind of fish is that. Even did you catch that here!! I could tell I was fishing in an area where there is a lot of diversity!
  16. It is good that your getting all the rain....nature is doing what the experts said would take years to do as far as water. Sad so many are suffering though. Looking forward to watching the game myself.
  17. Powell was amazing when I fished it a number of years ago....so was Delta, Shasta, and Orville....oh the Columbia River. Worst to me would be body's of water that get hard for a few months....ugh.
  18. Looks like your all getting some rain and snow. Hope it keeps up. Has it affected the lakes much yet. Bite should be good anyway.
  19. Lets hope your right!!! But do have a fun and safe trip.
  20. Scariest one I ever hear was the purple pill could cause an oily discharge!!!!
  21. Could be wrong here but it was obvious to me the over dramatization of the Eagles when some plays were made and how you got very little of that from the Seahawks. Just another observation... Seattle defense looked good.
  22. You live in a land of hard water.....thank you I will stay south and use a boat. Don't need to prove anything to anyone
  23. Have had good results in winter around here since moving here from Oregon five years ago. I personally like clearer water and have had wonderful days in forty degree's of water and even water with ice. Have used an aqua view to check out some areas and am amazed of the fish concentration and how fat they are. Reaction baits have been best for me but have had some great hair jig days too. Favorite days are overcast or even a bit rainy in winter. Little wind doesn't hurt either.
