I try and fish all winter long and as I get older it can be painful too. I use some light gloves that I believe shooters use with some grip type stuff on fingers and palms. I don't want to loose too much sensitivity. But the biggie is I put a large "Hot Hands" in each front pocket. You don't want to get them wet which is why I have a towel hanging from my pedestal.
Any way works for me.
Yup...Ten Mile is probably your best option. Tach is beautiful but can be seriously tuff. If you want an adventure head to the Columbia....amazing in spring.
We moved to Knoxville from Oregon five years ago. Have no complaints about the smallie fishing in the Columbia...was amazing and the salmon and steelhead used to be to on all the coastal rivers but time has changed for those along with peoples attitude. Now we are loving the south and all the bass lakes a short distance from Knoxville and the year around fishing.
Tight Lines
Going to fish the Heartland here in Tennessee tomorrow with my wife's blessing. Normally no tourneys in December for me...especially when I lived in Oregon. But now...gosh...almost any weekend here around Knoxville. Have caught up with all the Christmas stuff so am going to see if I can root an acorn as they say. Merry Christmas to all.
Personally would save just a bit more and get the Tournament SS from Daiwa. Casting I love Shimano. But the SS's are battle ships. Light, smooth, great spool size for casting distance.
Just sayin
Different days different scenarios. I try to be quiet if I can as I don't know how they're going to be on this day. I do know when a bait gets close to the boat and I'm hitting the trolling motor and a fish is close to the bait...he' s gone. So I make it a habit of not stepping on the peddle when bait is close..
Oh my how things have changed since I fished out there with the state team (Oregon)a number of years ago. I remember having good times. Although I also remember it was the only place I've ever been where carp would hit a crankbait fairly regularly. Was amazing. I also remember huge schools of whites and stripers.
