  1. WOW......just WOW (shaking head in disbelief)
  2. Most of my rods and reels are pretty dated but when I got them they were top of the line and have taken care of them so they are still in good shape and catching fish. Would be nice to upgrade all my shimano's but at my age it probably ain't gunna happen.
  3. Have spent a number of years wading for trout out west and for smallies in streams. The most important item in my opinion is a pair of felt wading shoes or even corks if the rocks are bad. Landing on slippery rocks on your butt can be jarring. Do wear waders if water is cold...summer....not so much. As far as wading....your in the fish's home..quiet is better unless your going through a lot of dead water...then I tend to move quickly and don't care if I'm noisy. Have fun
  4. Truly an amazing river and area to fish....I miss it. P.S. Have always been satisfied with the big smallies
  5. Fish with my son Tuesday nights from 5 to 9.....$15.00 entry....great times
  6. You had the thrill and memories of this and the more you fish the more you will have. Great you are fishing with your dad.....enjoy. If you ever fish a tourney and have that happen ......ohhhhhhhhhhh........add a little pain. Tight Lines
  7. Glad your ok......you will remember this for a long time and your very fortunate to be able to share it with others. Now enjoy your new adventure of finding waterproof boxes that you can strap in better and new tackle to try. Tight Lines
  8. Gosh...this brings back memories of fishing "Brownlee Res." on the Oregon ... Idaho boarder. Algae was thick and in the mornings you could hear thousands of carp slurping on the surface on the shady side. We would just try to find clearer water down stream and did ok. I remember fishing pockets in a lot of rock walls....good luck.
  9. You mention first week of November and then October...? Both dates will probably get you into some grass fishing. Water should be down and more exposed.
  10. Fishing...fishing...fishing. Do love to golf with the wife now too and hunt occasionaly with my son. But never seem to get enough time on the water.
  11. Sometimes we go through cycles of not being able to do nothing wrong and then there will be a period of "OMGosh" moments or days. Fact of life......enjoy your time on the water and don't over think. Lots of good info above.
  12. Congrats and enjoy your new adventures
  13. Good info.
  14. A new adventure.....enjoy
  15. I've been putting this off for a bit due to reasons beyond my control....like the trip back to Oregon but now it's time to get the boat ready for fall and winter......No....not the hard water up north type ready but the cleaning the carpet and waxing one more time. Almost forgot how much work this is. Carpet and live wells got Simple greened and today its shining up the motor and boat. Will probably have to tell people to take their shoes off but oh well....:) Been catching quite a few fish and lately have been catching a ton of whites and they do make a mess. Anyway...tight lines all and enjoy the fall.

  17. Personally I texas rig with a straight shank hook...4/0 usually. Good Luck
  18. Could not go fishing for months due to Pancreatitus....so I feel your all's pain. When I opened my rod locker after several months...things were gray........ewwwwwwwwww......sadness You all get well
  19. Football...cooler weather...my predictions....more time on the water and less competition. Win....Win
  20. Have used the braid in lighter tests and love it....nice being able to give a little jerk and get off weeds....and long casts and sensitivity is over the top.
  21. That one has to be money!!!!
  22. Sounds like you did pretty good.....Don't know if I would have stayed in during the rain unless waves prevented me from getting out. Love fishing in the rain....less people and pressure on the fish and the cooler influence on the lake can make a reaction bite pretty good.
