  1. Awesome....good luck
  2. Some days the "TV" fish bite for me...other's ... not so much. Always worth trying....always.
  3. Talking about it ain't bad....did that for a number of years....60-80 hours a week. It really cut into the fishing though.
  4. Oh....for the record....I'm going to fish. Something about eagles and quiet water this time of year is just a big draw.
  5. Again..here I am thinking while wishing I was on the lake. This is a what if question and you cannot record on your TV. So would you stay home and watch the Superbowl or go fishing if these were your two options.
  6. Will have to agree with the above....this is going to be the year of more basics. Just not enough hours in a day to fish everything in the boat. I may save some bigger plastics for heading south but I'm sticking with a smaller selection and trying to fish that well. I may even try to slow down more.....hmmmmm.....oh I hope not....only do that in winter!!
  7. OMG.....used to think the California Delta was my favorite....I so did love it but it has been a long time now since I have been back. The Columbia River was amazing....Oh my gosh...no people and tons of smallies during the week. But the winter with its waves and cold.....NOT. I want to fish 365 if I can...especially since my body seems to voice it's concerns once in awhile now. I now live in Tennessee and everyday is a new adventure with amazing opportunities. I'd like to stay here and learn a new favorite. Right now...hmmmm.....Watts bar could be one of my favorites...especially if I could live on the water ....and Norris....no not Norris...winters are awesome...summers have a bazillion beer drinking pontoon boats. Think I would take Chick for a second lake.....but still looking. So little time...so many lakes.
  8. Have done well on eight also...but in winter if I'm in a real clear water area the six has given me more amazing days. I can fish deeper easier. Could all be in my head....but it's fun.
  9. So sorry for your loss....lifting
  10. Finding out my photo's are disappearing!!!!!! Back to drawing board.
  11. P.S. Hope your not using over 6# fluro right now.
  12. Tried the 90 today...love the color and action....but....no takers...has potential
  13. Since moving out from Oregon have had some amazing days on that lake in winter when there is ice and snow on the banks....deep is your friend....at least for me.
  14. I'm sure I did it by accident..but I did!!!
  15. It's done...went by Bass Pro yesterday and saw the cutter's on the rack....I'm now the owner of two 110's and two 90's. Going to be interesting....good looking baits. Thanks for all the input.
  16. These stories take me back to fishing Lake Powell many years ago. Myself and a friend were pre-fishing for a State Team tourney and didn't want to sore lip the fish for the tourney so we just covered our tubes with smelly jelly and tried to see how close we could bring the fish to the boat with no hook in their mouth. We used a very small hook buried in the tube. It was crazy fun....the water was clear and we would feel the bite and reel really slow while the fish was tugging away....remember having several fish come almost to net range. Do I do this now....NO.
  17. Lots of interesting stories....good read. My son and I have spent many days on the water and in the woods when he was younger. He loves hunting like I do fishing....but he does love the sport. Now....over forty years later with two young boys and a six month old baby girl...his time is very limited. Grand kids love going fishing and I try to make it fun by not over doing it and staying too long. Will be interesting in this day and age how long they will enjoy it. Daughter loved to fish with dad too once in awhile but she went to that big pond in the sky...where there is no pain and no limits.
  18. Thanks for sharing.....good looking family
  19. It was interesting to me when fishing smallies back home on the river on how shallow they would be in the winter. (less than 6 ft.) Water was an off color. Current was a factor and the less the better. Small black football jigs moved extremely slow with Smelly Jelly saved the day usually. Felt good with one or two fish sometimes. Also it didn't seem to matter whether it was sunny or not....but the sun sure made me feel better!
  20. Wasn't really going to post this but got to thinking if nobody posts (even me) it doesn't make much of a site....so anyway. Started the year with a five pounder in brutal conditions ....which was awesome. (was supposed to be a tourney that day..but canceled) Had another try at a tourney this last Saturday and we won. Wasn't a huge tourney but it was soooo awesome. Fished cleaned and was pretty relaxed...(I get wired and over think) What was so cool was that I went places that I had seen fish in the last couple weeks and they were still there....water temp was 39. A warming trend this week will probably change that but....it was a good start to the year. I even went golfing with the wife yesterday and she let me win too!!!!!! (This just doesn't happen. What a weekend. Tight Lines
  21. That will work...awesome
  22. Well....as I sit here having some coffee and thinking and checking out a couple other sites....(sorry) before I hit the water I saw where someone was waiting to hear good reports before they went fishing a certain body of water. I know when I steelhead fished back home many many people would wait till they hear good stories...me....I want to make the good stories. Same thing bass fishing or what ever. They are there....they gotta eat...Kind of why I love bass fishing. Such a challenge at times and a super high at others. P.S. Praise God for each day on the water......Yup Guess that's why I love all the seasons....BUT....fall is my favorite as you get all the colors to brighten those cloudy days
  23. Hope you get feeling better real soon. I too haven't had a flu shot in over 30 years...I remember they made me feel awful. Well....I've had em the last two years due to a weakened immune system from a bump in the road a couple years ago. So far so good...they still made me feel funny for a couple days but not the down and out funny.
  24. Not sure how you all do it....I can hardly go two or three days!!!!
