  1. If it's as big as it looks ya may might want to not stress the jaw quite so much....nice looking fish.
  2. When I lived out west Orville and Shasta were great in the spring rains....especially where water was flowing in. May be to far for ya though.
  3. Hope your up and well soon....Been fortunate so far...have not been sick. Had the shot the last two years as doc said I must due to life's bumps...before that I never had one...sooooooo....who know's.
  4. We've had it from the 80's to the 40's....not ready for the real warm yet...but dang....we are getting water!!!
  5. Now that weather is getting better hope to take the grandkids...but these days will be shorter than when I'm out by myself or fishing a small tourney. Like to be on water to see the sunrise and the sunset....body telling me different though sometimes.
  6. Welcome back....lots of rain in Tenn...but fishing's good.
  7. Dry Creek tubes...still a favorite
  8. Squad Minnow
  9. All my bank fishing is pretty lightweight. I use a fanny pack and carry a spinning rod. A few pony heads with flukes, couple grubs, maybe a lure or two depending on season and it's off I go.
  10. Thank you....will set it up. Must be nice to not have a face only fit for radio!!!
  11. Love fishing here in the winters...average about .....well January I got out 9 times and so far this month it's been 7. Try and fish at least three days a week....I'm blessed. Usually from my boat. So peaceful in winter....people around here aren't crazy bout rain or cold too much.
  12. Heard a tourney weekend before it only took two pounds!!!
  13. Oh....my. One day at a time and keep up the love dad. You did good.
  14. Sorry for your loss's.....three years ago I had the alarm set to go to a tourney that morning. Three hours early I woke up in a ball of pain....ooop's feels like a major heart attack. Several hours later find out I have acute pancreatitis and am on drugs and water for almost three weeks. Was real close to being fertilizer....... So I too tend to look at things a bit different now. Doc's say I can't drink..and I don't smoke...soooo I eat....and have to be real careful here!! May your days be blessed.
  15. When I used to do a lot of bank angling I would try and walk softly as to not spook fish and cast along the bank vs always casting out. As far as bugs....I'm a bug magnet!!!! Long pants and shirt and I would use good repellent around ankles, neck, etc. Right now I'm using a product with picaridin....deet destroys fishing stuff and this doesn't. I've already had two tic bites this year looking for golf balls on cold days sooooo...it could be an interesting year. And I'm pulling out the repellent.
  16. Thicker...falls slower...much. Takes two men and a boy to break....DO NOT get in electric motor or big motor. Would not work well with a Ned Rig...BUT...there are still a lot of anglers who use it for frogs and A-Rigs....I just use 40.....I can break it much easier and I like the fall rate better. 8 would have been great on your spinning reels.
  17. Cool...good for you.
  18. Well......I sure slept in late this morning....sheesh. (8:00) Anyway we only had five boats ....lots of cancellations. Day started beautiful...no wind...no rain...water was muddy and the main river current was hauling...OMG. It took 26# to win!!! (wish I had pic...sorry) He had an 11 and an 8 in the last two hours!! Second had around 15# I believe and then there was third....me....with my one fish. (6#) I learned a lot...had many short strikes...had three beautiful (big) drum...other than the one that took my Jackel jerk bait...sadness. Was still a beautiful day with good friends. Oh...did it rain....yes....it absolutely poured in the afternoon.....but I stayed dry....new r passed....whooohoooo.
  19. Well....finishing the coffee and a Nature's Bakery blueberry bar and it's off to Chic for our first club tourney of the year.....so looking forward. Could be muddy but am looking forward to the challenge. Will hopefully have a good story for you all.
  20. Hmmmmmmmmm.......No
  21. Well...it's happening...air temps are going up (60's)....water temps are going up (low 50's)....also had five....yes five boats at the ramp when pulling out yesterday.....sadness...winter is ending I think. Fishing....well...fishing was good...tough with all the high wind and muddy water but was a nice day with a good friend with some catching.
  22. I actually think I've put things in my mouth and rejected them so fast I've amazed myself!! Especially vege's when I was younger!!
  23. Well I went yesterday to my winter time private lake. Gosh....was very muddy but sure beat doing other stuff. Was actually a very nice day with good company. Water temp was 48 and even saw some fish jumping. Once again boat ramp was empty until came in and saw this one other boat pulling out. He said he got two small keepers. We had one small one and a keep. Soooo peaceful.
  24. Been awhile since I've fished the cold muddy water of the Northwest...but give me a 1/4 or 3/8 home tied jig (black/blue) with a large chunk and 20# line. I also like a soft entry to not try and spook fish just moving up from the depths. Matter of fact...today am going to try that here locally.....we had a ton of rain and the water is still in the 40's. Hopefully will have something to report.
