  1. Well.....I know my kids would be taken care of and they wouldn't have to take care of me when I get older and grumpier. But then that depends on how long I'm on the good Lords entertainment committie. As you mentioned....family and friends.....and would be awesome to do some bigger random acts of kindness with out people knowing.
  2. Well this was a big weekend. Friday I walked 18 holes at a local very hilly golf coarse which is something I haven't done in over twenty five years and then Saturday I fished a club tourney. This year is my wife's 65th and our 45 anniversary so she wants to go golf a tourney at Bandon dunes in Oregon. This is a bucket list thing for her. It's a links coarse and no carts allowed!!! So....I'm not in bad shape...but better needs to happen. Oh....first nine was good...boggy golf. Second nine.....ewwwwwwwwww. Tourney.....3rd. Slept like a baby Saturday night. Tight Lines all
  3. Yes.....there are many things to read and lures to apply to these reads. The biggest of all is "Time on the water". Sounds like your going to start off right...enjoy your time. If your not getting bit and don't see anything on the graph......move
  4. I can be on the Melton Hill in five minutes if I used the awful ramp at the bottom of our hill....but prefer driving ten minutes to a better ramp. Other lakes....within a half hour....Ft Louden, and Watts Bar. Norris....50 min. Douglas and cherokee an hour.
  5. Wow..just saw this article. While growing up in Oregon have fished for and caught many of these awesome fish. Sure wish they were managed better but they are awesome. Have caught a couple up to 12' long and it's interesting to use a bait that is the size of a good bass for a tourney!! Where the Columbia dumps into the ocean was my favorite area but below Bonneville was the most exciting as the current rushing by your anchored boat was chilling to me. Fighting those big fish in that current really lets ya know what muscles you don't use much.
  6. Well done...looks like a great day was had.
  7. P-Line makes a good snap
  8. Been using Silver Thread fluro for years....great cost and quality. Zero complaints
  9. Sadness....there's never a good way to go...but cancer sucks!!
  10. Great question.....was trying to think of good answer's as I know there's more than one. Guess the best answer is "your blessed"
  11. You have lots of friends!! Did I mention the Hill is my private pond in cold and bad weather....:) Now that spring is approaching and tourneys are starting I have to share.....:(
  12. Pretty pics....glad it's your house and not mine.....
  13. Well done.....enjoy the ride
  14. I'm almost like Catt.....prefer going into a local tackle store like I did in the good ol days. Like to BS with others and support a place where if I need something quick it's usually there. Pretty rare for me to order.
  15. Before I make that first cast I'm usually trying to remember to look up and just say "Thank you"
  16. Made me smile.....I have found when fishing with new people...as I'm a lot like you is I meet them at the boat ramp. So many will only fish for a couple hours and then want to leave and so they just keep talking about what they need to do and why they have to leave.....even if catching fish. I've learned that I'm not as young as I once was...even though the brain is trying to trick me into thinking that. Will still fish a full day....but I sure sleep good the next one.
  17. Been using the Daiwa SS1300 for many years. Have caught hundreds of steelhead and bass on them. Never had too back reel. Been fortunate.
  18. Well...was blessed once more with an empty parking lot here in East Tennessee. Arrived at ramp at 7:45 and hit the water. Was pretty cold....36 to be exact and that's not counting the wind chill. This little lake had whitecaps today which made the plastic bite kind of tough. Water temp was 46 I believe. Fished for about three hours and noticed they were really drawing down the lake....which made me nervousfor the ramp I was using so left early. Also forgot my lunch...I like to eat...so came home and touched up three reels that weren't performing to standards and tied some jigs for this weekend. Ended up with about seven fish...three keeps and this one nice one. Tight Lines
  19. It's kind of like have a house on top of a hill with a beautiful body of water below it.......it would be such a tease for me.
  20. My oh my....sooooooo glad we made that move to Knoxville area....supposed to have a couple days ahead where temps are supposed to be in the low 30's to low 50's. Have noticed this warming trend has a lot more people on the water....(sadness) but it does mean longer days and more opportunity's to fish with son and grand kids. They're kinda becoming locals at heart....if it rains or is cold they stay indoors.
  21. Nice fish....bass are trash in Oregon and not managed well at all either....so sad.....LOVE TENNESSEE!!!
  22. Have also found this to be so true with colors too....and yes I am with you on being stubborn about going to a whacky.
