  1. Last night fished a little tourney and it wasn't long before I had two in the boat for a three fish limit. But I found myself fishing a little faster wanting that next one and setting the hook a little harder. (i use braid with leader mostly) OMG....after I landed the second keeper I could not get one to the boat....it was almost funny (almost) then.....I broke off two with 25# leaders fishing a poisen jig. Now I know I'm not supposed to jerk like a maniac here but I did...I'm glad their building rods tough these days!! The others I was using a brush hog style bait.......usually never this much trouble...oh well....guess I'll watch a "MLF" and try to feel better.
  2. Oh...forgot about this one. We had to fly back to Oregon for my daughters funeral and two days before I had an infected tooth that needed to be pulled. Well long story short the medication they give you in advance wouldn't work as I was leaving in two days. So the day before we were to fly out I'm in the dentist chair and getting shots for pain. Come to find out that the infection was neutralizing the shots....sooooo.....I got my tooth pulled basically without any pain killers. Let me tell you that this was and is a leg straightener. The dentist....nurse...and myself were sweating bullets....OMG
  3. I hear ya...There's a couple patterns that when I prefish for tourneys that if that's deal I'm not going to find it. One is a weightless senko and or a carolina rig. Do I fish them....yes....do I enjoy that slowwwwwwwing way down stuff....Not really so I hardly ever do it...even though I do and have caught fish this way.

  5. Interesting how we are all wired so differently and how we approach fishing. After almost being flower food a few years back I know appreciate every day out on the water. I too love to win tourneys but know it's not possible to win them all and am going to have those off days which make even the good days even better. I too like to go around and learn spots or graph. Using an aqua view is amazing but time consuming to the tenth power but oh so cool. Anyway...tight lines all
  6. Acute pancreatitis....levels over 7000. Have never been curled up in a ball so many days of my life.
  7. I guess I fish to fast on them but I like to cover water. If water is dropping I fish near the ends normally but if water is steady I'll hit it about two to three times...bank, middle and end. Seems like sometimes fish tend to hang better in certain areas and should I figure that out it's down the bank and mostly hitting one of those three spots once or twice.
  8. Well ... the club had a tourney at Nickajack yesterday and I must say it was a very long day. Got up at two as wasn't sleeping well. So with three hours of sleep me and my partner hit the road. Really an interesting lake....have never been before and there are a lot of hazards to this big pond so was very cautious. My partner had gone down the previous week and had a bank he said some fish were on and they were still there...even though most were spots. I started really slow but finally put some spots in the live-well for a limit. Has been a long time for me to catch that many of these little short biters. Went to a ned rig and finally got better commitment. Was a good tourney as the club is getting ready for the state tourney this week. Our first place had 15 and change so I can see adjustments need to be made...(ya think) anyway. I had eight and change. Looking forward to spending the week down there and crossing fingers everything goes well. Going to prefish Tues and Wed try to learn. Did end up tied for third which was not bad but didn't get home till after eight....road construction....ugh. Tight Lines

  9. Well.....my wife grew up at the base of Mt. Hood and her backyard was the mountain. Yup...she claims to have seen it one time many years ago....will I question her.......NO
  10. Maybe they wanted to count the quarters to give you your dollar in change!!
  11. Thank you all for the great input...some better than others of coarse but all appreciated. Picked up some of the Seaguar 25# flippin fluro. Am going to try for leaders. The fish are in the tree's and I will cast for the most part to the outside and then a particular spot in the wood will look so good so will toss in the ol bait in the center.... ....wiggle...wiggle...tap...heavyness......lift.....#@!$ Will try some of the other options too...thanks again P.S. Haven't used #25 in years...not since chasing Chinooks out west!
  12. Have done all the above....literally line is coming in shredded!!! Just talked to a friend and he mentioned maybe using a stiffer fluro....never thought of this so may give it a go. Thanks for input
  13. Good Luck...have fun
  14. The little lake I fish a good portion of the time is loaded with tree's , rocks , and zebra's. Seems every time out now I break off one to three fish on the set. I believe fluro is the toughest right!!!! I'm second guessing myself to the 10th power. Have been using 20# fluro (Silver Thread)....30# straight braid (Power Pro).... Does not matter.....Do I just need to suck it up....Tight Lines
  15. Congratulations
  16. Dannnnnnnnng.....tough question. Tube....grub....tube....grub....gimmie a 4 inch Dry Creek green pumpkin grub...or..or maybe a chocolate one. 1/8 ounce head....six lb line.
  17. I agree totally...but have caught hundreds of smallies and landed with hand on belly....works great. Especially with rattle traps in their mouths!! Something about that trap noise when I go to land a fish......ohhhhhhh scary.
  18. I like the lower stretch of braid plus the viability and lastly the lighter braid falls better/faster and I can cast a long long ways which i like for fishing deeper water where I fish. I have used the ten and it's great...but six and eight just seem to work!?
  19. Dry Creek...watermelon candy....done
  20. Sweet...get er done
  21. Oh.....my......wow
  22. OH YEAH...another one!!! Was at Lake Powell for a BASS Invitational many years ago. I was new to this and pretty excitable. Well...got up real early to get to the ramp before anyone and I surely did and with a light show too. They had power strips at the motel I was staying at for the boats which was really nice...well...I drove off while leaving my power cord attached to the power strip. Sparks everywhere...oh my. I humbly went to office and told them what happened.
  23. Have had this happen to me also...have taken a three inch dinger or senko.....no weight on 6# line and fished early or late in day....worked for me...hope it helps.
  24. Remember going steelhead fishing back in Oregon with a buddy once and got to the river grabbed our gear ... put on the boots and !!!!!!...where did I put my fishing rod!!!
