  1. All the best to your friend...may his recovery be swift and the fish afraid.
  2. Did the same thing with jigs...OMG....not anymore....everyone ties jigs. But do still enjoy tying up secret baits.
  3. Ahhhhh.....more memories. Fishing the gorge in the Columbia River for smallies in the wind. With the current flowing towards the ocean and the wind blowing down the gorge usually from the Dalles up you had waves and rollers many days. You could pick your pool on up to Tri Cities and you usually didn't have to much competition on those days but the fishing could be amazing. The basic ritual was to head downstream...usually quartering across to the quiet side (if possible) a mile or two down and then fish back. Many a day waves lapped over the back of boat and many a day you had the boat ramp to yourself while you had 50 fish days of smallies up to five pounds and even some nice walleyes or a slime rocket or two. Cranks, jigs, tubes were baits of choice.
  4. Lots of good info....exercise is always good. Talking to someone you can trust is amazing also. Best of luck to you. Lifted......
  5. Fishing......one of those beautiful things we get to think/dream about all the time. We are blessed....
  6. What an adventure...glad all is well.
  7. Sorry for your loss....lifting
  8. Sometimes old topics need a freshening up a bit....all is good. Annnnnd sometimes individuals "like myself" have some difficulty finding old stuff. Annnnd just how many new topics do you think can come up.....site would be pretty slow. This is a great site with good people....enjoy
  9. My thought since I'm not from the area would be to go to a local tackle store or two and ask a few questions. There has to be some larger bodies of water in the area with parks and boat ramps and even bridges in these area's. These are all bass magnets and usually have bank access. Fishing's a bit tougher now due to heat and not drawing much water in my area but there are fish to be caught. Early and late seem to be best
  10. Casting Rods....Spinning Rods....they both equal a tug....which equals joy joy joy
  11. It's so hot ...most fishermen are staying off the water just like in the winter!!! Now jet ski's and wake boats is another topic.....at least they don't wake up usually before 10:00
  12. May you have 75 more birthdays....
  13. Awesome
  14. Wow...area's I don't seem to make it to...maybe someday.
  15. Normally use ten pound power pro in yellow with a fluro leader. Like the distance of the casts. Usually a ten or twelve pound fluro leader.
  16. Bass and other warmwater fish were considered trash fish by many "cold water" fishermen when I lived in Oregon. Many a mentality was to just throw them up on the bank....not as bad as the pike minnow but close. Was sad...So much nicer here in Tennessee.
  17. Have heard it would take quit a boat ride....waters warm way up!! That's amazing the temps your seeing.
  18. Wow...interesting....had no idea that water temps would be that much cooler in parts of the US I figured would be warmer. Thanks all.
  19. Ok....curious....we had temps up to 91 on the water here in Knoxville on a small lake I fish quite a bit. Curious what temps you all are fishing in your areas.
  20. Thank you all.....this has been a year of "many" broken lines and for the life of me I have tried to think of everything.....believe you me. I've been second guessing my second guessing. So will just chalk it up to old age and feeling like I have to jerk to hard to compensate for the ol body slowing down and falling apart!!
  21. Love watching the world wake up in the mornings on the water.....also really enjoy the water's going to bed at night after all the commotion of the day. Is there a bad time on the water....yes.....Holidays....sometimes these days and the way people act tend to have me thinking not so good thoughts about my fellow man but......is what it is.
  22. Really curious about this and am looking for some input. How long do you think/or know you can keep these lines on a shelf or in a boat with out them breaking down and maybe getting brittle? Or even loosing their original strength. Thank you
