  1. I come from a land of good size rivers for smallies (Willamette and Columbia) It was amazing to say the least....amazing. Also was learning the rivers before the popularity of mapping so was using houses and tree's for my GPS coordinates. A few years before I moved to Tennessee I fished a state BASS tourney on the upper Columbia and so wanted to win that tourney with smallmouth as I loved the river and felt it needed to be won with smallmouth and not the largemouth of the sloughs. (silly I know) But I won the three day tourney by one ounce I believe.....was fortunate. Those rivers changed a lot....with flooding and people in some areas .... so I feel and felt your pain. Enjoy your adventure on the lakes....it's all good.
  2. Wow...sad situation for sure. But if we all turn a blind eye to things like this where would this world be. You got some good input above...follow your heart. You asked for input.
  3. I have a plano 3700 box that lays flat accross the top of other planos in my first storage compartment of my boat. This plano gets all weights...hooks....lures...that are used or in the case of some jigs or cranks will be used that day. These baits don't ever go back with originals unless it's a hard bait. Once in awhile I will go through and cull the questionable ones. Usually baits that have air dried on the cooler (first step) at end of day end up in here. (works for me)
  4. Still remember like yesterday when I had an infected molar. But I had to be on a plane in two days for a family funeral. Long story short......couldn't take meds as time was too short to get rid of infection. The shots they give you for pain did not work due to the infection neutralizing the shots. Nurse was sweating bullets...doc sweating bullets....I too was sweating bullets along with many other feelings!!! What a memory...having a tooth pulled and hearing all the noises and getting all those feelings. Hopefully never again...... Good luck to ya Yup.....this is what I did too......had a cute nurse too so I tried to be tough!!!
  5. Had a couple cool evenings this week...but guess there gone for now....sadness!!!! Can't wait....favorite time of year.
  6. Well done and what a ride.....am hoping so much to have that kind of ride up at Cumberland. Feel like I have a chance.
  7. I'm new to the KASTKING but I'm liking them. So smooth. But I am sending the Assassin back as the thumb bar doesn't always engage. The lady I talked with at customer service was very good.
  8. Yes ... I believe it is Osprey Point. Also have a ramp and it used to be a little quieter. Have a great trip. Used to love fishing a grape slider on a 1/16 ounce head around docks.
  9. Love...Love....Love the fall....can hardly wait. On lake Cumberland this last weekend there was one day where while my son and I were running we looked at each other and went .....ohhhhhhh...there's a little nip in the air here.
  10. My son went with me to Lake Cumberland for a three day pre-fish trip for the TBF semi finals. First I would like to say this is a BIG body of water.....52 miles long. Reminded me of Powell and the Columbia for sure. Fishing was tough as they said it would be but had some great help from a couple of locals while on the water and did manage to catch a few. We fished upper...middle...and lower and the lower was by far the best for numbers. Caught a ton of spots and it was a giggle fest at times.
  11. Sweet
  12. It's not fun to play mind games while out on the water or getting ready to. My opinion....unless he is broke my time would be less and less with said person. I have a good friend I fish with and it's kind of funny...if one of us should get on a good bite with something and the other one says OH....I should put that on we'll complain and tell one another not to as it usually turns off the bite!!
  13. Back in Oregon on the Columbia River when the crank bite was good ... you would get several fish follow the hooked fish back to the boat. If you let the smallie swim around under the boat for a bit quit a few times another would grab on....was cool.
  14. It wasn't a win but we finally.....finally put a limit in the boat last night. (my son and myself) (second place....missed first by .25). Oh my gosh has it been tough for us. Thursday nighters haven't been too bad but Tuesdays.....wow. Ever since he had that one over ten this spring he has struggled soooooo bad. Was good to see him catch them last night. We sure do better when we can both get em....(duh) So....hope the trend is going to keep us moving up.
  15. Even on the big water's there's places where one can just smell the roses you might say. Love the peacefulness of first or last light.
  16. Agree
  17. Surprised no one has answered this. I haven't lived in Oregon for bout ten years but I preferred staying in the campground by the mouth of the creek between the lakes. They used to have trailers for rent and may still. Also had a small restaurant there too. Good Luck Sorry ... can't remember the name...shouldn't be hard to find though.
  18. Last night we had our Thursday nighter on a local lake and participation is down due to just plain tough fishing. For me....any excuse to go fishing and enjoy the peace and quiet is time well spent. Last night it rained and rained then it quit and it was ever so pretty. Anyway...I had a couple thoughts going ... and they both worked.....AMAZING huh. As some of you know I was trying out one of the new Kast King levelwinds (Demon) It worked sweetly....only thing I'm not used to is the high gear ration...things feel really different....this is new to me. But on the ol pitchin stick with a homemade jig we got big fish for the night. At a little over three pounds it wasn't big but this time of year on this little lake one over three usually will get you big fish money. Needed two others to fill the limit and I got real brave and threw the Ned for the other two keeps. I'm trying to not set the hook on the Ned....just kind of come into them (this is hard for me) But was able to do this and it worked. Anyway....thanks for listening
  19. When I did a lot of bank fishing I used spinning. Better distance in tighter places. If bass weren't biting I could throw small stuff for other species. Used braid with leader most of the time....and if not straight braid could be used in weeks and light braid cuts through weeds nicely. Do like a little longer rod....at least a seven foot. With spinning and you decide to wade a creek ...small grubs or tubes with a light head do well on this outfit. For a reel I like the 1300 Daiwa SS. Ten pound braid.
  20. Wasn't it call doodling....and I believe bait was used a lot.
  21. Funny....but must be getting cold up north already.
  22. Wow.............at least it wasn't noon to two!!
