  1. A number of years ago and many years working out west in sporting goods stores I had heard from a large reel/rod manufacturer that left handed casting reels were more of a west coast thing for some reason. Thus the slowness over the years to get more and more left handed crankin reels. Now we have a pretty darn good selection. Personally I like casting with my right and just keeping it there and using my left for reeling. Both spin and crank. Took awhile but never could figure out why do I need to change hands when I'm right handed. I mean I don't pick up a sandwhich with my right and eat with my left! Tight Lines
  2. I personally prefer ten and 15 but it's all personal choice. I like the distance I achieve with the smaller lures with the ten in more open water. The fifteen will hold twelve pound leaders which is my max for the most part for spinning. Love the 20 on my cranking and swimbait rods with a leader. P.S. By the way this mostly Power Pro
  3. The most important thing ever left was like was said above....BAGGAGE. Don't like to be knotted up as they say when fishing. I go for the hookset and the catching of fish and enjoying the new pictures of the day around me. Definitly a gift from above. You can tell when you go sometimes and nothing ... nothing goes right and it may start with leaving something at home. But your all tensed up and cast's go into trees both under and above the water. Reels backlash beyond reason, bee's and bugs won't leave ya be and the list goes on. Not to mention thinking of all the KRAP you shudda left at home. Tight Lines
  4. On a monday nite wildcat couple weeks ago caught a 25# drum (had to be...was huge) on a swimbait. Sure are strong.
  5. A number of years ago when I had a tourney on Lake Orville, California where BASS put pro on pro I remember having a 150 tubes called old ugly. In ten days between Orville and Shasta I went through all the tubes. It was spring time and my fingers were soooo sore. Couldn't even pick my nose with right hand or land a fish with that hand it was so tore up. Left was getting bad too by time I left. Those ol spots have teeth!!
  6. I like using a light braid with leader. May be a bit tougher to tie leader but my spool is always full and line doesn't break in middle on long cast with snag. Good hooksets too.
  7. Power Pro....works for me an lasts forever
  8. In the cup container on deck of my Triton just in front of windshield I have a bottle of biodegradable soap that I use when hands get sticky or after applying sunscree. Wether it helps fish bite or not I don't like wiping greasy hands on pants or having greasy rod grips.
  9. Was just curious as I bought some of the hollow body strike king and the action is great but after one bite (even with glue) they hang off hook. Do you all insert the weight in head of body or use hook with bigger collar. Thank you for input
  10. I remember many many years ago we used to use newts and a coastal lake in Oregon. It was my first bass trip with my Dad and I cast in the tules and my newt hung about a foot above the water just wiggling. Two pound bass jumped outa water and ate it!! Was awesome
  11. You would love the Columbia out west....yes you would
  12. Awesome....I know your enjoying this day. Like it says in the Big Book....don't worry about tommorrow....today has enough troubles of it's own. Here's hoping to a speedy healing and many tight lines
  13. It's a nice high HUH. Congrats
  14. Actually have several and never in the same order....Bass Resource usually is right in there along with a couple others. Have to check weather but that doesn't count!!
  15. All I can say you better find some very flexible fishing buddies. Too many cancels and you may be looking again. Just sayin
  16. Silver Thread...also good bang for buck.
  17. I too like double uni....braid is usually the smaller of the two lines. For me I tie five wraps on braid side and four on fluro side. You can tell pretty quick if leader is to small or big as knots don't seem to hold well when tested. Make sure you get knots wet too. Good Luck
  18. Gotta be charcoal...only takes bout 10 or 15 to get the coals going in a stove pipe, chimny or whatever they call that thing with the paper in the bottom and natural un petroleum flavored briquets in top. As far as food...it's all good
  19. I just recently went to BP and bought some of their worm hooks in 2/0 and 3/0. I was amazed by the price. Anybody have any idea who supplys them. They seem fairly sharp and strong. Going to give them a try....figured I saved fourty bucks on these two 25 packs. Will be interesting. Tight Lines
  20. Not sure of cost but it was given to me as a gift and has been used hard. That is a Shimano Stella. Amazing reel
  21. You will never please everyone. Some people have a very narrow vision of what should be swimming in "their" waters. Good thing we have a commission that stocks fish or no one would have much. Throwing a game fish up on the bank.....believe its against the law. Go to Oregon....if it's not a salmon, trout, or steelhead it doesn't belong in the water for the most part!!! Tight Lines
  22. Personally I try not to put the sunscreen above the eyes as I wear my hat low. Number two I never rub eyes outside. Two many things like dirt, pollen etc can be on hands and irritate eyes. Tight Lines
