  1. That makes sense. Sometimes it’s leaked probably not supposed to be. Maybe next week it’ll get posted. I usually get a flyer in mail.
  2. Hello all, I’ve notice the BPS spring fishing classic 2022 starts in March and was wondering if anyone has a leak to the sale AD so I can start writing up my wishlist lol ? ***Bait Monkey ? is telling me too*** Trust me my money will be spent well on wishlist!
  3. Hello Crash, In Illinois I use tubes in almost every conditions such as early spring, summer, and fall. The tube I found to be the best overall is a Strike King Flip-N-Tube 4 1/2" I use the Black Feck or a Pumpkin Seed. I also Texas rig it. I think the longer body of the tube the bass hold onto longer. Also the scent strike king has infused into it really makes the bass hold on longer. When no other lure is working the tube has caught me fish. Try the Strike King Flip-N-Tube. Ive tried many different tubes but the length and the scent on the Strike King Flip-N-Tube I've caught 5 to 1 Bass over other Tubes.
  4. If you aren't using blue as @Bluebasser86 would say you arent using your whole arsenal. We have power lakes by me especially Lasalle Lake. The bass range from hybrid stripers, white bass, smallmouth, and largemouth bass. I use religiously black and chrome or blue and chrome Rat-L-trap 1/2 ounce. Ive caught monster largemouth out there and had a hybrid stripers pull almost all my line out. It surfaced and when I went to turn it around it shook the blue and chrome Rat-L-trap out of its mouth. I even had smallmouth hammer the blue and chrome color. Its very effective color as the blue can mimic certain minnows.
  5. Personally I like all Gamatasku Hooks. I would say out of them all the EWG hooks are my favorite but I’ve used the G lock ones and still caught fish. To me it’s the operator who misses fish not the hook. I can tie on an eagle claw and still hook set a fish. It’s really the operator.
  6. To me… yes the way better rods you can feel everything… it’s amazing but in all fairness I can pick up a cheapie rod and reel and catch fish on it. If I was a low budget my tackle would be my priority but since I’m not both are my priorities lol ? my wife hates it. Both are very important.
  7. My largest bass of 2021 was a 4 lb 20 inch bass on a Z-Man Chatterbait with a Gary Yamamoto Zako on May 22nd. The lure would hit the water and they would hit hard caught 20 bass that day and got two 33 inch Muskies. Fun day.
  8. Oh ok I know there a knock off just wondering if there any good. I love the live Magic Shad but still my heart sided with zako.
  9. I got a summer angler book in mail. Was browsing around and seen these Bass Pro Super Shads (image below). I’ve used the Gary Yamamoto Zako Swimbait. It’s my favorite swimbait BTW. My question is has anyone used the Bass Pro Super Shads!? Are they good. Thinking of getting some.
  10. Yes I got it. Sadly I had to pay the price. Hopefully the law gets passed. It’s not right. I had no choice but to get a trailer. I love my trailer. It’s perfect for two kayaks. I got the Right on Tuff Sport trailer. Well made and nice.
  11. Berkley Power Worm Ribbon tail. It has been my bread and butter. It’s worked every time. If something works why change it!? Haven’t tried much anything else always going back for a power worm.
  12. I like it with and without. Depends on conditions. The clacker makes it much “louder.” I think it makes more strikes. The key to any buzzbait is to fish it as slow as possible on top of water. Like many have said adding a trailer will improve the “slowness.”
  13. Thanks for the input. Definitely helped my decision. I will buy them sounds like you don’t always use them but they’re there when you need them. I like how they could be effective in situations.
  14. LaSalle county. We have individual lakes but there closed as well. It’s bad here. Im going to a private lake with my buddy today hopefully I catch them.
  15. Maybe up there.. Down here all state parks and parks are closed. Heck at the Hennepin Canal the CPO gave a few guys $200 fishing fines. It says in my Illinois outdoor news that all public fishing regulated by state closed. Your lucky if you get to fish. Lake Bloomington is kind of private. It’s controlled by city and you pay a membership sticker each year.
  16. Thanks for input. Sounds like it’s something I should be getting. Just weird they put rails up by feet spot. They’re not moveable. There permanent.
  17. Haven’t yet. We have a stay at home order. All parks are closed. Nowhere to fish unless private. Sucks. Soon I’ll be able to test. I sat in it in yard and it’s roomy and comfortable.
  18. I bought a Brooklyn Kayak 11.5 Kayak over winter on sale. I got it for $599. The price was hard to beat. It came with rudder, seat, and paddle. Has the same stuff as ones priced around 1K. By saving money it helped me get my kayak trailer and get accessories for my kayak. The huge factors were price and what it had to offer. For it being so cheap and having the same amount of stuff was a no brainer. I can also stand on it as I plan to. It’s got tons of storage and rod holders built on kayak. Overall I’m happy. I know there’s a video out of a kayak company that list the top 10 of 2020 and of 2019. It’s very good video on YouTube that will help you decide your kayak. Helped me understand a lot. Good Luck!
  19. I’ve been thinking buying a Yakattack paddle Holder would be essential for my kayak. My Kayak is a BKC and has tracks near feet/front of kayak on both sides 6’. Where do you put your Yak attack paddle holders!? Do I need tracks closer to my seat for it? Also noticed on Austin Kayak they have Yakattack track mount paddle holder. Amazon has Yakattack rotogrip mount holder. Are there any difference between the two or is the same? Thanks for your help!
  20. St Croix lower end rods around $100-180 feel “tip heavy” as many have said. I do agree think it’s because of how light the rod is in other parts. All my St. Croix rods are super light. Now my Legend Xtreme is light and very sensitive. I can hold my Legend Xtreme ALL day with no tiredness. It’s so sensitive you can distinguish all obstacles on bottom to a fish bite. I would agree the Legend Xtreme can give any rod a run for its money. Lower end rods are light and great. I don’t know much about Dobyns but I hear great things. I think each rods from each company work well for different applications. Both to me are great rod companies.
  21. I would love my hands on a “high end” Daiwa reel or another high end Abu Garcia reel. If it came down to be my last reel. Love my Revo MGX wouldn’t mind buying another one similar. Right now though I’m content with what I have. Don’t need anything this year lol.
  22. War Eagle Spinnerbaits and nothing else. I’ve tried several brands... Booyah, Terminator, Walmart generic 97 cent ones. War Eagle is the best made and runs the best. The Walmart get my 2nd vote cheap and effective.
  23. I always liked cork handles and I’ve haven’t had any issues. I’ve used non cork handles and cork handles. I Don’t prefer one over other. Most of my rods have cork handles.
  24. Several years ago I bought a Abu Garcia Revo MGX it weighs only 5 oz. Super-lightweight one-piece X-Mag alloy frame Nine stainless steel HPCR bearings and one roller bearing for corrosion resistance Carbon Matrix drag system delivers smooth, consistent drag pressure Infinitely Variable Centrifugal Brake for precise brake adjustments Lube port for easy maintenance Abu Garcia is another great reel. Like everyone said your going to have to pay. I spent $300 back several years ago and today it’s been my best investment. The reel works as if it’s new because I keep it maintained. I found lower end Revo baitcaster that was originally $445 and on sale for $218 on Walmart’s website. Prob from a 3rd party but very cheap. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Abu-Garcia-Revo-MGX-Low-Profile-Baitcast-Fishing-Reel/183456288?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=16783&adid=22222222228054343656&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=155012196377&wl4=aud-393207457166:pla-289410007674&wl5=9021974&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=133916802&wl11=online&wl12=183456288&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjcfzBRCHARIsAO-1_OqsoZF3-KVngddIxxwoYhvRJaat6Yxw9tPKEjJOpz28J7Xde0XT3F4aAgkNEALw_wcB
  25. Another thing not mentioned that plays huge in bait casting making sure your knobs on the side of reel balance the lure. If not it’ll backlash every time. You want it to hit floor smoothly. Too fast will cause backlashes. It takes practice but once you get this step down it’s all downhill from here.
