  1. jhoffman, yes I plan on melting baits. I have done this in the past and they work fine, and catch bass just like new ones.
  2. Most guys throw away their soft plastic baits after a day of fishing. Or they trash the ones they got but never use. Does anyone know where I can get used, or unwanted plastic baits of any size, shape or color?
  3. check out, Caney Creek Molds, they have the best of everything for that, even stater kits.
  4. If you want to do it cheap you can make your own molds and remelt your old or unused plastics. I started that way. Go on youtube and type in making worm molds, plaster of paris. You can remelt old plastic in a microwave but dont over do it, cause in can burn. Or you can buy a electric flat top burner from walmart, aluminum small pots and melt your plastic that way. The best is to do this in an area with plenty of ventilation and I always wear a paper painters mask for the fumes.
  5. Plaster of Paris molds must set for about a day only to cure. Once cured you must paint the bait area with Apoxy, let that cure for one day and your ready to pour your plastic in them. If you do not use Apoxy in the bait formed area when you pour the plastic in the mold they come out with a dull finish, if you Apoxy it they come out glossy just like you buy in the store. I have 17 molds I have made myself by following instructions on youtube. I store them in my garage uncovered and I have no problem with mold or mildew getting on them.
