  1. What does everyone throw on it? I know jigs and t-rigs, spinnerbaits, chatter baits. Anything else? Anyone thrown 3” to 4” Keitechs on it?
  2. Great thanks! Thanks fellas. Found one. Looking forward to getting it.
  3. Great, thanks. Are there any dealers we can order from online that sell below the MSRP of $650 on the NRX+ rods? There used to be, just wanted to check and see.
  4. I want it for 3/8 and 1/2 oz football jigs and apparently they are all the rage for that application over at TB. I also like the idea of the soft tip and solid backbone halfway down the rod. I have an old Smallmouth Guru rod from All Pro that fishes like that in a medium. Wondering if anyone has fished both and can say yay or nay to that comparison? I know the NRX is going to be much more sensitive as I have an NRX+ 852s, so I know what I’m getting there, but I’ve never fished the MBR action. I’d mainly use for football jigs, but also would like to do 3/8 heads with keitechs as well on it. Is this possible or are they too stiff to throw the keitechs? Should I be looking at the 843C MBR? I have the 894C JWR in the GLX and I know that’s way stouter than what I’m looking for here.
  5. You simply cannot crank on 6.3 or higher and do what I’m doing. It’s too tiring to do for 8 hours. None of us care about sudden death/drag/drifting. It doesn’t come into play for what I’m doing. Not even bass fishing here bud. You have no idea what I’m doing, therefore have no idea what i need or what matters relating to the technique. Thanks, yeah checking those out as well.
  6. Not for what I’m doing. Not using any of those baits for this. It’s strictly for deep cranking. It’s of zero concern for what I’m going to use it for.
  7. I’m cranking a deep running cb (14-16 feet) for 8 hours straight so a 6.3 will wear you the heck out. Even worse the faster you get. The rule of thumb for what I’m doing is the slower the better. Slack control is of no concern, nothing about what I’m doing calls for speed. Speed kills your chances in this case. I currently use 4.7:1 pro qualifiers and a 5.1 older Orro Winch. Just have a couple that need replacing. I may just pull the trigger on a gen 5 revo winch. Thanks all.
  8. Which model? Found a Tatula, are they smooth? Looked at Bantam MGL 6.3 was slowest they had. I need slow, power, and very smooth with good casting and braking. That just doesn’t make sense to me. Did everyone stop deep cranking?
  9. I’ve looked at Okuma, Shimano, Lews, etc. Couldn’t find any in Okuma, Lews has the cheap LFS and found 1 Shimano in 200k that have it. What changed that caused them to stop making the 5 power gear reels?
  10. I need new units. I have 5 year old HDS units, one doesnt work any longer. I'm familiar so for down imaging and side imaging, HDS Live is what I'm looking at, but I really want a unit that does the front facing sonar and keep hearing that Garmin Livescope is the way to go for that. Looking for suggestions on setup based on experiences with Livescope vs ActiveTarget. Not opposed to the Hummingbird either. Also, can the new HDS Live units utilize the shoot thru hull transducer for the 2D sonar that I have been using with my HDS Gen 3 or will I need a new one installed in hull?
  11. How often do they break? Didnt realize that was an issue with these.
  12. I've been contemplating this rod for neds, senkos, small swimbaits, shakeyheads. If its rated at such light weights how does it have trouble getting good casting distance? Is the parabolic bend that much less than that of the 872s? Also, is there an online shop/dealer somewhere that anyone can recommend that I can get a better price on an NRX than Tackle Warehouse?
  13. Looking for deep crank rod. New 7'6" zodias glass rod or 7'11' kvd tour? What do you use? Prefer 1 rod that can handle all 3 fishing ledges.
  14. For casting lighter lures like shad rap #7's or lighter jerk baits which do you prefer? I have the curado 70 so I'm familiar with it, but have not tried a diawa reel in a long time and never one of their bait casters.
  15. I don't think I've ever seen Shimano go on sale before they close their stuff out to make new stuff. Wish I could find one 25% off!!! Thanks to all for the input. GLX it is. Wouldn't you know it, now that I made my mind up, Tackle Warehouse is out of stock on the 894.
