Dyerbassman - you were right about tinboats.net. Spent the night reading and looking. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know what I come up with.

I have a 14' jon boat and am thinking about doing a conversion on it like I've seen on YouTube where plywood and 2x4 are used. I realize this makes it heavier so would that stabilize the boat so that it doesn't rock so much? Also, right now I have an electric motor so would the added weight be too much for an electric motor? I have also considered using PVC pipe on the sides to stabilize it. Your input would be appreciated since this is my first boat.

I just got my first jon boat and I've been reading up on making modifications. I found an article where it talks about using sterofoam of some kind. If your boat ever tips over it would go straight to the bottom with all the plywood in it unless you have sterofoam in it to keep it afloat. Anybody ever hear of anything like this?

Four more days and it's all over. I usually go to the coast to fish but since I'm going to be able to go fishing more regular I thought I would get into some freshwater fishing so I don't have to go so far whenever I get the itch. Looking forward to learning many things here.
