  1. Been thinking about doing my first competition fishing the next kotg. Any tips for a first timer as far as sign up, time of arrival, ect ect. I don't know how it works with weigh ins, or order of dropping boats in the water, leaving, coming back.. pretty much nothing about tournaments lol. I like this one because its all near by, and don't have to be a member of a particular club.
  2. I agree on the tape. You cant compare length with the two either. I just seen post pics of what has been gotten, and seen mention of snakeheads also, so I posted.
  3. got this one tonight,... No good bass yet. Got this one yesterday that was ok, but a day early and prob not quite a winner....
  4. I think theyre spawning right now too.
  5. YES thank you lol
  6. I have a 10` tracker for small waters. Its perfect for one person, and can handle 2, sorta tippy. 3 is pushing it. My girlfriend and her 4 year old have gone out ok, but its a pain. If your mostly goin yourself, and want a smaller motor, 10-12, but If you plan on mostly 2-3 people, definatly 12-14. Upshot with the 10 is I can load it into the truck bed myself with the battery and outboard off, throw them in after and take it if I cant use a trailer. Ive got a 3.5hp on it which is fine w just me, but kind of a turd with 375lbs in it. I like the flat john better, but either on of those look decent. You can always offer a little less too and see what happens. Make sure you get a title, and make sure its in the sellers name, and not just signed to them. that's been an issue for me before.
  7. Hes already been warned to stay off. Had I not posted the sign there, Id probably have him. The cops were supposed to issue a trespass warrant, but I don't think they did. If I were at home, Id messed him up pretty bad. The camera runs all day, this video was a recording I made on my phone of the video on my computer moving in and out and making it fuzzy. He will get his once Im gone, but I live right next door and hes home all day and knows my schedule and don't want any more problems with our property. Were moving out, and my boat is at my neigbors who also has had issues with the guy. Pretty crappy.
  8. take a compression gauge with ya. the place I got mine from had it in the water ready for a test ride, and allowed me to check compression, and go over everything. I found a few things including a 2nd fish finder in the add that was missing that allowed us to go down in price $500, which is funny because I found the other finder a month later inside wrapped up in a towel lol. Ive never had anything other than a tiller drive john, so I asked the guy to show me how to load it, drive it, tilt, bilge, troll ect ect. Some used sellers will run the motor before you come, heat it up so it sounds like it starts right up when you get there. Check to see if its at all warmed up. Other than that, theres not much to it. Get a manual that matches you motor for tune ups. Make sure oil injection alarms working if it has one, ect. Check local laws on what you need onboard such as lights, flares, horns.... Some fuel treatment and stabilizer doesn't hurt. I like the tracker boats too. I was set on getting one, but found the deal on my nitro (still tracker anyways) I think theyre nice for what they cost. I think when I was looking anything 160-175 decent was running around 5-9k used.
  9. I caught a smaller one.. maybe 1.5-2lbs about a week ago on a t rigged 10" pumpkin/pearl ribbontail worm. Looked like a bass mated with a snakehead. Cool fish!
  10. was totally not expection this thread to be about a lawnmower lol. d**n, I just tossed a decent one a few months ago that had a broken push bar that could have been repaired, but I had another newer one.
  11. Ive only had one day where they were killin it. Overcast in murkey water. 5" pearl senkos every or every other cast. Most of them were around a pound, nothing over 2. made a few vids with the phone because I couldn't believe it. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=544091352268251&set=vb.100000021730528&type=3&theater probably pulled around 50-60 in a few hours.
  12. I wasn't home. I run that camera all day when we aren't home. He doesn't work, and knows our schedule. Its on a gopro, but I recorded the video on my phone to just get a small clip. That's why its so fuzzy too. yea that's what I said to the cop.
  13. oh point... he lives in Margate, which leads into many canals and eventually the C-14. watch your stuff!!
  14. a few weeks ago I came home from work and went fishing. Took the cover off the boat, loaded up some light gear and went down my canal. Found a spot, dropped the trolling motor... no power. Dammit! I just fixed everything! Looking, looking, ah ha.. one of my trolling batteries was stolen! That's weird, it was all undone nice and neat, and my boat cover was on when I left. What thieve boats up not knowing whos home, and takes their time to do all that. A week goes by, mother in law want to go for a ride, I go the other way, and who has a new to them pos boat hidden... guy next door, and hack landlord! A guy home all day who knows our schedule, and is a terrorist! Telling a friend down the street, she tells us their outboard was stolen from the back yard. All these people have no problems after years and all of the sudden! We made a police report about his harassment, but had no evidence to support our accusations, and of course right away his boat was gone "for maintenance" Since that day, Ive recorded all day everyday all of my property, and sure as #^$& today he tried again, but discovered locks, and the note I left about kicking the *^%*%(*^&$##& out of him next time. I took this to the police right away. They came over and questioned him. The landlord wanna be told them we were moving soon and he wanted to be sure the landscaping was ok AFTER ALREADY BEING TOLD TO STAY OFF OUR PROPERTY. Really?!? $They didn't do anything. Nothing was taken this time because I had locks on it.
  15. foozeball is the devil! +1 on rugby!!
  16. I use it on some of my baitcasters. yea, it has some memory, but I don't backlash it often, and its fairly strong. Not the best, but def decent for the dollar.
  17. Yea, last week I only seen one bed with a couple small bass on it, everything else has been left. Few talapia bedding still here n there. Went on shore tues n wed and did ok, skunked yesterday. Might take the 10' out saturday morning by my place and boat out to loxahatchee sunday... Or the opposite. Think spawn is pretty much over with down here. Back to extreme heat and rain. Id like to hit the O, but dont have any experience up there yet. Might go try it the next weekend.
  18. On some motors its motor brushes, and some the control board. I had the same problem with mine, and went out to start pulling the motor off as I was just going to get a new one instead of fixing it, and reallized it was a worn arced up plug and the wires were all nasty and pited up into the receptical, so i stripped the wired to fresh copper and installed a new receptical and plug and it works fine now. Check your breaker connections, spices, plugs, ect before ordering parts.
  19. I dont usually ask, I just ask people if theyve had any luck in the area, and if people ask what Ive been catching on, I tell em. Ive even crossed paths with other boaters who have thrown me a worm and say "try this like this". Most of the places I go on my little boat are places you dont run into other people anyways. Who cares anyways, there are hardly any baits that are a secret. If you dont know how to use em or what youre doing, youre going to yeild less fish anyways.
  20. I use the weather to dictate fishing. If theres a hurricane or its near freezing I don't go, if not I go lol.
  21. Ive only used zoom because they come in the colors I like, but they don't last through much. And the bigger size. Havent tried any others for a good opinion though, but these work.
  22. pull it against another scale and see if they read the same.
  23. wonder what line he was using to get that sucker in. Ive gotten a few big ones, but still a few pounds off 14! heres another recent... Ive seen some bigger in ones of the isolated lakes I fish in a lot, but haven't gotten "the one". I was reeling in my line to recast one day and had one chase my worm up to the surface that was surly double digits, but it missed and no luck on the re try`s. I live off a canal system that runs off the C-14, and have noticed a huge drop in snakehead activity here in the last year too.
  24. Im shocked to see more people don't use the bullets weights with the grip coil (florida style I think) I use those all the time in 3/16- 1/4oz and peg larger.
  25. I actually just caught a smaller one all the way up in lake osborne 2 weeks ago. Was really suprized. As said above, plus they like live shiners from what Ive heard... about 3", and Ive gotten them on square bills and spinners too.
