  1. Been goin out here and there, but just been getting 15-18" fish. Im at around 90" with 5, but that's not good enough to put anything up.
  2. When size doesn't matter I go to.... Wait that's a trick question. Size always matters!
  3. nice snook, snook!
  4. When I lose a fish I come down with a bad case of profane torrets, or throw a senko in on another pole where it missed, or both.
  5. white/white red overcast, chrome/black or blue sunny, black in low light, or low vis water.
  6. the farthest North Ive gotten one, was in Lake Osbourne in the Lake Worth area, and was really shocked to get it that far up. Really Southern Broward County and down are the real go to place if your looking for them specifically, but you can find them in patches here and there between down there and Palm Beach County. I don't know about any farther North than that.
  7. yep. 3 of my 5 fish from last contest came out of that very section.
  8. I live right off that canal. I used to live by the fpl sub station near the corner just west of that pic, now I live right east near 441. Right directly next to that sub staion youll see a house with a massive brand new dock out back. That's my old landlord/neighborhood boat part thieve.
  9. Ive only caught a few, and only once was I fishing for them. This is the biggest on I got rippin a white/chart spinner parallel down a ledge @ just over 4lbs. Then some others...
  10. Know whats crazy, that was the only lightning that hit. There was no other sign. No thunder in the distance or anything. It began to sprinkle, then that one just slammed close by and scared the heck out of us at which point we decided to go in. I don't even recall any more lightning or thunder after that one either. There were worse storms up NE and some South heading toward us, but it didn't look to bad where we were at the time. I was even saying "why is it raining?" "Where is this coming from?" Then BAM!! Ok, lets go! We were right on the opposite side of the main canal from coot bay. AND when we loaded up, the whole parking lot was still full of trailers!! When we found out about 15 min after we left what had happened, my partner and I just looked at each other wide eyed and said "it was that one!!" I still cant believe it! Just... unreal!
  11. All I got were these. There was a tournament out of Clewiston yesterday. South bay probably would have been a better idea. Then rain in the early afternoon. 21" and 18" . Got a couple maybe up to 15" but figured Id beat em.
  12. Yea we were right by there when it happened. The strike was so close it scared us into going in where shortly after we seen the ambulance coming and heard about the fwc leaving the tiki bar for the call. Didn't know lightning hit anyone till we got in there we heard a couple talking to the bartender about it. RIP brother.
  13. Aye bro, seen your lone truck over there this am. Idk how far it was. We only seen and heard it as it was the only one that stuck out to use. We were right on the opposite side of the main entrance exit canal, heard it and said "that's our cue to go". We came around and it started sprinkling heavy and decided to try flippin a couple spots before the gate, then It began pouring, so we headed in. Coming down the canal to the ramp we seen a police car flying up the levy and figured someone got hurt somehow or did something stupid, then when pulling the boat out seen the ambulance. We shot over to the tiki when we heard about the fwc officer that hauled ouda there because someone got hit by lighting, and me and my buddy looked at each other like "d**n!!! it was that strike"!!! Sadly we heard that a couple on the other side of the bar had the bad news, he didn't make it. Wont be stickin around for anymore storms there anymore!! Man.. just terrible! I cant imagine how the other guy(s) in the boat felt either.
  14. Man, today some guy got hit by lightning on his boat out there by us!
  15. That's a good idea. If we got enough people in on this, someone could end up with a nice little supply. Lou, Id join ya over that way, but we made plans to make the long haul to Okeechobee again tomorrow. Really hoping to hit some of those 7-10 pounders I keep seeing people get up there.
  16. Ive caught all mine on chart/black, chart/white cranks and spinners. spring and sunny colors would probably work well too. Burn em!
  17. wolf park has a lot of peacock bass in it not to far from there
  18. Some freaks! Nice Shane! Hope I have some catches like that there tomorrow. Still havent decided to head out from belle or clewiston yet. Havent yet tried out of belle glade and east yet.
  19. Id like it if we could all bow down with a moment of silence please, thank you. Lol. J/k. Cool. Lets see whats happens this month. Maybe more competition too.
  20. look inside WM property on the corner of wiles and powerline, there is a small lake in there getting filled in with crush concrete, tile, ect. I can tell everyone because its private property Martin, its the one I showed you on the way out from the one in the rear. The snakeheads aren't as big as in the back, but they are ALL OVER in there.
  21. aye, salf and fresh... fishing is great down here! welcome!
  22. These studies were also taken where mass quantities of this fish are killed, as its a popular canal for the snakehead. There are tournaments held by several different groups, on top of regular fishermen picking them off. I think as long as theyre under conrol like that, there wouldnt be such an impact, but I think if they were left alone, other fish species would drop off. There is a lake inside of a jobsite I work at in pompano thats being filled in. Its not connected to any other bodies of water in the area. It used to be full of talapia, bass, bluegill, ect. Now that 50% of the lake is full, I havent seen any other fish species other than piles of snakehead and some gar, nor have I caught anything other than snakeheads. I didnt see bluegill or anything. I figured all the fish would be smooshed in tight and fishing would be great. They simply arent there anymore. As far as peacock bass go, they were introduced intentionally to aid in lowering the amount of invasive species. I like catching snakeheads and know they arent going anywhere, but do think they need to be kept under control if possible. Most of the time if I catch one, I kill it and eat it, but i dont just kill them for the hell of it. Peacock bass may have helped in keeping their population down alsoin in the C-14 system, but I think most of them diminished a few years ago from cold weather. Thats my .02
  23. Because senkos sometime take a bit of waiting, Ill always be looking around for fish or places to throw my next cast, not watching my line as it sits. Ill reel the slack and palm my reel and put my index finger under the line. You can feel it go slack, tighten, or thud. Palming it puts less leverage and grip on the rod to keep it "loose" so if my line begins to walk away, my rod will turn in my palm. I like using flouro too, and you get much more feedback to you hands.
  24. Very nice! I went out there for my first time this weekend and did ok. The water was more dirty than I was expecting. Went in from RMM in Clewiston. It was also my first time using swim jigs. Was burning em up and getting lotsa hits, but mostly around 1.5lb fish. Non the less, it was a good first visit. Wish I had some better darker baits and gotten there a little earlier. Think next time we might try out of Belle Glade. Bugs were great too w no repellent lol. Whats up with the mouths of all the bass in there? I noticed theyre all full of sores and some had like little parasites or really small leaches or something in them. Seen some deep in Loxahatchee like that before, but all of them up there had em.
  25. I like using this top water spinner. Has props on the front and back and makes a bunch of noise. Not a good fish in this pic, but the only one I have with the lure...
