  1. The first ones a few weeks ago were standard gary yamamoto, but yesterday it was the elastic like stretchy strike king senkos. I thought it was weird tho cos I have more than one color of the same kind right next to them and they were fine. I did have em in the back of my truck, but they were in the box out of direct sun. Almost seems like some clear substance leaked out. In both cases it where the head tips that melted together.
  2. a few weeks ago I opened one of my organizers in the box and had a clump of senkos melted together, but none of the other baits in there where affected, so I figure it was an off batch or something and they got to much heat or something, then this afternoon I went into and organizer to get one out and they were melted together and none of the others. The first ones were gary yamamoto, but the second ones were strike king today so not even the same brand. The whole organizer is senko style worms and none of the others were affected, and even the same ones that were in the gy batch that were still good were in there and fine. I dont get it. Anyone else get this?
  3. Full moon nights or even the day or 2 before and after are not only good beacuse of the lunar effect itself, but during peak hours when its up overhead and its clear out it lights up out, you can see and my favorite it on top water with the light, the fish can see the lure on top shadowing the light. Which triggers more strikes. More accurate strikes at that.
  4. Full or nearly full moon nights with black frogs or large poppers. Ive caught some bank fish too with light t rigged worms and even senkos. Snakeheads down here like the night bite too. Ive tried black jitterbugs too but no luck.
  5. hmm.. I thought full moon/new moon phases where the prime fishing days.
  6. Ive heard good things about that area and want to try that water one day. Prob march or april.
  7. I tried burning spinners this weekend and ended up slowin way down before grabbing one in a kvd bluegill crank, went to change to a better color for clear water broke it on my troller, down to weightless senkos before I got good consistant bites. Slow bites.
  8. I feel bad for you guys. For christmas mine bought me a nice wall rack for mine, and it had a few empty spaces, so she asked when we were going shopping to fill the empty spots. I usually get her one every 3 I get, so she doesnt mind. And pink if possible. That makes it better lol.
  9. I agree with Largemouthgambler. I never used one before, and only had spinners aggges ago when I fished as a kid. I think I seen em in the store and thought it was some stupid priced fancy reel Id never buy. Started researching them when I realized its used alot and a must have for a bass fisherman. I hated it at first because I backlashed it often but after learning to cast it and set it up, I hardly ever touch the spinners. I began fishing about late last summer and have 3 combos already. Sucks because my dad just got me a nice pfluger spinner combo for christmas, and Ive gotten one top water fish on it cos Im always using the casters. I cant stand not having the same control. Gotta worn you though, flukes and senkos can be difficult to cast on it till you get it down.
  10. Ill be hitting a lake or 2 tomorrow in weston in the afternoon then trying to figure out where to comb an entire lake Saturday. I have a sweet spot in pines Imma see if I can get a key to get into if I can. Might be able to take someone with if my buddy bails on me. If not, prob back to a couple weston lakes. there is a small shallow canal I discovered in coral springs holding some fatties I might stop at Friday evening, or Sunday. There is 2 lakes right near it also.
  11. Thats a tough one for me. I guess it would have to be a 5" watermelon/red senko or 10" pumkin green/pearl ribbontail t-rigged. Hard lure would be a wht/chart with a pair of gold and silver willow/indy blades
  12. I started yanking so hard because of the consistent problem with hooksets. Most of them where gone AT the hookset, and a some on the way in. Its as if there wasnt rapid enough tension to pull the hook through the plastic and through the fish before it would spit it out, or pull out of its mouth. At the beging of the day, i just gave my normal pull. I never had this problem with any other mono and esp flouro except bps mono. I didnt have the issue with my other rods with different line that day, and its wasnt just me usimg that line that day having the same problem. I fish 4-5 times a week and never had it even close to this bad lol. Maybe Im retarded, or it was a bad spool, but I think Ill rip the line off a couple, put what I normally use on, and see what happens. Maybe ill make some sort of stretch test.
  13. Ive got one for med/heavy flip n pitch, but havent used it a whole lot yet. It likes alot of brakes compared to my other reels (abus)
  14. I do the same. I found a good one a couple weeks ago sept i got my truck stuck to later be found bu a city worker who informed me i was on county wetland reservation and I should leave. I was allowed to fish there but no motorized vehicles are allowed and its over 10,000 dollar fine! Sometimes they lead to trouble, but there are some sweet spots out there you cant see from the road. Its a good way to find em and how to get there.
  15. No prob man. I dont fish many canals. Majority of canals are the ones all over margate from my backyard to the C-14 canal. Once in a while I take the gf and kids to some lakes and canals, but I like finding pad, ledge, rock filled lakes to throw my lil john boat in. There are a ton of good canals and lakes out in sw sunrise, weston, and pines. As said above to, save the treble hooked goods for on the water. lures work, but senkos, t rigs, and spinners are all I use on shore all weedless is a plus with them too.
  16. Maybe that had something to do with it. It was all spinner, or hopping the bottom t rigged. The spinner reacted a little better, but I had alot less hits with it too, and it was trailer hooked.
  17. Hmm.. maybe. Ill give it that it was strong, tied easy, and has stayed straight so far, but it did seem super stretchy.
  18. Hey, I was just fishing in Weston today! I try to find canals with stuff around,.. docks, piles of rocks, pads, ledges, near a bridge, drain pipes, ect. then I try to find one that isnt standing me 6` above the water so my bait isnt dive bombing the water scaring every fish for half a mile away. I loike to be close to the water, and low so I can present quietly and parallel the bank. try to find the crappiest place to stand so the good spots are all around you not where you are. I like canals that are wide enough fish in the middle or opposing side arent spooked by me, but where I can cast to the other side. Sometimes I like to throw all the way into the grass on the other side, then drag the bait into the water. If theres alot of boat traffic or garbage everywhere I leave. Alot of idiots throw a tidal wake, or fish from these spots and leave 30 broken off lines in the water for you to snag on. Annnnd I look around for THE fish, or lots of bait fish. Some sort of sign theyre around. I think thats all my .02.
  19. Im one of those people that mostly use what I know, but try new things once in a while. I never used it before and heard from a few people stren was good line. At the shop I noted I needed some mono. At first assuming it didnt say flouro or braid it was mono, I grabbed a clear 12lb spool of stren original. got home and seen it didnt say what it was. Guessing by their site its mono, even though it doesnt say it directly. Anyways cut the babble, I wound a few rods with it. A couple spinners and a couple casters. We went out, and I couldnt believe how many fish I lost!!! Bite after bite that day and landed maybe 7. Go to set the hook and it as if yanking the rod back 5 feet was 1/2" at the hook. Almost every hook set was a fail on all these newly lined poles. Replaced hooks, ect ect. Is it just me, or is this line some BS? We were like is it the fish?! I waited on a few like 10 seconds to swim around with it then would yank gone, or off at the shore, off halfway in, off on the hookset, left and right! *(&^%&$^#*()&**( Normally use berkley tri, and floro. Today I even tried it on my 7:1. and I would pull my tip from 2 feet off the water to over my head, and still lost about 50% At the end of the day today I would set hook and reel as fast as I could and run backwards. Insane!
  20. Forgot to add too, aside from all that.. watch out for the ground, long weeds n brush around you, tree branches around or behind you. A few times Ive gone to cast and wacked the ground or side cast and hit a branch behind me and blown up lash so bad I dont even know if any was even touching the spool anymore lol. Sometimes im fixed on a target casting from shore and underhand a smooth cast right into some tall weeds and come down with some serious torrets! Not good!
  21. Ive noticed it help for me anyways on something lighter like 1/4oz or even just a fluke w no weight to set the tensioner a little tighter than stopping at the ground, where i have to shake it a little to get it to drop. With lighter weight, the bait slows down fast where there spool doesnt want to. Ya just have to get the concept of it and learn to adjust it to different weights. Put something somewhat heavy like said above maybe 3/4oz and just practice over n over in the back yard. i found it easier to underhand roll cast it easy instead of whippin it. Makes it easier for my to keep the bait close to the water and blip it in the water slowing the spool instead of splashing it in. Thats one thing i love about baitcaster reels is the presentation and accuracy I can get. I hardly ever use a spinner for freshwater anymore.
  22. Oops nm that was the bps xps mono
  23. I tried it to save some money, but didnt like it. Seems to stretch to much. I could yank my rod so hard a 2lbs fish would fly 50' out across the water trying to set the hook cause any less most would get off lol
  24. Grab em by the bottom jaw or use a net.
  25. heres a good video I found a few months ago searching for bass eating ducks... make sure your volume is up so you hear the strike!
