  1. That's what I thought too while reading the OP. Those guys will make you think you caught a world record.
  2. I've seen that pond on google earth behind home depot, but didn't know how to get to it. It looked like there were thick trees all around it. Also, I've fished those small ponds just south of there near the casino. Didn't have much luck. A few small bass and a large Mayan Cichlid.
  3. I've had some good success out of that pond before. Haven't been there in a few months. Didn't notice any peacocks. That's great news!
  4. had to drive up to orlando for work yesterday, and drove back today. there is a lot of fishy looking water the whole way up and back.
  5. Fished the Sample Rd North entrance lake and caught 2 around 2 lbs. Then tried the North bound exit at the Sawgrass and the water was really, really dirty. Only made a couple casts and moved on. It was very windy. Will definitely try both lakes some other time when the conditions are better.
  6. I live in Parkland, and drive by those all of the time. I always say that I'm going to go and fish them one day, but never do for some reason. I drove by yesterday and thought those lakes would be a great spot to drop a small jon boat it. I might check the Sawgrass and Turnpike exits this afternoon. If I do, I will post a report. If you see a black Ford Escape there today, give me a honk.
  7. I always keep an ultra lite setup with me. I grew up in Southern California, and it is my rainbow trout set up. It's a 5' rod with a small reel, I have 6 lbs test on it, and use it to fish with 4" flukes. It makes it fun on a slow day. I've caught a couple 5-6lbs bass on it, and also some big peacocks. It's great for fishing ponds that don't have a lot of vegetation, but have the steep drop off. Give it a try. Also, I just fished with a buddy and he had one of those counter top rod and reel combos that are about 2 feet long they sell at bass pro for $10. We were live shiner fishing for peacock bass with it. Maybe the most fun I've ever had fishing.
  8. Went out in Coral Springs myself today around 3pm. Saw some good sized bedding bass, but they wouldn't hit. Bounced around to some spots and caught some small guys. Then right before dark caught several decent fish on a zoom frog. Steady retrieve through grass. Yesterday caught 20 peacocks and 7 large mouths (biggest was 22", no scale). Live minnows and x-raps.
  9. I've had good success fishing the lakes in the various business parks throughout Broward. On the weekend, especially on Sundays, there's no one around and plenty of parking with easy access to the water. I just look for the no fishing signs to figure out where the best spots are.
  10. Thanks all
  11. I've been really enjoying the site for a couple months, and wanted to post an intro. I live in Parkland, FL (a little North of Ft. Lauderdale). After growing up fishing, I took a long break from it when I went away to school and then started my career. I'm getting back into it now. I am researching a boat, and plan on getting one early next year. Looking forward to reading all of your great insight and tips, and hopefully contributing a little here and there. Cheers.
  12. Just looked, and it is called Reel Deal Adventures, not Real Deal. I booked a trip with him at the end of the month. I will post a report after.
  13. Check out Real Deal Adventures on Facebook. He's a shore based guide and he is the king of peacock's in Pembroke Pines, Weston, Davie, Miramar area.
  14. Looking for a guide recommendation for Lake O. Thank you in advance.
