  8. ok if the spool tension knob is not needed then why does the manufacture say to set it with the magnets at zero untill it smoothly comes of the reel and the spool should stop when it reaches the floor. the tension nob is used at the beginning and the brakes at the end .all the instruction sheets for my reels state this just a thought.
  9. Not sure what the problem was with the berkley vanish you had thats the only line i use and never had a break off on it.now i have not used the new vanish transition yet but looking into it.
  10. night fishing is my favorite time to go bass fishing.not only is it cooler at night you pretty much have the lake to your self. my go to lures are soft plastics. culprit 7.5 black plastic worms and zoom ultra vibe speed craws in black and blue fleck. the best tip i can give you when fishing these two lures is do not listen for a splash after the cast listen for thud that will let you know you are right on the bank and work it out slow.i have cought monster bass doing this . and by the way when you drag the lure into the water make sure you are holding the rod tight night time bass wiil hit it really hard. have fun .
  11. have been looking into fly fishing for bass anyone have any tips and advice on fly fishing thanks.
  12. looking into purchasing an extra heavy flipping stick .i am considering purchasing the 7ft 6 inc extra heavy fenwick hmg flipping stick.i have never owned a fenwick rod would like some imput on this rod .any help would be appriciated.
  13. I AM NOT SHURE WHAT PROBLEMS PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THIS LINE . I MYSELF HAVE USED IT FOR MORE THAN 8 YEARS . I HAVE IT ON ALLMOST ALL MY COMBOS . I PERSONANLY HAVE NEVER LOST A FISH OR BROKE OF A LURE THAT WAS NOT MY OWN FAULT. IN MY OPINION IT IS VERY CASTABLE HAS THE LOWEST MEMORY OF ANY FLOURACARBON I KNOW I TRIED MANY TYPES BEFORE GOING TO VANISH.WITH THAT SAID IT DOES WORK VERY WELL FOR ME THATS JUST MY OPINION.
  14. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT BUYING A NEW ROD COMBO FOR TOP WATER AND CRANK BAITS. I WOULD PREFER A 7 FOOT FIBERGLASS ROD WITH A GOOD PAROBOLIC BEND.ALLREADY HAVE THE REEL . ANY SUGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
  15. This one is for rock chalk mine was about the same way untill i took her night fishing for large mouth. buy some black culprit worms and zoom ultra vibe craws and take her out night fishing.Trust me that first 5 lb large mouth will change her mind.
  16. O.K this may sound funny i began teaching my wife how to bass fish last spring . now here is the question how many have wished they never did this mine seems to love putting a wooping on me and brag for days on end about it I suppose she had a good teacher L.O.L
  17. i my self have several worm rod set ups . it basically depends on your fishing situation. for a small worm on a light weight wire hook i use a 6'6'medium fast action rod.10 -12 poound test. if i use a heavier wire hook with say 14-15 pound test i go up to a 7' medium heavy micro guide rod. the best advise i can give is to take into consideration how you want to fish your soft plastics and match your terminal tackle to the rod you are using.Hook size line weight exc.
  18. just got my new shimano stradic reel i allso purchased some berkley nanofill line in 17 lb test. just wandering what type of not to use on leaders and tieing directley to lure.
  19. been checking this out on line. wanting to try it on my local lake. i am mostly a jig and soft plastic fisherman and want to try something different. what would be a realy good rod and real combo to use on a drop shot rig?
  20. I would like a baitcaster that can cast heavy line as easy as it casts recomended 12 lb test line.
  21. Well mine has to be a baitcaster i purchased. now don't get me wrong i own two shimano spinning reels and they are great.I wanted to purchase one of there baitcasters i did a lot of reveiw reading and decided to purchase the caenan boy was that a mistake. while spooling the reel with line the spool and bearing made the worst grinding noise i have ever heard in a reel. figured i just got a defective reel. returned it and tried another it did the same thing.
  22. Just wanted to say thanks for the information. I tried the mr clean magic erasers this weekend and they worked absolutley great.just waiting to get my u40 sealer in the mail to use it. again thanks every one.
  23. if you turned it every 5 minutes that is one problem. let it run on the rod drier for 24 hours each coat. as for the 2 coats try using light build flex coat finish it works very well when applying 2 coats.just remember to let it run on the drier for 24 hours each coat.this is a self leveling epoxy and needs to turn on the rod drier at least 24 hours.
  24. seems that we are forgeting the ones that help started it all. my favorite picks to be in a boat with would have to be Bill Dance Rolland Martin and lets not forget about Jimmy Houston.if you could not learn something from legends like them hang up your rod.
  25. getting ready to do some service work on my rods and reels any one know a good product to clean cork handles and where to find it.
