  1. All Daiwa handles are interchangeable. Some Daiwa reels use a straight star drag and handle combo. In that case you have to swap out to a swept star drag to accommodate a swept handle. If it already has a swept star than you can use either style handle. 100mm for me is a bit long for a smaller finesse oriented reel but everyone has their own preference. As for the longer handle and gears part goes... a longer handle will allow you to turn the handle with less effort under load as say an 80mm handle would. You gain only leverage from a longer handle. People sometimes say it creates more torque and thus would be increasing the load on the gears, though that is not true.
  2. No, not at all. It’ll handle it just fine.
  3. It will accept any 34mm Daiwa spool. There are way too many to list. The best bang for your buck sv spool upgrade is the zillion 1016 sv tw from The Tackle Trap.
  4. Rod ratings are subjective and are only to be used as a rough guideline. I have MH rods that are rated up to 1.25oz and I’ve thrown a 1oz bait and it handled it like crap. I haven’t owned a 704 for some time now but I remember it having a soft tip and to me it would feel overloaded from what I remember it fished like.
  5. Yeah, same here. Any new braid purchases have been x8. Still have a few spools lined with 832 though. I should just invest in a bulk spool since #30 is my go to 90% of the time.
  6. Try out Daiwa J braid x8 for an affordable 8 carrier braid that works well. I’m a big sufix 832 fan and have been very impressed with the x8 so far. When fishing it side by side with 832 I can’t tell a difference.
  7. The tatula has a large bearing supported pinion gear. There’s also a small bearing under handle side plate where the ccc is, but it makes very little to no contact with the end of the spool shaft. I’ve never encountered this with any of the ones I’ve owned or serviced. Who knows, maybe I just got lucky though.
  8. Tackle Trap is the place for parts. I can’t for the life of me figure out how you can damage gears though by engaging the reel without a spool.
  9. Line diameter is more important vs rated test. You don’t want to kill the action of the bait with a heavy line. Sunline for example is on the thinner side when compared to other lines. So #14 sunline will be like others #12.
  10. Zillion tws handles are in stock on their site right now for $26.99 + $5 s&h
  11. If it’s out of stock at TTT then that means it’s on back order from Daiwa also. They keep their inventory up to date. What reel are you trying to buy a handle for? As mentioned the zillion/tatula assembly is the best value.
  12. You also have - TD A.O.I TD Ito TD-Z type R TD-Z type R+
  13. The Team Daiwa Z series spinning reels were released in 2000. They are the predecessor to the TD-Ignis. The reels feature a full magnesium body, magnesium handle, and an ABS spool. The reels were released in two models, both sporting gold and silver trim. They were made in Japan and are not saltwater safe. Introduced in 2003, the Team Daiwa-S-C is a more affordable version of the X-C and Z-C. The reel features less ball bearings, less weight reduction, and a rubber knob instead of the i-shape cork. It does retain features such as Twist Buster 2, ABS Air Spool, and the titanium coated line roller. The reel is offered in the same models as the X-C including the double paddle handle models. The S-C was last produced in 2004.
  14. The Tackle Trap in Alabama is an authorized Daiwa and Shimano service center. They service all brands of reels, both spinning and casting. Very good people to deal with.
  15. All of those parts can be ordered from Hedgehog studio. Those are made by Avail. They have a handful of colors but they only offer them in royal purple if you’re wanting purple ones.
  16. It’s built off the tatula platform. MB always builds off an existing Daiwa reel. It was a pretty big let down for a lot of Daiwa enthusiasts. Definitely would of liked to see them build off the Steez sv tw or something cooler than the tatula. You release a reel like the ito gambler monoblock and then follow it up with the rhodium. Kick in the b*lls really.
  17. I was pointing out they have a new offering available at this time.
  18. They have the new MB Rhodium. It’s quite a let down imo but it’s a new offering.
  19. I put the zillion 1016 sv spool in my sv 103 and it was a big improvement. I don’t have any plans to switch it out. I haven’t used the stock Steez spool yet. Next time out I’m going to compare it to the zillion spool and see if there’s a difference. When put side by side the zillion inductor sits a little closer to the spool base. It’s got me curious to see if it makes any noticeable difference.
  20. Fuji ACS reel seat Be sure to mount a reel and see how it feels then. A lot of people have a very strong dislike for that reel seat.
  21. The Zpi pg is a very fast spool in the Steez tw. Brake dial on 6 required some major thumb when throwing a 3/8oz dark sleeper. 7 was a lot more manageable, and 8 required no thumb. I didn’t play with spool tension and try to find a sweet spot though. Definitely not the same as when put in a tdz and you can skip with ease on 3 and loose tension. The stock spool is a good caster from what I’ve heard. I haven’t used mine yet since I went straight to the Zpi. I’ve never owned any sv spool that blew me away. I had the RCS 1012 sv in my monoblock and it casted very well. It’s since been moved to a Steez sv 103 and it’s a good performer in it also. Probably my favorite sv spool so far that I’ve tried. I really dig that spool but I wish it held more line so I could run it with #15 mono or fluoro.
  22. Here’s what I get from using a leader. shock absorbtion trebles and thin wire hooks abrasion resistance toothy fish, rocks, and zebra mussels breaking off snags lose 4ft instead of 20ft
  23. I’ve used this tool almost everyday for 13yrs in my profession, and never once thought about for fishing.
  24. I had to wait for the right deal to come along. Same color and parts basically as you. I had the handle bolt in my cart but took it out. Maybe later on down the road.
