  1. @fishwizzard Carbontex is smooth enough when ran dry and I’ve never seen a need for grease. The grease helps with overheating the washers but in bass fishing there’s nothing to worry about there.
  2. They’re are not required but it’s your money and you can spend it however you’d like. I’ve noticed minimal performance gain but certain bearings do make it easier to achieve the same distance with less effort. The gain you get for the money isn’t exactly cost effective but I enjoy tinkering and therefore I install Zpi Sic or YT Fusion HD+ bearings in all of my reels.
  3. #1 - That spool in a tdz is fantastic. It’s a great combo for anything. #2 - the M is a faster spool than the PG. The PG in a tdz is probably one of the best setups I’ve used. #3 - spend $8 on carbontex drag washers and run them dry. No need for grease on them.
  4. It depends on what shipping option you choose. EMS is $20 and usually gets delivered in like 3 days. Small packet air mail is $10 and generally takes about 1.5-2 weeks.
  5. .011 vs .013 .285 vs .330
  6. That’s easy! Megabass monoblock racing viola with matching Megabass Arms purple sunburst rod. Only 26 of each retrieve were produced and the rods are extremely rare too. Looking about $3,000 for a mint viola and add another $1,500+ for the rod.
  7. Ive used it before. I have no complaints about it really. The one thing I did notice is it seems to get more liquid like in the summer months than other stuff. I’ve been using Abu Silicote about a year now and really like it. It’s priced well and stays put.
  8. Easy solution. Buy rods just as nice as your reels. Shimano Expride is a very nice rod series.
  9. It's for sale haha. You can just buy the reel and it’s already done for you.
  10. I just picked up this locally the other day. I dressed it up a bit with some spare parts I had around.
  11. 13 met should fit just fine.
  12. Welcome to BR. What you quoted was 10 years old. That’s why the pic links aren’t working.
  13. I’m a little confused by your post. “Always want what you can’t have, so I built my own” It looks like you took a zillion 100HA and put the hlc spool in it. Possibly a different handle but it looks like a stock zillion handle from what I see. I’m not totally certain due to the angle though. Please correct me if I’m missing something here. I’m just trying to understand what you did. Both reels are built on the exact same platform so what issues are you referring to with the hlc? It’s one of the most highly spoken of og zillions.
  14. Or google it real quick. Generally TW will list it, or the manufacturer’s website. I have to do this for treble hook sizes sometimes.
  15. One of my favorite reels. Great performing all around reel.
  16. I have the 7’2 MH graphite Expride. It’s a great all purpose rod. Glass rods are to whippy for my liking.
  17. Mine had it also. I couldn’t feel it but at the right angle I could see it.
  18. Super easy to find. Call and speak to Thelma at Daiwa. (562) 375-6800
  19. That isn’t a separate part. It’s a piece of the side plate. You’ll need a new one and then will have to transfer everything over onto it.
  20. Haha I think you literally picked the smallest reel to use as your set standard. Anything will fit big in comparison. I love my Alphas SV and Zonda 68. Probably the most comfortable platform ever made.
  21. That would be incorrect. That’s the dc unit, and it’s mounted inside of the palm side plate. That’s from my reel when the bearings were installed.
  22. It’s built on the Curado K frame if you’ve ever messed with one of those. It’s a 150 sized reel so it’s not that big to begin with. It’s pretty comfortable in hand. My hands aren’t big and I didn’t notice it feeling oversized when using it. I’d say it’s similar to a tatula.
  23. The paper that comes with the reel says to set spool tension to where you just eliminate any wiggle in the spool. I ended up adding about another 1/4-1/2 turn on the tension knob. To set it like you see on these videos to where you can hit a wall or smack it into the ground requires high spool tension. Way more than what’s needed. Trust me I tried it haha. When set on 1 which is the max distance setting and having the tension set properly you will still get some fluffing of the spool but the braking system corrects it. However, setting 1 doesn’t outcast setting 2 by anymore than 5ft. I played around with all types of tension and settings on the dial. Setting 2 with the suggested spool tension + 1/4 turn yields the best results. You can lay into the cast and have no fluff or whatnot. You do still need to thumb it when it hits the water. The reel is not fool proof when setup right. To achieve that, you’re hindering the reels performance. I put 6hrs on mine yesterday and tossed a variety of baits with it. A nice reel for sure but just be aware that it’s not going to be like the marketing videos they have out there unless you set it up that way.
  24. It was for sale 3hrs after receiving it lol.
  25. Just prefer Daiwa.
