  1. might help if you'll say what you're looking to spend on this reel
  2. i mostly use the titanium terminators and never have an issue with the wire arm. i also fish war eagles a pretty decent bit and don't have a ton of issues with them, but a mean spotted bass can make a mess of a spinnerbait from time to time.
  3. awesome indeed and that lake looks mighty good from where i'm sitting!!!
  4. spots are mean in general and the coosa spots kick that up a notch for sure!
  5. awesome man, hope you guys are crushing them again today! happy to see UNC Charlotte up there too!
  6. yes mono will help. also, i don't think the pop x is an easy bait to walk. it can be done and i will do it, but starting out go for a longer pencil style bait. even the spook puppy you have isn't the easiest spook to walk. a megabass giant dog x is one of the easiest baits i've used to walk. a longer bait will help you get that rhythm down and be able to walk almost any bait after that. and i would try mono for the topwater. i like to use 12lb trilene big game or 12lb yozuri hybrid.
  7. i knocked a deep cycle battery off my kayak into the lake once.... was connected to my trolling motor on the back of the kayak. somehow the thing stayed connected and i was able to pull the battery back up by the cables and it worked fine afterward. I thought that was an ordeal over a $75 battery..... i'd be all kinds of mad if we were talking about a motor!!!
  8. of those, i'd go with the 7'1" MH as it will be a much more versatile stick than the glass cranking rod. but if you want this to be primarily used for crankbaits, it's hard to beat glass. i use a glass composite rod for cranking and love it.
  9. that's a nice combo for sure! i've got a dx 703c and a steez sv combo that is amazing. i imagine this combo you've got is a dream!
  10. i agree that the 2 piece major craft rods are not like most 2 pieces. once you start fishing it, you'll forget it's a 2 piece.
  11. i use both spinning and casting. if trying to skip more than cast, i'll opt for the spinning. spinning is dobyns dx 703sf with plueger supreme xt 9530 casting is nrx 853c with core 51mg i was using a nrx 852c but felt like it was just a little too light in some instances, the 853c seems to be a little better suited for me.
  12. if you can find the 6'10" MH original tatula you will be very pleased. though i own some other higher end rods, it's still one of my favorite rods that i own, hands down. It is the ideal rod for spinnerbaits and swim jigs, but would be able to do anything you throw at it. in any case, the tatula rods and a few notches above the st croix mojo in my opinion.
  13. big deal for you big ballers out there...... cabela's has the daiwa certate spinning reels $200 off, currently priced at $299!
  14. i went from 92.5% to 87%. was as high as 97.5% after toledo bend
  15. the only way i could have done worse would be to have picked no anglers at all!!!!
  16. to be fair, this one was caught on a public lake, not a private managed pond.
  17. i'm just hoping my guys are in a bad service area right now, otherwise it's ugly on basstrakk!! edwin evers brett hite brent chapman stephen browning chad morgenthaler
  18. that's a toad man, nice fish!
  19. His favorite saying for situations like that is "it sure beats sitting on the couch don't it?"
  20. Huskers gonna hate.....
  21. bobber and crickets will do him good.... to us a bass is a big deal, but to a 5 year old ANY FISH is typically a big deal. you'll catch all sorts of by-products in the meantime, but you'll hook into a bass too! here's my nephew at age 4 with a bass caught on a cricket under a bobber.
  22. haven't even used her yet, but i got a 3 piece daiwa ardito travel rod from TW for $80 shipped. They're actually more $ there, but they'll price match and if you go on walmart or amazon's website you can find them for $80. it's built a lot like my original tatula and if it performs half as well i'll be stoked!
  23. owner all purpose worm hook
  24. can't go wrong with these: ish's phat frog spro bronzeye booyah pad crasher i actually like the booyah myself, they have the softest body and collapses easily on hooksets. they're also cheaper and easier to find than the others.
