  1. just mounted mine up on a 853c GLX as my primary t rig rod.... they are very versatile reels.
  2. i own 2 NRX (852c and 853c) and recently purchased a new 2016 model GLX (853c). While i love the NRX and am not letting them go anytime soon, i would buy another GLX and save the additional money as i think the new GLX is every bit as good as the NRX... either way, you're going to end up with some nice gear that will be a pleasure to fish with!
  3. good call! i just ordered 100 each of size 4 and 6 from them. went with the mustad kvd trebles they have here which is the best price i've seen for anything comparable: https://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/index.cfm?page=detail&hookid=1128&view=1
  4. Does seem to have slowed back down a bit from Glenn's fix yesterday, was working great right after he did his magic.
  5. Thats where I got mine from! Gary is great to deal with. I'm not lying when I say I think it's every bit as good as the NRX. I'm limited to a couple outings with it, but stoked with it so far.
  6. I had a big bag of old beat up baits that i was using for practice. there was a super r in there that was still in good shape to be fished, but needed some new paint and the resident rebel expert @whitwolf told me to paint it and fish it so.... i wanted to try to free style my way into a bass pattern. i cut out the lateral line design in a piece of stencil material just freestyling with an exacto knife, but i think it worked out alright... there was one small smudge on the other side (not pictured) but otherwise i'm happy with it, not to mention this one might be my best epoxy topcoat job to date! the iphone pictures don't quite do it justice!
  7. was looking for a t rig rod for a while and was able to get my hands on the new GLX a while back and so i pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago. ended up going with the glx 853c and couldn't be happier with it at this point. i have a 852c and 853c in the nrx line and love them, but wanted something different for this rod. i had heard the glx was a hair more powerful than the nrx and i liked that it did not have recoil guides for this particular application. i honestly think this rod is just as good as the nrx i own. i paired it up with the aldebaran 51hg and was using 40# power pro braid. tossing a 1/8oz tungsten weight a 4/0 owner twistlock and whatever choice of plastic and it performed as well as i had hoped! i took it down to florida with me on vacation to get some casts in with it and get it slimed up to pass the @Goose52 test.... they didn't really want the t rig too bad, but i had one taker!
  8. I bought some on the bay the other day thinking I'd just scored the deal of the day, but when I got them they were some bronze garbage.... it's why I'm weary of any that don't seem to fall in line with the other pricing...
  9. man i'd like to, but i tried to get some lure eyes from them and after about a month of back and forth just canceled the order. not sure what the whole ordeal was there, but it was a bit absurd. also, i'd love to believe that a deal like $10 for 100 quality hooks exists, but after years of swallowing the "you get what you pay for" pill i feel like they've got to be pretty low quality to be as cheap or even cheaper than comparable BRONZE hooks. have you ordered and tried these hooks and if so could they compare in quality, durability, sharpness, etc.?
  10. thanks for letting us know, should help quell some questions!
  11. Pages certainly seem to be loading faster Glenn, nice work. It does still look like the photo max size is .49MB though, should that have changed or should I expect it to remain around that size for a max file load? Thank you sir!
  12. i'm shopping around for the best deal on a quality hook and just wondering where you guys look to buy hooks in quantities of 100? looking to buy these to match up to some lure blanks i'm going to paint. will likely just buy some size 6 and size 4 to keep it general for the baits that i'm painting. i don't need the absolute best hook on these, but don't want any garbage either. so far i've seen: Mustad 35647BN - 100 count size 6 is $21.38 Mustad TG76 NP-BN Treble Hooks - Black Nickel Kevin VanDam Triple Grip Sizes - 100 count size 6 is $32.20 anyone with any experience on those 2 hooks? any suggestions on other places to shop? thanks in advance for any help!
  13. i'll go as much as 2.5 tabs which is something like 55 strands my favorite one is my version of black and blue 2 tabs midnight magic and anywhere from like 4-11 strands of carolina blue it works well consistently and is what i landed my PB on!
  14. Scott I've done cropping and resizing on nearly every image I've uploaded to the site, the problem being I seem to have gone from 7mb loads at a time to .49 which even after resizing and all that only seems to allow me about 1 picture possibly 2 if they're the smallest ones. It seems apparent that there has been a change because folks like me who have been on here for a while and made a post or two are now having issues whereas there were no issues before.
  15. Frankly it has to be an issue or I feel that someone would have answered either this post or the many I've seen in other threads on the same issue that just recently popped up. Any light you can shed @Glenn ?
  16. The site is running slow on mobile and desktop regardless of browser I'm using too. I imagine the photo issue is a server space storage issue or something along those lines, but would be nice to confirm.....
  17. i've never once had an issue on here with posting photos, but looks like in the last couple weeks it's happened to a lot of people. i have a max total size of .49MB right now and have only used 37% of my attachment quota. i'm almost certain that up until a couple of weeks ago i was able to load up to 7MB at a time. did something change or do i need to change something to get back to where i was? appreciate the help!
  18. yeah, something is up because i have plenty of MB before i'm full and only allow .49MB per upload.... anyways, i'd been waiting and waiting to see if it was for sure what i wanted and i finally pulled the trigger on it! brand spanking new 2016 GLX 853c, this will be my primary t rig rod. I took it to the pond and made some casts with a 1/8oz tungsten weight and 7" trick worm and it was a blast to cast and pitch! very happy with this purchase!
  19. i considered this, but from the reviews on that line, it may not be worth it even at $50....
  20. i picked up a 7'1" MH Tatula casting rod a few weeks back and hadn't used it until tuesday night. wanted to get it slimed up so i could get the @Goose52 two thumbs up approval! went to the pond near my house and convinced one little guy to chomp on the booyah popping pad crasher! i had the 7'2" H version of this rod, but it was a little heavier than i wanted so i picked up this MH version and am very glad i did. it was the perfect balance of tip and backbone for my style of frogging!
  21. i'm not sure i have the fix, but be weary of applying to much glue or epoxy if you go that route.... just don't let it bleed through and glue that ring down to the threaded area!
  22. what store was the gift certificate for? that might help narrow it down to what that place carries...
  23. for me, i'm just not wasting good $ on good fluorocarbon for crankbaits.... i retie too often, cut off abrasions, etc. and it would be costly to use flurocarbon. i've been using 10lb big game mono or 10lb yo zuri hybrid for the most part. i prefer the big game as it is cheap, easy to find and works well. i've considered throwing them on braid, but haven't made that leap yet. i fish braid on almost all my other rigs, but haven't made that switch on the cranking rig just yet!
  24. the pond near me has been slooooooooow fishing the last couple times, but i managed to fool this little one into smacking my frog!
