  1. look at videos on how to tie a uni to uni knot. that's the one i use to connect braid to fluoro or mono
  2. i have my core 51mg7 on a NRX 852C and they're a sweet match for sure!
  3. you're killing it kyle, i really need you to start falling behind and quickly!!!!
  4. ^^ sick!!!!
  5. senko is easiest for me, arky jig second and a spro bronzeye jr would be third
  6. Thanks Scott, do you know in layman terms what the difference in the CHIRP and non CHIRP models are? Is the one with CHIRP considered the better unit?
  7. I'm looking to upgrade my fish finder on the kayak and have come across the Garmin 73SV echoMAP CHIRP unit and looking for some opinions on that unit. I'm looking for: Side Imaging GPS Maps or Mapping capability I've found the Garmin 73SV echoMAP CHIRP for about $605 shipped so it fits my budget and appears to have everything i'm after. just curious if any users here have any real world experience with that unit and if you could share your thoughts? if not, would there be another unit in that same range ($600-$750) that i should look at? I looked at Humminbird Helix 7SI and Lowrance 7 TI, but they don't come with the preloaded maps and appear to do about the same as far as features. Appreciate any insight you may have!
  8. Very glad to hear!!
  9. I might still opt for the GLX only because I'm still not totally sold on the recoil guides on the NRX.
  10. thanks to everyone on the captain hooks heads up! i received the hooks last night and the appear to be the real deal and best price i found on them, might be worth looking into @A-Jay only thing i'm wondering now if i should have got some size 2's as well since they're such a shorter shank and could afford to go up in size.... what's the most common size you guys would use in these particular hooks on say a 1.5 vs 2.5 size crankbait?
  11. Robert, I watched the video again when I got home and will say of all the ones on how to tie the FG knot, this may very well be the better video!
  12. one option to consider is the ABA tournaments they run on allatoona. don't have to join a club, no commitments and a good group to fish with. i don't have a boat so i fished a few this year as a co-angler and really enjoyed it. i didn't want to commit to the time i would have to spend with a club so the ABA thing is great. otherwise i know there is marietta bassmasters and north cobb bass club
  13. i actually really like using the cellblok so if i could continue using it with a side imaging unit i definitely would. i love being able to remove the thing if traveling and want to lock it in the truck. also great for hitting the river when i just want to remove it to avoid snags and reduce the weight of the yak. i'm really intrigued by the SI and figure if i can find a deal on a good unit that has it, why not?
  14. man i think it was last year i tried for about 3 weeks to tie this knot.... after much cussing and much failure i gave up. i'd love to learn this knot because when tied properly it looks so much smaller than my uni to uni. however, the multiple failures i had with the knot left me with less than zero confidence so i just had to throw in the towel!
  15. Wondering if there are any downsides to using a side scan unit in a kayak? I have a wilderness ride 135 and currently have a lowrance 4x HDI, but want to upgrade to something a little larger, something with GPS and potentially side scan if there are no drawbacks since it will be in a kayak. I'm using the yakattack cellblok thing now, mounted on the side rail of the kayak and the transducer arm off the side. Would this same setup work for the side scan or would i need to mount the transducer elsewhere? are there any issues using the side scan if the transducer were to be mounted through a scupper hole? appreciate any insight you guys may have!

  17. i believe lake keowee has a few smallmouth in there as well
  18. well this is all i do and i don't prefer one over the other to be honest.... i worked for Lowe's corporate, HD 3rd party vendor and now work for a supplier to both THD and Lowe's. Internally, they both know the key difference between Lowe's and THD is a left or right hand turn (convenience). They've spent millions on market research to find the driving difference and at the end of the day, location is king. also, not a menards for days around here.... Lowe's actually owns the brands Kobalt, project source (junk), blue hawk (junk), allen & roth, utilitech and quite a few more. They outsource production of all these materials to other vendors, 99% of them being overseas. They love these propietary brands because they make a better margin on them by using their own brand. THD has Husky and HDX that i know of and i'm certain other brands as well, same deal as Lowe's in that they outsource all of these products and make zero of them. I work for SharkBite and can tell you that if it's not already in your Lowe's, it will be by the end of August! We are currently in a little over half of the Lowe's in the country and expanding to the remaining states in August!
  19. tombstone casino heat i could watch all 3 in rotation for days!
  20. they're great to deal with and i really like the 2 champion extremes i currently own.
  21. Thanks Allen. It's a lot of fun to just give it a go and see what you come up with!
  22. i don't think they have a site, not even sure if they're still operational. i think the bay is where you'd probably find them these days. that bait has an incredible deep tone that is a bit different than a lot of deep diving baits. that plus the different profile sets them apart for me.
  23. walking bait (megabass giant dog x if i had to have just one) popper (megabass pop x if i had to have just one) trick worms (with hooks and weights) senkos (with hooks) beetle spin blade with upgraded jighead and your grub of choice if it's weed choked, toss in a frog flukes (with hooks)
  24. you mean like a longer body profile than the typical type crank? almost jerkbait type profile, but for deep divers? if so, zenith tackle z75. good luck finding many, but they can be found. i just picked up 5 new in box not too long ago from the forums.
  25. in my opinion, for a spinning reel, they can't be beat. i have trions, a president, a supreme and a patriarch and they do not let me down. i'd tried some other high end spinning reels from daiwa and shimano and sold them all and ended up with all pflueger. they are buttery smooth and built to last.
