  1. regular tatula, never tried the XT used to have an avid, but sold it. i'd take a tatula over the avid every single day.
  2. tatula for $110 = no brainer. i have the 6'10" MH/F casting rod and it's one of my favorite rods i own. i've tried some other ones with thoughts of replacing the tatula and each time i remember just how much i like that rod. it's just a phenomenal all around stick and worth every penny of the $110 you can find them for right now.
  3. black and blue or black and green.... those will work just about anywhere and everywhere!
  4. for a broken guide, i'd try to get it replaced somewhere local to you. i'd hate to have to ship it off to CA for a guide replacement and hope that the shipping company doesn't actually damage in transit! maybe contact shimano to see if they'll send you the OEM guide.
  5. yeah at $600 i'd buy it myself and see how you like it. i'd say you'd have zero problems getting your money back if you decide it's not for you.
  6. if lead, take a toothpick or something like that and kind of bore out the hole a little bit.
  7. i much prefer the rod glove brand. made very well and woven tight enough that the guides don't pop through it often or at all.
  8. i'd probably go with the 7' because the fast tip vs x fast. i like the fast tip for the lighter line/smaller hook type of stuff you're going to throw. also goes a hair lighter on the lure weights and if you're fishing over 3/8oz you should be able to do that on you're casting rod if you want.
  9. 12 minutes! probably longer than you've lasted in a while!!!
  10. Hit the Chattahoochee early Saturday AM with a buddy we floated until late afternoon and we had a great time. We put in at the Morgan Falls Dam and floated down to the Cochran Shoals area. Fished right at the dam in hopes of hooking into some Stripers, but no luck with that. However, my buddy hooked a nice largemouth right as we launched, it was right around 3.5 lbs. Went on to catch a few small spotted bass as we floated on down, all around the 1lb mark. Not far from the takeout point I made a couple casts into a really good looking little pool behind some big brush piles. Had a 1/4oz terminator spinnerbait with the single oklahoma blade and a zoom chartreuse single tail grub tied on. For a second i thought i had got snagged on a log until that "log" almost jerked the rod out of my hands!! A short fight ensued and before long i had it in the kayak. It was a bruiser bass, really nice sized spot for the river that went right at 2.9 lbs! Ended up with 9 bass between the 2 of us and had a really good time, despite the blazing temps!
  11. that sucks, hope you recover quickly!
  12. it's called JJ's Magic. it'll die your soft plastics a very strong chartreuse color and reeks of Garlic!
  13. roboworm or zoom, mostly the roboworm though
  14. VERY MUCH agree with you on the morning dawn roboworm! they'll tear that thing up on either a shakyhead or dropshot.
  15. way to go man, keep at it!
  16. that's a really nice fish there man!
  17. looks like bluegill beds to me. one thing to note though, if you're close enough to see them, they're likely to see you too.
  18. Company of about 30,000 employees so I've no doubt it's in their best interest....
  19. OK that's a great idea! Thanks Ted!
  20. For those of you that wire tie your own skirts to jigs, how do you go about adding a rattle/rattles to the jigs? Also, what type of rattles are you using? Thanks!
  21. that's a good point man, didn't really think about that!
  22. I've never felt the need for one as most places i load and unload are right at the water. However, there's one place on the river where it's a pretty solid haul from the takeout to the truck. It's more or less impossible for me to do solo with my ride 135. So i've thought about constructing a PVC cart as a cheap alternative to get from point A to B. curious if any on here have or use one? If so, is yours the kind where it goes through the scupper holes or just sits on top of said cart and gets strapped down somehow? If you do have the scupper kind, how do you line it up to get the rods through the scupper holes while the kayak is sitting on the ground? Thanks for any input!
  23. nice buy man! you see any core 51 or 101's in there? it's hard for a lefty out here!!
