  1. that's nice Mike! i love that peppered black head on the swim jigs and i've done well on your "lavender shad" or whatever that one is with the purple accents.
  2. dang man, i'd almost get married again for that ..... ALMOST!!! i need to tell my wife she owes me! congrats on the rods and the wedding!
  3. wow, that looks like the right size to fill the boat! i have one lake that is loaded with bluegill and some big bass, this thing would be awesome there!
  4. thanks for the replies guys! i was wondering if the braid would compensate for the lighter power, but now i'm thinking maybe the 703 would be the right play...
  5. anyone using the Dobyns DX HP 702c for weightless senkos/flukes? i'd be using 15 or 20lb braid with it and i'm wondering if anyone uses the 2 power for weightless plastics and what your thoughts are on them. thanks in advance!
  6. in different situations i like and use: big game, suffix siege and izorline xxx
  7. it's very close, if you were rafting the whitewater stretch of the fairly famous nantahala river you were in NC and not far away from this lake.
  8. i was wondering if it would be the same size as a core 50mg7 maybe? i couldn't find the aldebaran listed anywhere in their spreadsheet on the smooooth drag website...
  9. Anyone know which size, if any, of the Carbontex drag washers are a fit for the Aldebaran MG7? Thanks in advance!
  10. there's some good stuff in there. i was tempted to place an order and then snapped out of that trance to remember i have too many plastics right now as is!

  14. what side of town do you live on? there's a few folks on here from the Atlanta area that can probably offer up some ideas, but if you give a general location of where you are that'll help narrow it down.
  15. we don't get to do it enough, but when we go it's always a great time. i know my dad really enjoys getting out there with me too. now we've got my nephews hooked too. every time i talk to them it's "when are we going fishing"! but right now, they're trying to get my dad to take them deer hunting!
  16. "nightcrawlers" that'll get 98% of them to move on!
  17. @whitwolf is the guy you need to ask, if brad doesn't know, he knows somebody that knows!
  18. not sure if it's what they were using but the damiki air craw has some thick "meaty" type claws that actually float. love those things.
  19. agreed! i was whacking the fish in the river this summer with the chartreuse/black flake and the luminous color.
  20. i prefer braid for both, 30lb is my go to. if i feel it is needed, i can always tie on a fluoro or mono leader, although i tend to go with 16lb sniper fluoro if needed.
  21. don't be man, it's about what makes you happy! let's see what you're working with!
  22. that's incredible man! fishing skills run deep in this family!
  23. I drove up to western NC friday after work to do some fishing with the old man on Saturday. he got a boat about 2 months ago and i hadn't had the chance to even see it yet so it was long overdue! it's an 18' xpress with a yamaha 175 vmax. really nice, really clean perfect fishing setup! he just needs to get his fishfinder wired up properly and it'll be 100% set for many trips to come! we headed for a nice lake we used to frequent when i was a kid, lake nantahala. when we got there, they'd pulled nearly all the water out of the place and it was wayyyyy down! nevertheless we set out to make a day of it. the weather and scenery could not have been any better, just a beautiful day to be on the water! however, the fishing could have been much better! i caught nothing but the aroma of a skunk!!! the old man schooled me with his 2 daiwa gold spincast setups and his handful of tackle he brought with him. he ended up with 3 fish, a keeper largemouth, short smallie and a keeper smallie. all caught on the same crankbait he started the day out with.... it's always a humbling experience when my simpleton dad schools me on the water, but i'll take it every time! we had an absolute blast and his boat was awesome. we pulled up to a grill/cafe joint on the lake and had the best and biggest plate of ribs i've had in forever. just a great day and great times! to cap it off we even caught a show from 2 bald eagles doing some kamikaze dives on each other way up in the back of one of the creeks!
