  2. Welcome man, Go Heels!
  3. Welcome, Go Heels!
  4. river2sea s waver if you're on a budget
  5. My curado 300e is sweet for throwing the same sized swim baits you listed, paired with the okuma guide select swimbait rod MH very nice pair
  6. throw upstream, the bait follows the natural current. now if you find a really slow moving spot with little current, you can nearly fan cast it. those crankbaits will suffer the abuse of banging off the rocks, but as you already said, they will get bit! one other thing, if you find a creek or spring feeding into the river, fish that spot hard and slow.... there will be some fish around there. there is one spot on the chatahoochee where a smaller creek feeds in near this golf course, everyday of the week i can paddle straight there and catch 3 - 6 smaller bass in a dozen casts....
  7. Nice spot! What type of jig are you fishing around those rocks? If you're fishing a football style head, you're just in for a headache because you'll get hung up A LOT. you can also bang a shallow/medium crankbait off those rocks and really trigger some nice strikes.
  8. laughing pretty hard here at my desk after visiting that link..... NEVER have I EVER pulled in a fish with this method....
  9. i love mine, and like you found it used for a great price
  10. nice fish, pretty sure the smile tells the whole story!
  11. NICE, wish i had some of those smallies nearby!
  12. if anything, it may push them out from where they're swimming which should reduce the size of the water you need to hunt them down.... we had 2 ponds at my house as a kid. the bigger one was about an acre or so in size. my brother and i would be swimming, jumping, everything under the sun while my great uncle and his friend would be on the other bank catching fish like any other day. as said, easy with involving the HOA "authorities", let kids be kids and just go fishing when and while you can.
  13. shameful, but can't help but agree i'ts crazy the fact they allowed this unsubstantiated claim to be the record to begin with.....
  14. Pete, you need to write headlines somewhere!!! nice catch, even better deception on the thread!
  15. i'm a lot like flyfisher. if it doesn't fit in the crate, aside from rods, it's not coming with me. that doesn't include my depth finder and battery. I have an Ascend FS10 so essentially the EXACT same kayak. i built a pretty sweet@ss crate for it that has 6 rod holders. I can carry every combo, lure, plastic, etc. i own in this kayak. i have all my plastics in a worm binder, all other lures in some plano boxes. i will try to snag some pics if i can find some, or take some and show you what it looks like. best advice is just don't rig anything final to the boat unless you're absolutely certain thats the right spot for it.... ALMOST forgot, i also can fit the dog in with all that stuff, he rides captain style on the front as you can see in my avatar<<<<<<
  16. what type of kayak are you going to get? what styles/baits do you usually use? how many rods do you usually carry with you? these questions/answers i think will help to get you a better answer.
  17. I went to Weiss Lake this weekend for an annual Memorial Day get together with friends. Stayed lake side and had a blast! Did not fish NEARLY as much as I would have like considering the lake looks like a bass fisher's wet dream! I managed to snag these two nice healthy bass. The first one may have been one of the meanest fish I've ever hooked into. He did not want to get in the boat and literally had me soaking wet from fighting him at the boat. Wish I could have fished more, but it felt great to be out on the water!
  18. Going to be heading to Weiss Lake staying in Cedar Bluff, AL for Memorial Day weekend. Taking the kayak and staying at a friends house right on the lake. I've been here once, but never fished it. It's shallow and from what I remember there were a ton of stumps/brush. Just looking for any tips/techniques/hot bites right now if you have them. Greatly appreciate the help in advance. Thanks!
  19. very nice, awesome pics of that lake! now expect to hear about how she caught a bigger fish than you .... FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE
  20. Tommy, I've seen you out there based upon that boat image! I love the lake, it's so close to home, but have had some real trouble locating fish out there. That lake is very different from one end to the other and to me seems to offer the fish a lot of spots to hide!
  21. sweet ride! first and foremost, don't just have a PFD but WEAR IT! have a good waterproof light with you at all times. i like to wear a hat that contrasts the water and or grass for a little added visibility for boats. lastly, if on choppy water or moving water (river) i carry a small pool toy that sucks up water and spits it out for quick bailing... thats about it. oh and have a pretty decent quality paddle that's the appropriate length....
  22. it would be me, falling in the 50 degree water AT THE RAMP, trying to get in my kayak like i had never done it before.....
  23. my golf and disc golf time has basically diminished to the point of non existent..... fishing is just so d*mn fun for me
  24. flies, crickets, nightcrawlers, smaller baits.... tons of fun. google some trout fishing areas near dillard and you'll have an abundance of areas to look at. one of the best/most scenic areas is along the cullasaja river between franklin and highlands, nc (it's in NC but only 15 mins from Dillard, GA)
