  1. Interstingly enough, I actually just read the fine print on my St Croix tag a couple days ago after realizing I never submitted the warranty (triumph series, probably never worth returning anyways after shipping).... anyways it says if you didn't fill out the warranty within the 30 days that the 5 year warranty begins on the date the rod was manufactured. I figured you were just out of luck as well, but according to what i was reading they will cover it for 5 years from date of manufacture!
  2. Opinions needed from you guys on whether you think a Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod 7'2" Med Hvy is suited for tossing jigs (1/4oz to 1/2 oz)/texas rigged worms? It's a regular blank...
  3. BRAVES!!!! But nice fishing, OP..... definitely think you'll see improved hook sets and catch rates with a big ol' A on the hat!!
  4. A mere 5lb6oz, but looks like it could have ate my 25lb dog whole.....
  5. like i said.....
  6. i went to alatoona for the first time ever last sunday to a friend's place and took my kayak. HOLY COW is the lake crowded and busy. I'm sure Tues night is another story but I felt like I was on the Atlantic Ocean in a storm! There may have been fish there, but I couldn't stay steady enough to cast let alone catch any!
  7. of course the people in the office don't understand my excitement......
  8. My package showed up!!!!!! Now more than usual, I can't wait to get out here!! Ready to spool these beauties up and get some yard casts in tonight before the lake debut this weekend!
  9. the lure action is awesome and those are some big fish.... i'm not familiar with fishing for pike, but whoa!!
  10. Mike is an awesome guy to deal with. I have a few of his swim jigs and they are top notch. I had him make me up an assortment a while back and got a couple swim jigs and they are truly the best i've ever had. My advice, get the wire ties. He'll help you out if you need, shoot him a PM on here.
  11. Doesn't Hank Parker write some articles?
  12. Google the Duct Seal method. Should be able to find a spot inside the hull of the kayak and place the transducer using duct seal. This through hull method works great for me and my cheapy garmin echo on my yak...
  13. no biggie, i got the pair with next day shipping for $209 so that's not too shabby either.... even at full price though these reels are fantastic. i got my either at BPS on the reel trade in. this tatula/tatula combo is going to be sweet!
  14. no worries, just glad you guys helped seal the deal..... i went home last night, put my existing tatula reel on the tatula rod and it was apparent that i needed another one (i use right handed reels for moving baits and left handed for pitching/flipping, weird i know) so i ordered 2 new lefty's last night.... now i'm stoked to know you guys are throwing some lighter baits with ease. the reels are so buttery smooth on cast and retrieve it's insane.
  15. i'm a junkie....... i edited my order and made it for 2 tatulas!!!
  16. just ordered tatula number two!!
  17. funny you say that because i've thought about that as well.... i have a tatula on my spinnerbait/buzzbait combo and i do love it..... maybe you made my mind up for me... any experience with the tatula reels and casting say 1/4 oz baits? i just want a reel that is no hassle once you get it dialed in and able to throw some smaller size baits like a 1/4 oz finesse or perhaps even weightless senkos.....
  18. that little dude has a solid chunker in his hands, looks he might have outfished his old man!!
  19. I'll keep that in mind, though that would only lead to more "musical chairs" with my lineup.... LOL
  20. What's your primary use for it?
  21. Last night I went to return a Pro Qualifier I bought recently, but couldn't get dialed in right for me.... Had every intention of picking up a replacement reel, but couldn't find anything suitable in the limited lefty's they had. I browsed the rod section and soon after walked out with a 6'10"MHF Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod. I'm looking to pair this with a nicer reel, maybe a 7.1:1 Lew's BB1 or Tourney Pro. I like to have a rod/reel setup specific for jigs around the 1/4-1/2 range and then a separate set up for plastics/worms generally t rigged. What application would you use the new rod for jigs or plastics? I know I could use this for both, but just curious your opinions on which one you would prefer. Either way, I'm just looking forward to some time on the water with this new rod! Thanks!
  22. Just picked up a Tatula last night. Can't say anything for the Fenwick, but I was actually debating between the rage and the tatula. Once in your hand, there seemed to be little comparison in terms of feel, balance and weight. I walked out with the Tatula....
  23. I bought some mend it for some soft swimbaits I have, it just hit me last week that I need to start using it on the rage plastics..... I'm always late to the game....
  24. Green pumpkin zoom trick worm..... i literally have a rod/reel set up dedicated to the 1/4 bullet weight, worm hook and green pumpkin trick worm texas rigged. it has accounted for most of my catches this year!
  25. Nice fish Mike, I got the tracking confirmation on my recent order, should be here any day. I hope to post a "look at my pig on my siebert jig" thread after my trip next weekend!
