  1. kyle's a good kid that has his head on straight and that was evident when i first sent him a few items some time ago. this post shows his maturity and ability to think outside the norm from a lot of kids his age. good on ya kyle for paying it forward, i'm a firm believer that it all comes back around!!
  2. i have 2 (alphas version) of these reels. #1 is my "bfs" unit on a 6'7" L major craft go emotion. #2 is on a megabass phase 3 bearing down and is without a doubt the sweetest jig skipping combo i've ever had the pleasure of using. i'd imagine any good ml or m fast rod would suit both applications you're looking at.
  3. 1st cast caught a bass, very next cast catch another. 3rd catch she comes back with no bill
  4. i have a smaller one and deeper one. the smaller one is the ticket for terminal tackle, i love it. however, i'm like you in that i just don't love the deeper version. i have my cranks in there, but it can be difficult to really see what you're working with, especially in low light conditions!
  5. Gander mountain, I bought the only ones they had!
  6. a few things i snagged on a work trip to NC
  7. nice work old timer!
  8. my neighbor has mowed like 3 times since january..... my bermuda is still dormant, but starting to pop up in the back of my house. i hate mowing so if that's a sign of spring i say let's stay with winter!
  9. take the 3 weeks to recover well and get back to fishing in one whole piece. good luck on a speedy recovery!
  10. get an alphas sv 105. i have 2 of them and a steez sv and the alphas sv is hard to beat for the money. super versatile, but they are more along the size of a 50 size shimano rather than metanium.
  11. and the 110 jr..... otherwise these are about the only jerkbaits i own aside from a few jackall squad minnows.
  12. evidently so!
  13. just hope there's no length or weight requirements because i doubt this little dude was meeting the criteria!!
  14. picked up a new 6'7" ML 13Envy spinning rod a couple weeks ago. paired it up with a pflueger patriarch 30 size reel i already had. It's perfect for some of the lighter stuff i'm throwing. was able to get out sunday and land one little guy on it. he fell for the 7" weightless trick worm - morning dawn color. had to wait for this fish to post the pic, just to get the @Goose52 approval.....
  15. start as early as you can! i took my nephew when he was about 2. Started his brother out at about that same age. Every time i talk to my older nephew (4 now) he says "Unc when are we going fishing?" EVERY TIME! they are both much better with the spincast. i tried them with spinning and it was awkward for them to use so we stuck with the spincast for now. the dock demon is hard to beat man, they've put that thing through hell and back and it still works like a charm! starts from somewhere too, here's a pic of me about 30 years ago with my stringer! and here are my dudes!
  16. i would opt for a 3 power dobyns for the all around rod. i have a dx 703 that easily covers all those techniques you listed.
  17. Finally snagged a MS mini slammer after a LOOOOOOOOOOONG wait and ultimately changed the color pattern i had ordered from the black to the bass just so that i could get one before 2020! Then i snagged a triple trout that's kind of a bone with some glitter flake in there. i've got one particular lake in mind that i can't wait to throw these on and see if they call in the donkeys!
  18. That's my #1 hands down, usually 1/8 oz. the same one but yellow with red dots and silver blade is #2
  19. i never just retrieve it straight. i'll pump it a bit, speed up/slow down and yo-yo it. i'll work it every which way possible. I for one don't fish them a ton in just open water, i prefer to bang them off a stump, rock, laydown, etc. and then let the fish come off that cover and smash it!
  20. those do look good, but they need to be soaking up some water!
  21. yeah i agree with A jay, i've had glass and graphite and both worked. then i got a custom built phenix x-10 composite and that thing is the "goldilocks" rod, it is just right.
  22. best bang for the buck rod you can buy i think
  23. i'm typically 10 or 15lb braid on my spinning rods, but i'd imagine you can work with 30, but i wouldn't venture any higher than 30.
  24. Eco pro makes some, just got some on sale at a cabela's. Owner makes my favorite, hands down. I think they call it a pivot head.
