  1. Well guys, Baton Rouge did not disappoint! That University Lake is something else! What a honey hole right there on campus. I now understand why people like @Sam get all tore up over some LSU...... very cool campus and nice area. I'd have never graduated if i had all that fishing, casino, etc. around! I ended up catching a good bit of small bass, a couple crappie (sacalait or whatever y'all call them!) and a few little sunnies. All fish caught on small moving baits, rooster tails, beetle spins, mini rebel cricket cranks. Couldn't get a bite on the plastic worms though! Really enjoyed myself and hope to find my way back here soon, thanks to @Sam @Catt and @Troy1985s for the info! Couple pics, one of me proudly sporting my UNC shirt on the LSU campus!
  2. Man I went yesterday in the evening to the park and struck out. BUT what an awesome place man! That is a gem! Wish we had something like that close to my house.... i went to Drago's last night and put down some chargrilled oysters and seafood pasta and man it was good! headed to Baton Rouge this afternoon to try my luck there!
  3. Thanks fellas! Looks like I'll be inner city bassin' next week! Apprecaite the info on fish and food!! I'm actually staying in Metairie so I'll hit up Drago's for sure.
  4. thanks for all that helpful information Sam!! i did repost this in the central too, i posted here out of habit! i'm excited to try all this crazy food that i know nothing about! i've been all over the country, but never been around the bayou area so i'm stoked! i have a 3 day license i purchased online. i'll only have a couple hours here and there to fish so i can't commit to a booked trip or anything, but the city parks looked like good options that will be very close to where i'm staying and allow me to maximize the time i can fish. i'm just blown away at how much public fishing water there seems to be in these metro areas. not quite like we have around the Atlanta area which is slim to none, more like none! thanks again sam, i'm looking forward to it!
  5. Originally posted this in the southeast forum out of habit! I will be in New Orleans and Baton Rouge next week for work. Staying in the city in both places and looking to carry a rod or two with me and squeeze in a few casts when i can. I'll have a rental car too so no issues there. I'm staying very close to city park in new orleans and city park in baton rouge. Both appear to be accessible and good spots to fish. Anyone ever fish either of these 2 places and any information you can offer up on either of them? Also, any food recommendations welcome! Staying in Metairie in New Orleans and very close to LSU in Baton Rouge but willing to drive a little for some food that must be had before i leave town! Thanks!
  6. Sales Analyst, not really fun per se, i call fishing fun!

  8. same bait, but chartreuse black back is my go to most times.
  9. same as above, i have 2 and i don't know if they have an insert or not. i have never noticed any reel feet being scratched when taking them off either.
  10. Only fished some backwoods lakes and streams out there. Would love to go on like a month long fish excursion around there!
  11. yeah bad time to use the word, no snagging involved! he suicide swiped my LC squarebill, but it was a clean bottom lip hook!
  12. it's not over yet! and as far as this next one goes, i think i literally may use the monkey method. there's just little to go on and i'm not so sure of anybody in this event!
  13. i'm coming in to claim that spotted spot @Bluebasser86 !! i know i'd had your mark beat already Clayton, but couldn't find any photos to prove it. Last night i went out and snagged this 3.42 lb spotted beauty! I'd be surprised to find that there's not somebody on here that can smash that. A big Coosa spot, lake lanier spot or a NorCal spot could blow this one out of the water.
  14. it's hard to say you wasted $3 because the value is in the eye of the beholder. that said, if you were to go through all my previous posts, the glo-vis braid is the one and only line i've ever just outright trashed. it did not perform well and has some slimy type of coating (for the glow no doubt) that would make the line sticky on the cast and retrieve and the same coating made tying clean knots a little more difficult than usual.
  15. i really like the berkley fusion 2/0 with the weedgaurds
  16. i think scott martin was throwing a megabass 110+ A.K.A. "unspecified jerkbait"
  17. goes a little somethin' like this:
  18. i don't guess it's all that unnatural really, but morning dawn/chartreuse tail worms are killer in the warmer months for me. that doesn't really mimic a single thing in the lakes that i'm aware of, but man it works!
  19. This nice little rainbow trout said it was "worth it" on saturday..... problem is that about 30 minutes later i broke this beauty off on a snag. i believe it was a ITO clear laker which is a nice color for some clear water fishing.
  20. sitting pretty in 1st place in the BR crew group! 97.6% and 749th overall. i jumped up quite a bit after this event!
  21. I picked Matt solely because I thought he'd be really trying to breakout from his brothers win at the classic.... not to mention he's an awesome angler and I thought he be a good fit at Toledo. I enjoyed this broadcast immensely. Zona seems like a good dude, but he derails the conversation sometimes and goes way too far down the hole. I think Davy is great and would like to see him on the permanent rotation in the studio.
  22. i've got a few in the top 10 according to the basstrakk score A- Jason Christie B - Todd Faircloth C - Aaron Martens D - Matt Lee E - Chris Zaldain
  23. i have a small variety of jerkbaits, but that includes some 110's and 110 jr's. they work, but that's not to say other baits don't work. if i'm just junk fishing for fun i'll throw some other brand that may be cheaper and easier to say goodbye to. same goes if i'm fishing somewhere that's really snag happy. i've had a bill or two break, but i just write it off and move on. and i've had bills break on other brands as well. i like senkos too, but just last week i went through 2 bags in about 2 hours at the pond and that was even using the heat shrink tube on them. but at that rate i'll pay for a 110 jerkbait in about 4 hours and i'll expect that jerkbait to last MUCH longer than the senkos! all that said, i don't fish around any toothy dinosaur fish so that would definitely be a different factor i don't currently have in the equation!
