  1. Does anyone know for certain what other model reels I could use the cast control/spool tension cap from to swap on the Curado K? I want to get rid of the gold trim one that came on it and put a black or gunmetal on there. I have some from the US ’13 metanium which fit, but don’t seem to screw down far enough to actually tighten/lock the drag down. Anyone know for certain which other models I could look at for the swap? Thanks!
  2. i've got a daiwa ardito spinning rod, ardito casting rod and okuma travel swimbait rod. the daiwas are great for the money i paid for them! i got them for about $85 or $90 and they're great. i've taken them on the plane a few times without issue and they fish very well for the $.... the citrix i just picked up and will be really putting it to work in a few weeks on a trip to Phoenix...
  3. This was a "XXX" Valentine's present from my wife It took a bit longer to get here than i'd expected, but the wait was worth it! Exactly what i was wanting for jerkbaits and topwaters. Pairing it up with the Aldebaran MG7 for a sweet duo!
  4. you're correct, been going through this ordeal at work. this is directly from the very easy to follow 183 page guidelines from UPS. very "easily" and "clearly" located in pages 120-122 rods are falling into the large package surcharge because they're exceeding the dimensions.
  5. I've got a Garmin 73SV on my kayak and left the transducer arm when coming back to the ramp on a previous trip and got a few little scratches/scuffs on the transducer. in my opinion, i'd say nothing major, but the last time i went out the side imaging and down imaging looked like nothing but intereference on the screen while the traditional sonar seemed to work pretty much ok. they were all reading the same depths and all, but the screens on the down imaging and side imaging looked "fuzzy". wish i'd have taken a picture, but it was raining so hard the whole time out, i figured it would surely ruin my phone if i did. is it likely that some light scratch/scuff marks on the transducer would have such an impact on it? or maybe something else was going on? It was a VERY shallow lake, like never deeper than 15' so i'm not sure if that played into it or not.... maybe i didn't have the setting dialed in right for that shallow? appreciate any thoughts on what to look at or try next time i'm out on the water if i have the same issue.....
  6. i'm certain it will NOT catch fish hanging around your house!!!!!!!
  7. honestly no. i have a 15 metanium dc and love it, but it's not winning the distance competition among my reels. i like it because it's the most consistent casting reel i think i have. it's a spinnerbait machine for casting into the wind with no issues. for distance, i think i have a couple of reels that i can consistently cast longer than the DC like the steez sv or lew's pro z for sure. that may just be me, but that's my experience.
  8. terminator t1 because of vibration, durability and they catch fish. obvious downside is the cost, but if you find them on sale that's when to stock up....
  9. don't know about spinning for these baits, but for casting i'd vote for Dobyns Fury 795SB. i have one and would think it would be best for an overall rod like it seems you're after, rated 1-5 oz. otherwise, i also have an irod swimbait jr rod that would be an option, but it's a little more moderate than the fury and it's rated 1-4 oz.
  10. i've done alright with them on allatoona when the water is anywhere under say 60 degrees or so. i also don't run a trailer on them which lets the feathers little flutter and i think makes for a slimmer looking profile.
  11. you're right on #2. there's some very hard to make out scribble on it, but definitely says m burns or berns and 16. and on further inspection found "square z" etched into the bill on #4 which i guess is a Zoom WEC.
  12. they were on clearance for like 12.97. BUT clearance was buy 5 get 5 free. so i was like $65 for them and then i had a 20% off coupon too..... sooooo i kinda had to...... i already had a few of them and really like them so for that price and the options they still had available it was a no brainer!
  13. I have some balsa baits I picked up sometime ago and have never got around to fishing them and frankly not sure what i have. i think the #5-#9 group are some homemade baits and the #1-#4 group some more "mainstream" balsa baits, but i don't know! Anyone able to help idea any of the baits from either group? Thanks in advance!
  14. love my 101b! i have a swept 96mm handle on mine, but i put an aftermarket drag star on it to allow for the swept handle. you can get a 94mm (i think) straight handle from hawgtech and they are legit!
  15. all good spots on here! some VERY far away! i've got more states than that on my lifetime list, but looking to add some more! California definitely being one of the ones to target!
  16. I think i hit my new high number of states fished this last year, only one time was a tournament it was one of my 2 Alabama licenses. Wondering how it was for everyone else in 2017, how many states (or countries even for that matter) did you fish in? I also probably bought a new record number of fishing licenses in 2017 too! I'd hate to know what that $ total per fish actually was!!! Still cheaper than being caught without one though!!!! North Carolina - have a lifetime license there Georgia - resident license, have to buy the trout stamp too to fish certain parts of the river Alabama - actually bought 2 short term non resident licenses here in 2017! Tennessee - short term non resident Florida - again, bought the short term non resident license TWICE in 2017! Louisiana - short term non resident
  17. Barlow's a legit source
  18. Good stuff, thanks! I thought for sure they would have it published in the manual or on the box, but I looked hard and never did find it!
  19. couldn't agree more on the stock handle and knobs actually, hated them. mine's pretty decked out too, way too much for what it is, but again i love the thing! Hedgehog air bearings carbontex drag black 96mm met mgl handle black avail spool black avail cast control cap black avail swept drag star
  20. i'm not terribly concerned, i've had it a while and love it. i'd already swapped the drag out for carbontex a while back. i had just considered maybe using it for throwing some bigger soft swimbaits like 6" and 8" huddlestons because of the slower reel speed and pretty good line capacity with the stock spool. my only drawback is i also have a sweet avail spool for it that isn't really a BFS spool, but a shallower and lighter spool than stock. the thing smokes it throwing deep cranks and thought i might put it on this hudd rod. however, i've also been contemplating grabbing a daiwa tatula HD for this application and found one on ebay that's priced right enough to buy. i think i'm going to go that route and keep this curado where she belongs on the deep cranking stick. and i still don't know why, but i freaking love this reel. it's my oldest and cheapest one by a mile, not considering all the $ i've put it on upgrading it, but it is still one of my favorite reels i've ever had for some reason.
  21. captain hooks warehouse is where i got some mustad trebles in bulk earlier this year. good price on them too.
  22. Does anyone here know what the 100B Curado reels were rated for on the drag? I have the box and papers that came with mine and it’s not listed on there. I’ve tried a quick search on the web and nothing…. Just curious if anyone might know. Thanks!
  23. i've got a light set from cabela's that i have packed in the kayak. i just wear the appropriate clothes for the day and put the rain gear on if needed. as far as the PFD goes, ALWAYS wear it above/outside the last piece of clothing. it may not properly inflate/keep your head out of the water if you've got it stuff inside clothing!!!
