  1. Caution stay away from Cabela's website, the reel deals are too good! LOL. Purchased 2 new Lew's Tournament Pro's last week for $119.99 a piece. Today they added the Okuma Helios for $119.99 with the current discount code it totals to $104. Plus $30 rebate from Okuma its dirt cheap! .. Are the Helios any good? Never owned a okuma, but this deal just looks nice. What's scary is I don't even have rods to pair them with.. Yet LOL
  2. Hey Bassresource. Is there anybody who owned or used these two rods? I need help choosing my next reaction bait Rod. I'm looking at the Abu Garcia Veritas and the Abu Garcia Villain. I can get either one for under $100. Which is the better choice? I hear a lot of bad reviews of the villain but it was originally priced at $180. Is it better than the veritas? I Own the veritas in 7' MH/f and really like it for reaction baits. The guides aren't the straightest and has blobs of epoxy glue all over but it's done the job well and is more sensitive than my St Croix Premier.
  3. I actually own 2 of the president reels. They're ok, but both of mine had the same problems after couple months of use. The bail wouldn't click and would flip when I try to make a cast. I don't really use them much anymore. On eBay, you can buy a Shimano Saros for around $110-115. I have this reel on my Avid X and its my go to Rod. The drag is butter smooth .. I seen some Quantum Exo PT spinning reels on sale for $100. Look around online some stores have great Black Friday deals
  4. I Seen This Deal The Night It Was Announced! Wanted To Jump On It So Badly Lol. Just Confirmed Order From Cabela's $119 For Lews TP. Think I'll Be Happier With This Reel. Hear Lots Of Good Things About It & Nothing Bad
  5. Hey guys been doing research and watching lots of YouTube videos. So for my 2008 Buick Enclave, i just need to buy the cross bars because it already has side rail bars. I'm seeing them for $150 on Amazon. These are the original GM factory cross bars. Once I have these I can just mount the kayak on and strap down with cam buckles. Is this correct? Is there cheaper crossbars I should look at?
  6. Well, I guess the grip on them can also help stabilize the kayak when driving. Stops it from swaying or moving when driving across bumps
  7. Thanks for posting link "Rippin Lips".. So it looks like the sole purpose of them is to get the kayak a couple inches off the roof of your vehicle. Kind of like "FlyFisher" said.
  8. Can you please post a link to the Sparehand kayak cradles? I still want to learn how I can mount on top of the enclave. Are the horizontal bars and cradles that you add to the top of car even necessary? I have cam buckle straps but will this work for long trips? 1-2hour drives
  9. Ok. Wasn't sure if it was going to be secure in the truck bed with half the kayak sticking out, but if you guys do it! Why not lol.. I'll check out the spare hand cradles. Appreciate the help/advice everyone
  10. Hey Users. So I've been searching for a nice fishing kayak. I think I'm going with the wilderness ride 115. Now the next step is figuring out how to car top it.. I have a Buick Enclave with the vertical bars on it and a Chevy Silverado with a 6- 6 1/2ft bed. How can I car top it on my enclave? Hopefully something under $100. Thanks!
  11. Great reply Fin Stalker. Much appreciated. I've actually talked him down to $550 for the Ride 115. It's a 2012 model. No leaks and never had any repairs to it. The problem is that it comes with no extras .. Means I'll have to buy my own paddle. Still seems like a pretty good deal right? Also the drive is 3 hours away /: haha
  12. Thank you for all the replies .. Looks like I'll keep searching Craigslist. Don't want to rush it and get something I don't really like. The tarpon is in good condition but It's old and I would rather have the newer models. Found a Ride 115 for 600 also.. Good condition but has scratches on bottom and sides from launching. Heard good things about these. Anybody own one? I'd like to hear what's good about them and what could be better. Thank you
  13. Found this on CL. It's an older model. Owner used it for 4 years. Has anybody fished from this?
  14. Hey everyone. I've been researching many kayaks, aluminum boats, inflatable boats. Kayak bass fishing has caught my attention. I've never been on a kayak before. I would prefer a SOT boat and my price range is around $400-650 for the boat (New or Used). I've been checking craigslist and found Ocean Tetra Anglers 10/12, tarpon 120/140, and the Ascend FS12T. How are these kayaks? Stability, weight, comfort. Please tell me the Pro's and Con's of these. Also which other kayaks should I look for? Standing while fishing is a plus but not that important. Stability is most important haha
  15. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help. Looks like I'm going with a 7' MF or the 6'8 M/XF. Can someone explain what the benefit of a XF taper would have? From my understanding the extra fast taper makes the rod stiff. Is this true? Will both tapers work for the techniques I plan to use?. Thanks
  16. Hey bassresource users. So, my St. Croix premier snapped in half while trying to free a snag. /: I've Been looking on St. Croix website and seen their gold star upgrade plan. I'm looking for a spinning rod to fish soft plastics and small football jigs nothing bigger than 1/2oz.. I'll mainly be using T-Rig and drop-Shot techniques.. Maybe some weightless flukes/super flukes The Avid series caught my attention. Now I need help choosing the best model for it.. I prefer a rod at least 6'6 and nothing over 7'. Which do you guys recommend? Also, how do the original Avids compare to the Avid X in terms of feel and sensitivity. Thanks For your help. Hopefully I can choose soon because I just sent out my premier to the repair center today.
  17. The new shimano cumaras look nice but I don't like how they made the grips so short. Is anybody having problems with that?
  18. Lol my original price range was lower, but the 20% allowed me to consider the dobyns and I heard great things about how balanced and wonderful the champion series rods. I'm sure the extremes are nice but I don't think I can spend $260 on a rod. I've never held either of these rods so I'm going by from what I've read and heard about these rods. I know the recon is under 4oz how about the champion?
  19. I'm looking for the Most sensitive rod in $170-$240 range. The two rods I'm currently looking at is the Dobyns Champion 703c and the Phenix recon 714. If you have used both of these which do you feel is more sensitive? I will be pairing the rod with a Lews tournament Pro btw.
  20. I have 2 pflueger presidents ..they're nice reels very smooth for the price. The only complaint I would have is that when I go to make a cast the bail doesn't click and prevents me from casting sometimes. This is a problem for both of my reels the 6935, 6930.. Honestly I've been wanting to buy a new reel for my dropshot rod and I was thinking of buying the shimano Sahara.
  21. @lgmmouthgambler.. Haha I've heard so many good things about the chronarch and wanted to try for myself so that's definitely a reel I've looked into..same with the lews..Also I been wondering how does the Shimano Cruical compare to the older cumara? They're built on the same blanks do you feel any difference in sensitivity?
  22. I have held the avid and it feels very nice and comfortable. I don't have a preference between full grip or split handle so that doesn't bother me..I just want a sensitive and reliable rod:) they both have a limited lifetime warranty so that's great.. Do you own both the avid and Phenix recon 2? If so which do you feel is more sensitive ?
  23. Hi I'm getting a new baitcasting combo and not sure which to go with. This will be my new Worm and Jig rod. Here's the rod and reels I'm currently looking at. Rods: Phenix M1, Phenix Recon 2, St.Croix Avid, Shimano Crucial, lamiglas Pro X Bass. Reels: Lews Tournament Pro, Shimano Chronarch200E, Shimano Curado200E, So which would you pick? Thanks!
  24. That's guys ..glad to be here
