  1. Sands of Iwo Jima. (Yes, its an old black and white with John Wayne...i love it) We were Soldiers Braveheart Blackhawk down Heartbreak Ridge
  2. Good worm. I used them on a C rig several times last year and caught several decent fish. I only used them because i had a bag and i ran out of watermelon trick worms while fishin and used the watermelon swamp crawler and it was as if i still had old faithful.
  3. Yeah, we do actually have alot of MD transplants down in NC but never noticed alot of them till the first Sunday in February of this year.
  4. The ML will probably do better for the lighter weights.
  5. German Shepards, labs, retrievers, and boxers are all super sweet dogs. They are all fairly easy to work with as far as house training and do really well with children and teens. The shelter may be a good idea too. But I always preferred taking a puppy that way I can grow them and teach them from a young age. House/obedience training CAN be frustrating but it doesnt have to be, just remember puppies have alot of energy and like children they have to be corrected a lot. But the outcome is so rewarding and will give youu a partner that will love you unconditionally for many years.
  6. Brady took a paycut because he wants another ring. He has had a Great run with ONE team and lets be honest, the Patriots window for winning another championship is closing. So Brady felt that he could cut his pay almost in half to use that money to pay others. Flacco on the other hand is one of several QBs who "was the highest piad" when he got his deal. Im not a Ravens fans, but i feel that Flacco earned this deal, just like Eli,Payton, Brady,Rogers,Brees, and Big Ben did. At this point in his career (28 years old) playoffs every year, and a superbowl win , its not right to compare him to a guy like Brady who is a shoe in for the hall of fame, who is taking an unpresidented paycut so that he can chase more superbowl rings..This is joes time, he earned the mmoney, and shouldnt have to take less just because better qb has chosen to take less than him.Oh and one side note for yall. Tom Bradys wife makes more money than the "highest paid" player anyway. Tom isnt hurting. Besides Brady is a guy who WILL have equally high paying career doing endorsments and televsion when he retires.
  7. I havent heard much about it. Its a very affordable entry level reel. When i finally upgrade one pf my spinning reels, i looked at those first because i like their bastcast stuff. I wasnt impressed, so i went to ebay and got a stradic. However, i was looking for a higher end reel...thats probably why i didnt give it a shot... put it on your travel rod or in as a spare.. if is as tuff as the lew baitcast reels, it will work well and last
  8. Wow!! Congrats. That is alot of storage space. That rod box is sick!
  9. Oh i know what will happen!! Theres a local guy here who is huge into swimbaits. He doesnt win many tourneys but he wins big bass often. When the big swim bait bite is on and the right fisherman is on the same page, its all over.
  10. Thats a good question. I would want to know what type of language goes into their contracts. Maybe Big O or one of our professional members would explain further.
  11. Yeah i did. My first real flippin stick was a Castaway Skeleton 7'6 Heavy (slow action) Casttaway calls it a slow action but really its between a mod and a mod fast. It was made for braided line. I used it as a flippin stick for jigs and heavy t rigs for one season and then decided to buy a Powell Flippin stick so i would have two big ol broom handles on the boat. Since then i bought a couple more powell flippin sticks. The castaway, is my Football jig, C-rig, Big Trap, Big Spoon rod. The majority of time i use it for 3/4 Football jigs. It seems to be the best overall rod I have for Footballs and c rigs. The slower taper is awesome for the 3/4 oz traps and spoons too. I also have a castaway 6'6M that was bought for topwaters, but ended up being my dock skipping rod because it has just the right flex and bend and makes shoooting 3/8 oz jigs or even weightless brushhogs under docks so easy. Those rods were bought years ago when Castaway first came out with them and even tho i replaced most of my stuffwith Powells and what not, they do so well i cant bring myself to replace them
  12. Dude, are you diabetic? I am. It sucks but good diet and excercise normally keeps it in check.
  13. Yes and no. As you progress as a fisherman and understand the game more you can use the floro and braid. But right now, being new and still learning the simple basics, i wouldnt throw alot of money into those small advancements...yet. Be comforted with the fact that MILLIONS of fish are landed yearly with mono only. For now I WOULD STICK WITH MONO AND SLOWLY WORK YOU WAY INTO STUFF LIKE THAT. Now ill tell you the pros and cons to floro and braid. Fluoro will last must long than mono as it is UV resistant and does not absorb water. It is ALOT more sensitive than mono. It is also almost invisable under water. It has stretch, just not quite as much as mono. Fluoro also sinks. Now the negatives, Fluoro can be hell on spinning reels if you buy certain stuff. It is not very managable and is kinda stiff. (Its a handful of baitcast stuff too) Fluoro seemed to kinky and get knicks in it. Knot strength can be an issue if you dont tie well or wet your knots as cinch. KVD line and Lure does help with managing the line. I would suggest buying PREMIUM or higher end fluoro if using as a mainline. The more expensive stuff is normally limper and easier to deal with Braid has very small diameters, much smaller than the other two. Braid floats. Braid has near zero stretch. Braid is much more abrasion resistant than the others. Its doesnt take as much to set the hook because of the lack of stretch. Braid is super sensitive with bottom technique, you are not losing any of the "feel" because there is not stretch in the line to absorb it. Braid is however, visable. the lack of stretch sometimes is undisireable depending on technique. Braid can dig into your spool (mainly the smaller diameters) youll need to ease off of your drag a little bit.
  14. The first time you double up on an A-rig, you will be hooked.
  15. IIll never forget the time, i woke up to my cell phone ringing. It was my Dad. His voice cracked and he told me my brother had passed away. My world suddenly stopped. Everything I knew and counted out now seemed fake. Nothing seemed real anymore. I begged my wife to please tell me that it was a dream or a nightmare for that matter. She couldnt. The worst night of my life. Jason W. Teal 1980-2012 R.I.P, brother i love you. Life is short guys, call your folks and tell em how you feel. Do it often.
  16. Why not build your own? I dont know how much time you have to do it, but you can order the weights with the hub on it, or the hubs and skirts, or just the tabs...
  17. Happpy birthday dude. Im drinking a bud light for you.
  18. Just read a report on ESPN that Balitmore Ravens QB agreed to a 6year, 120.6 million dollar contracts with the Baltimore Ravens. They are working through the weekend to work out details to get it signed. So, i guess you guys with teams looking for a QB can give up on your hopes of Flacco making it to free agency. Flacco will be the highest paid player in the NFL... http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=9006059
  19. Love it dude. Get loaded with heavy gear and go on a snake head hunt!!!
  20. I did it alot last year and really liked it. I got bit more than i did before with a single fluke. I tried it with a 7inch fluke in the back and had a little success with that too. But this rig has its place, you may get lucky and get bit in random spots on your lake but it excells in places where bait fish are running hard or where bass are chaing them. Last summer, I used it on a point where the main channel swings in and caught a limit in less than 45 mins. (But there again, the wind was blowing bait in and bass were setting up and hitting them when they came over rocks and ambush spots)
  21. I love my Costas and I strongly advocate good polarized lenses. But if you already have some decent ploarized glasses and a baseball cap then you have made the big step in protecting your eyes. While premium polarized glasses are awesome, and will make huge difference in clarity, a low end pair will protect your eyes from UV also. Maybe not to the extent of premium glasses, but the protection and increase vision throught the glare is there! I mentioned a ballcap also, i feel that a hat also helps to keep the sun out your eyes and paripheal vision. My suggestion is to buy a premium rod and dont look back. Get on the water and fish it. And SirSnookAlot made a great suggestion, buy a strap for you sunglasses so yyou wont lose them. Every pair of sunglasses i own has a strap on it. And if you do go with the highend glasses, make sure you get a strap that floats.
  22. Ive said it before, I want to improve my deep cranking and efficiency. I also am gonna concentrate alot more time on bama rigs and big swim baits.
  23. I fish alot of Football jigs in the winter and in deep water late in the summer. I saw the video on the website and i def wana try the 3/4 oz sizes for deep ledges and such. I also want to try them for some boat docks that seem to hold fish year round..im thinking 3/8
  24. Senko/yum dinger rage craw/DM Custom baits Flappin craw Zoom trick worm Berkely Power worm 10inch Zoom Baby Brush Hogs Reactions Inovations Skinny dipper Zoom Super Fluke Kietech Impact/impact fat Rage Toad/zoom horny toad Berkley Power Hawg/DM Custom Baits Punch craw Theres probably a few others i forgot that i would shuffle around to make 10it but this is pretty much it. I thought at first, "wow, 10, i bet i can do iit with 5" i couldnt...but if i had to decide based on a particular season or pattern i probably could and depending on season and pattern it maight be a different list...but these are my core baits.
  25. I have the amber lenses in my costas, they are good all around lenses. Great for clear to tea colored water with clay or light brown sediments.
